What size threads are on either end of the gooseneck? Standard 5/8" mic threads?
    Myung K on Jun 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The gooseneck uses 5/8" threads, however, it accomplishes this on one end by providing an adapter from 3/8" to 5/8". This is not mentioned in the product listing, so just be aware. It does not appear to impact the performance for me in any way.
Would this work for miking a kick drum?
    New User U on Jul 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would think that it could successfully be used to mic a kick drum. I use it on the floor all the time but have not personally tried to mic drums with it. Seems like the height and the adjustability would work for your needs, though.

    Needs more detail
Monoprice needs to add more detailed information about their products so consumers can make informed decisions. For a company that is known for cables and connectors, the lack of information in their newer product lines is concerning. Especially so for their "Pro Audio" line.

    This product comes with:

    1) Base stand connection: Female 5/8"

    2) Screw Adapter: Male 5/8" to Female 3/8"

    3) Gooseneck connections: Male 3/8" and Male 5/8"

Monoprice should also consider different length goosenecks and selling the base and gooseneck separately so individuals can mix and match to their needs.

Also, selling 5/8" male and female coupling adapters would help increase the variety of usages.

Customer support was as awesome as always.

However the try-and-return mentally is becoming too foremost in sales recommendations over detailed and informed decision making.

    PROS: Heavy and solid.

    Looks nice.

    Gooseneck seems stable.

    CONS: Description is lacking.

    Gooseneck could be longer.

    Beware of variations in manufacture
While the stand itself is fine, I was a bit disappointed that it did not come with a male 5/8" to female 3/8" screw adapter like other reviews had mentioned. The one I got only has a 5/8" connector, so I guess I need to buy an adapter myself. The description of the product does not mention that it would come with it, but I was relying on what other reviewers had said, so I guess there must be some variation in how these stands are manufactured. Just FYI.

    PROS: Solid, heavy base.

    Flexible neck.

CONS: Does not come with male 5/8" to female 3/8" screw adapter.

    PERFECT Guitar Amp stand
Monoprice should really think about re-labeling this as a guitar amp mic stand - perfect for that. Easy to adjust, and it can handle a mic that weighs quite a bit (I've got 2 Cascade Fatheads - one on each stand). The base is heavy too, so it can handle quite a few weird or awkward angles before it starts to tip over. Another home run product by Monoprice.

    PROS: Easy to adjust (obviously)

good rubber stoppers to keep it from moving too easily

    gooseneck is tight

    Exactly what we needed
We had a congressman coming to put on a town forum and needed more wired mics and stands in a day. Well, Monoprice delivered our 6 extra mics and 8 stands in a day, making us look like heros and all for less than $200!

PROS: Solid, heavy, adjustable and professional looking

    CONS: Haven't found any yet

Perfect for Desktop Use - Solid, Well Made
Got this to hold a microphone to do some desktop recordings using some free DAW software on a Macbook Pro. Very sturdy, holds a mic in place with no issues at all. Extremely solid base. Good fit and finish. Neck is adjustable but firmly holds its shape once you bend it into place. Looks like it could have other applications - e.g. holding a mic up to an amplifier, or maybe even to mic some drums (as other reviews have pointed out). Good low height to have kids do recordings if they are seated on the floor (putting the mic stand also on the floor).

Works well. Heavy base, good height. I've used it for recording the kick drum too.

    Great Desk Stand for Recording
This stand functions perfectly and is just as easy to set up as you would think. You simply screw the parts together and attach your microphone or other devices. The neck is not quite as long as I would prefer it to be. For my personal use, it would be perfect if there were another four to six inches of flexible neck to use. If there were to be another version of the product added with a longer neck and a slightly heavier base then I would purchase it in an instant.

I'm using this to mic the lower rotor on my Leslie cabinet. Like another reviewer said, this stand does more than desktop use - guitar amps, bass amps, kick drums, Leslie lower rotors. I'm glad Monoprice carries this.

PROS: Solid, weighty, strong, and inexpensive

    CONS: None yet

Work great for our events. Built like it will outlast our equipment.

PROS: Solid base. Heavy duty construction. Very good value for the money.

    Great Quality Mic Stand
I ordered this for live band use to mic our guitar amps. My initial concern was that the neck would be too stiff to bend directly in front of the actual amp speaker cone without it tipping over, but the neck is moderately flexible and doesn't tip over went bent (using shure sm57 mics). Heavier mics may not have the same results though, and the gooseneck is likely too stiff to bend low enough to mic a kick drum head vent. Though there are other better stands out there, this one simply can't be beaten for the price and gets the job done with no problems. It's made of solid material and has some weight to it. Just take into consideration the application you're using it for since the neck length can obviously not be adjusted and it can only bend so far depending on the weight of the mic. The gooseneck can be unscrewed if you want to use goosenecks in other lengths too.

    PROS: Great Price

    Solid Material

    CONS: none
