How well do these work with the 600700 condenser microphones? Would a shock mount be better even for stationary use?

BEST ANSWER: These microphones actually come with mic clips included in the package. The spring clips you are asking about will work fine. I use these for choirs in an arena environment (and occasionally overhead drum mics) and have never needed anything other than the included mic clips.

This capsule works for mxl 991 and 603s too
I have a matched pair of mxl 603s cardiod mics, and one 991 cardiod. The capsule on the one 603s broke, so I got this hypercardiod. Then I swapped the cardiod capsule from the 991 to the 603s, and put the Monoprice hypercardiod on the 991. They are all interchangible! I have a matched pair once again, and now I have a hypercardiod mic to play with. I only wish that Monoprice sold the cardiod capsule too, in case I break another one.

PROS: Good enough for rock and roll.

CONS: I wish they sold cardioid capsules as well as hypercardiod and omnis. It would make a great replacement part for Monoprice and MXL mics.

Purchased the mics on sale as well and for under $100 for a pair, delivered, these were an outstanding deal but even at the regular price they are a steal! I used the hypercardioid capsules for the first time yesterday for drum overheads at an outdoor concert with 4 different bands and was extremely impressed with the results! With 20 minute set changes there is no time to fool with individual tom mics and tweaking EQ and these mics did an outstanding job of capturing the wide variation of drumming styles and kits with the addition of just a kick and snare mic. Impressive low end response for a small diaphragm and extremely sensitive but I was able to get plenty of gain with no feedback problems, although I have to say I was using some nice AT shockmounts which probably helped with low end issues.

PROS: Got a pair of these on sale and they arrived promptly and as advertised.

CONS: For the price, none. I had no problem with the threads but some care is required to ensure you don't cross thread them. I have encountered high end studio mics with thrashed threads from ham-handed interns trying to swap capsules so this isn't a deal breaker for me and I wasn't expecting Swiss watch precision at this price point.

Great find for my MXL 603S
I would recommend the Monoprice mic or just the capsules for your MXL 603S. Saved the day for me!

PROS: I searched all over for a Hyper and Omni capsule for my MXL 603S, and I could only find an Omni (for about $50). Here I found the Monoprice capsules were both compatible and half the price. People are complaining about them being fragile and not liking the gold plating… They seem just as durable as the stock capsule and really cool looking. I'll keep them in the little foam boxes they came in when not in use. I think they will be just great for my pro home studio.

CONS: Can't think of any at the moment. But I still have more testing & recording to do.

    Works well
I used this for a kids stage performance and also for interview recording. The hypercardioid capsule has noticeable range increase over the cardioid capsule, although the focus is very narrow, so it wasn't as good for recording kids who don't pay attention to stage position or rock side to side while delivering lines. Overall a very decent addition to the mic. Previously used Oktavas and this set is very comparable, lighter, and cheaper.

PROS: Better ranged pickup than the cardioid capsule, good sound quality.

CONS: Not a whole lot of range difference over the cardioid capsule. The threads are very rough and hard to get on.

    Works Great. Fits mxl 991
Works as expected! This replacement even looks more appealing than the stock capsule I had on my mxl 991.

    Not too hyper
These capsules have good off axis response, not too peaky. Great for drum overheads.

Much Needed Companion To Small Diaphgram Mic!
I use these professionally with a live sound company and I love the sound of them - clean, clear, not a lot of EQ'ing needed to give you a precise sound and not tinny like a lot of other small capsule mics. Can't wait to try them in the studio...

PROS: Nice HyperCard pattern, with a smooth response most of the way thru the frequency range

CONS: Feels cheap like if it got dropped, it might be done for...

After buying this capsule, I expected a great change in the pick-up pattern. I found this Hypercard Capsule to not make much of a difference than the stock capsule that comes with the mics. I was surprised to notice however, that there is very little colouration to the sound when switching capsules, though this may be a by-product of how close in design it is to the cardioid capsule. I was unable to compare it to the omni capsule that is also available. I hope Monoprice eventually makes a shotgun capsule to these mics.

    PROS: Inexpensive

    Great looking

    CONS: Not much pattern change

    Flimsy threading
