    1.5 Meter (5ft) 3-pin DMX Lighting & AES/EBU Cable

Distribute digital DMX or AES/EBU (aka AES3) data signals safely and reliably using this 3-pin DMX Lighting & AES/EBU Cable from Monoprice!

This cable is designed for accurate transmission of digital audio and DMX lighting control data. It features a twisted pair of 22AWG conductors wrapped in a double layer shielding composed of copper braid and aluminum foil. The two shield layers combine to provide 100% shield coverage for the conductors.

The input end of the cable is terminated in a 3-pin male XLR connector, while the output end terminates in 3-pin female XLR connector. The cable has a nominal impedance of 110-120 ohms.

What is the impedance of this cable vs the DMX cable? I have a bunch of XLR I use for lighting but am worried if I should switch them all to DMX?

BEST ANSWER: DMX and AES/EBU are both 110 ohms (or close enough. ) the typical audio XLR is uses a different measurement, capacitance. That being said if is a smaller rig, we use the regular audio stuff all the time without a hitch. there is a caveat... Some fixtures and systems are pickier than others, dimming curves can change, flicker etc. The AES/EBU is actually more of an issue. Digital audio carries more info.
    does this work for audio?

BEST ANSWER: Haven't tried it, but it should. You usually have problems when you use an XML cable for DMX use, not the other way around.

    Great cables!
These are my go-to cables now! I don't even check other sites because these work so well! My only advice is that if you think you need 10ft, buy 20ft. You'll never regret having some extra cable and at these prices you can afford it!

Very good cable- especially at the price
I've always used microphone cables for DMX, but these are probably better, and they are very inexpensive. I'm planning to upgrade all of my DMX cables to these.
