Love these fixtures but the manual does not tell how to change the beam angle. Tech support wasn't aware of what beam angle means in terms of theatrical lighting. Anybody know how to do it?
    Wade S on Mar 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can not replace the lens housing on this fixture so changing the beam angle is not an option. For this you would need a zoom fixture which is well above the monoprice pricing.
Is this fixture able to hold accessories such as a gel frame, top hat, or barn doors? It looks like it has a slot for accessories but it also looks like they can just fall out of the slot.
    New User U on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You are correct, it will not hold accessories.
It appears that the grooves on top and bottom were intended to hold something that would allow that but no such parts are included or listed here and I haven't been able to find anything that fits. Which is a pity because otherwise it's a great little light
    what is the beam angle?
    A shopper on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: We used these lights for stage lights and general lighting the our church sanctuary. They are good for stage lights, but do not disperse even enough for general lighting.
Does this fixture come with a C-clamp and power cable?
    Andrew V on Oct 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is no clamp included, but it is a very light weight fixture and even the most inexpensive clamps will hold it in place securely. As with any situation, make sure and use a safety cable for any fixture that is suspended overhead! Power cable is hard wired into the unit (standard Edison grounded plug).
Can these lights be used with Freestyle 3 and if so what would be the fixture callout?
    New User U on Dec 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I use others like these with Freestyler x2. You just have to make a custom fixture. Pretty easy to do. I've done this several times

    Very Impressed
I'm very impressed... It took some time to convince my church to let me buy these, but once I did and put them beside the rented Chauvet Slim par Pro Tri, I was told to order some more. (In fact I delayed in writing this review because I wanted to make sure I could order some more asap and they sold out within minutes the first time.)

Well, I have 4 more on order, and I can't wait.

Take a look at the photos, the lights actually looked better without a camera lens adjusting for brightness... The bright spots aren't as noticeable, and we also ended up mounting them from the ceiling and it has a better angle so it lights up the whole scrim.

All in all, VERY impressed! (As always with Monoprice)

PROS: Bright, great DMX response time, Cheap, great colours

CONS: Apparently they are not supposed to be left plugged in... which is impossible on the setup we have where we mounted them from the ceiling.

They do bleed quite a bit... online it says 25, 45 degrees... no idea how it can be both... I'd lean towards 45.

    Great Instrument
I have been using these lights in Theatrical situations, both in a Black Box and for Dance shows.

I have been very pleased with how bright these lights are and the great color response. They provide very saturate and true LED coloring. They also respond very well to DMX, allowing control from a professional light board. I am looking forward to seeing what other lights Monoprice delivers in the future! I have always been very pleased.

    PROS: Great Colors

    Great Dimming Curve

CONS: Yolk does not get very tight

Dual yolks make it difficult to plug in DMX sometimes

    Great until they break...
We ordered four of these lights for use around our church campus for special events. Normally they work very well and put out a pretty good amount of lumens for the size. Terrific for our uses. We actually only used them for three or four events over the course of a year or so, meaning they didn't get much use (and we don't bang our equipment around, either, so abuse is not an issue).

But here's the problem: Of the four units, the display on the back of the unit went completely dark (broke) so you can't program it, or even set the DMX channel and mode for light board use. This has been a trend for us with Monoprice electronics. The TV mounts are great, most cables too, but often the electronics either start getting flaky (work internittently) or fail totally about 12-18 months in. This experience is based on hundreds of dollars spent at MP over the last several years, with all kinds of product. No sour grapes, just fact.

    PROS: Nice, strong light

Good color mix optics (no single-color hotspots when using blended colors).

CONS: LIke many Monoprice electronics we have used, flaky and prone to failure (the LED panel went out about when the warranty expired).

    Great little light
Feels solidly built, very bright, well blended color, well focused beam. The accessory slot is mostly useless without available accessories (barn doors or snoot would be awesome) but at least it's possible to tape a diffusion gel if you want wider coverage.

    Great Lights for the price
Good low cost light and very bright Can't wait for the Big Brother(12Watt) figure to become available we will order a couple of those to check out.

PROS: I order 2 of these to check them out and were very happy with them. We then ordered a total of 18 of them. We use them as back and overhead lights in 2 Halls on our Church stages. Also use as uplights when needed. Did have to make a mount stand 12x12 plywood and some screws and washers so DMX would plug in but that was easy.

CONS: Only one has given us any problems (blue LEDs stopped working) Mono price has already sent a replacement.

Monoprice return policy is great! Service is wonderful!

One did not work out of the box
I like them and will order more when they go back on sale. I have never returned to MP before so I will have to see how smooth that goes

PROS: I ordered 2 of these lights based on the reviews and the RGBW . I pluged one in and hooked it up to my scene setter board and played around with it for a bit was impressed with smooth color mix and was brighter than i expected. So I drilled out the mounts so I could fit stadared pipe clamps put them back in box for show I had next day. Should have tested both but I did not :( the second light did not power on at all DOA Lucky I had a slim par with me.

CONS: did not work out of box Mount hole to small for standared pipe clamps have to be drilled out, no powwerlink

Very Nice Fixture For The Price
The lights were purchased for up lighting pipe and drape. The legs were a slight problem because the cable plugged in did not allow for a straight up fixture. We solved the issue by using an angled XLR adapter and then we were in business. They look nice and work great.

PROS: Nice and Bright. Solid Construction. Easy to work with.

CONS: Legs could be a little longer to use for straight XLR DMX cable to plug in for floor up-lighting.

Overall really impressed with this unit for the price.

    PROS: Super Bright

    Nice Build

    Great Value

    Smooth Color Fade

    Easy to use LCD menu

    CONS: DMX In/Out connector placement

    Great product
We ordered 8 of these lights for our Vacation Bible School presentation this year. What a difference they made to the scenes that we presented. The children enjoyed the colorful set (Cave Quest) that would have remained a blackish-gray color without these lights. Easy to hook up and our leaders liked the fact that the did not generate heat as it was warm enough in the building already.

PROS: Great light, easy to program and control with the DMX-512 controller
    Killer Lights
Great lights! all we had to do was size up the clamp hole a bit. other than that perfect!

PROS: Small format, Bright, Killer Price

CONS: Clamp hole slightly too small
