    12 ft long?
    A shopper on Dec 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The lighting stand spans a length of 10ft. The telescoping stand will go up to 12 ft in height.
can you use only one section of the truss? Can you shorten the length of the width?
    Christopher P on Jan 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the twp 5' sections are identical. For the NAMM show 2 years ago I did the 2 sections on top of each other due to limited space.

    Build Quality
I was eager to get these put up and hang some lights, so I opened up the box and pulled out all the myriad pieces to this unit. One item immediately appeared to be missing: THE INSTRUCTIONS. I went back to monoprice.com. Fortunately, the instructions are on the product page. Why they wouldn't include a set with the actual product is a bit disappointing.

There are quite a few pieces to this puzzle, and unfortunately, the documentation doesn't label them at all. It will say things like "select truss bar assembly which has a short tube", etc. It would be great if the manufacturer had a legend at the beginning of the instructions (like 95% of all instructions include), that shows a layout of all your parts, as well as the names of them. After spending thirty minutes on the first three steps, I realized I had the parts backwards, and had to start all over.

My only other issue (I have two of these stands, and this happened with both of them) is that the holes between products don't always line up. I've had to drill holes myself in order to get all the T-connectors installed. It would be better if all the holes lined up.

These appear to be strong aluminum stands and overall, the build quality seems high. It is also an amazing value, as I've spent more for just one tripod. With this system, you get 2 tripods and about 10 feet of truss to use.

PROS: Build Quality for the most part is decent. Seems pretty heavy duty.

CONS: NO documentation/instructions shipped with the product. Have to go back to the Monoprice website to find them. Holes don't all line up — requires user drilling, possibly compromising the structural integrity.

    Good Value for Price
This stand is large and sturdy with plenty of places to attach lights and other accessories. I can't vouch for it's full practical height or weight limits, but it holds enough for my purposes (I've got it set up at about 8-1/2 feet tall and holding about 70 lbs of lights and equipment).

Monoprice seems to have listened to previous reviews, as the unit I received had instructions with images to help identify the parts. The instructions could certainly have been clearer, but it wasn't too hard to figure it out and get the whole thing set up.

    PROS: Inexpensive and sturdy

CONS: Bulky. The minimum height of the unit I received seems to be around 8 feet, so keep that in mind if your vertical space is limited (using it in normal house situations)

Same or Better than overprice lighting stands from Guitar Center Ect.
This lighting stand is well constructed and completely as advertised. I've use similar lighting stands from Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, and American Musical Supply and this stand is of the same quality or better and at a much cheaper price.

PROS: This lighting stand is well constructed and completely as advertised. I've use similar lighting stands from Guitar Center, Musician's Friend, and American Musical Supply and this stand is of the same quality or better and at a much cheaper price.

CONS: As with all the other lighting stands I've used from competitors there is a bit of rusty dust inside part of the telescoping piece of the stand.

    OK, not great
This was disappointing because usually monoprice mounting hardware is very good quality in my experience. The entire stand is made from butter-soft steel. This wouldn't be too bad if the fasteners they give you weren't also made of mushy soft steel. As I mentioned in the cons, the place where two parts "slip fit" together binds up very easily, and can become nearly impossible to get apart. The design isn't faulty, it's a decent design, it's just the materials used were clearly sub-par. To continue using this thing, I'm going to have to replace all the fasteners and design some sort of collar to keep the slip fit sections from binding together. I'm only using this thing to hold a sign up, I wouldn't trust it with anywhere near the weight that it's "rated" for, that's liable to get someone killed when the ultra-soft steel fails.

PROS: The price is right. It's stable, and tall, once you get it together.

CONS: Cumbersome to assemble. The fasteners used strip VERY easily. The quality of steel in the fasteners is really bad. There is one section that slides into the other section, and the way the shoulder is, it gets wedged in there very easily and is nearly impossible to pull apart again. Some of the holes don't line up very well either.

    Perfect for mobile gigs
Perfect for mobile gigs if you need a decent light setup. Used mine for a private gig for around 150 people and it worked great. You can also use the two stands for a simple setup if you donâ??t want to use the upper truss.

    Great little rigging system
Very affordable option for hanging a banner or lights. It's extremely lightweight but build seems pretty sturdy. I knocked a star off just because some of the wingnuts, screws and bolts seem to fall off and get lost easy if you are taking this down and putting it back up on a daily basis like we are.

    Great Truss for the Money
Great truss for on the budget lighting and audio group. First time took a while, but super easy setup. Plastic seems rather cheap but it has lasted 3 events so far, and going to its 4th soon.

PROS: Very Versatile, quick setup, parts in changeable.

CONS: Plastic needs strengthening on joints, or some form of upgrade part.

As mentioned in the above "Cons", it took a little bit of time to assemble the first time, but once completed, this system seems to be solid and does what we need it to. Purchased for a church youth group to use as backlight for a portable stage. So far, it has endured the weekly set up and teardown. (Have been using it for about 3 months at time point. I've used other brands similar product, and the Monoprice one performs just as well. I would not hesitate to purchase again when the need arrises.

PROS: Seems to be solid once it's assembled. Price is great, less than a single stand elsewhere.

CONS: No instructions included. Took some trial and error, as well as referring to pictures online to get it assembled.
