Anyone know what the circuit is modeled after? (i.e. Boss DS-1, MXR Distortion+, Fulltone OCD, ProCo Rat)

Clipping is usable, tone knob is not
Ordered, shipped on time. All-metal enclosure that feels solid. The sound is a crunchy distortion that sounds like a Distortion+ circuit with a few different values or small changes chosen along the way. Usable in a pinch, but this Monoprice pedal is not my favorite distortion sound.

PROS: Cheap as hell. Got it on a sale. Functionally fine. Very usable clipping type in its gain. Plenty of extra dB boost in the volume knob. Sturdy enclosure.

CONS: The tone knob's range is entirely in the "So tinny and shrill it would only be a novelty sound" except for when the tone knob is turned all the way down to its lowest point. Might be an issue where they chose the wrong values for the tone circuit, might be a weird taper/value on the pot. No idea. If I tun the tone all the way down, I can get a sound that's not unpleasant.

    Adequate/Good for stacking
As a stand alone it is adequate. Stacked in front of my Bad Monkey, it cleans up and compresses nicely. I don't use distortion very much; I'm more of a bluesy overdrive tone guy. Stacked with the Bad Monkey or my NU X Core Drive, it's nice for crunchy rhythm. There's no way to see the position the knobs are in. I painted the knobs black and marked them with a tiny piece of yellow tape. Works.

PROS: Stacks pretty well with OD pedals

Cons: The chrome knobs have no position markers on them

    Nothing Fancy
I got this when it was on sale for $10. It is worth that price -- It adds low-quality distortion, with a very...."unique" tone that doesn't match anything.

-It was dirt cheap at one time
-It works for a tinny, background metal sound that you'll feature in one song, not all of them.
-You won't need a fuzz pedal because this pedal makes very muddy sounds.

-It's now the same price as I paid for the MXR Prime Distortion which has been an absolute beast of a distortion pedal....but it's not even comparable in quality.
-The tone is very muddy -- it's a "general" distortion that muffles individual notes, so songs like Tenacious D's The Metal sound like you're strumming an Em chord instead of playing a riff.
-The tone sounds pretty tinny -- think of the difference between a "Mosquito muffler" and a Harley Davidson.

    Works well with stacking.
Have this pedal stacked with another Overdrive/Distortion Pedal and works well in that capacity.

Also got it on sale for $10 so that helps too!

Hard to believe a product like this can be purchased for such a great price.

Very good price for a high quality pedal. Monoprice is amazing at making high, mid range products affordably. This is exactly that

I'm rebuilding my guitar setup, and I'm doing it on little to no budget. It's giving me the amount of distortion that I need. Working fine. This beats the hell out of buying a $50 pedal and feeling screwed by a salesman.

I will see how far this takes me and update the review based on experience.
