does this work with Bass guitars?
    A shopper on Feb 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does work with a bass. Gets a little muddy tone-wise but perfectly acceptable for late night practice.
Does this fit in strat style guitars?
    A shopper on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: no problem fitting in....i have a strat....this is nice cause you can mess with the pickup switch and tone amd volume controls on guitar and device for different sounds and sustains like you do an amp.....it does the job well.
Can the overdrive be turned off or is it always on?
    A shopper on Jul 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: You can adjust the gain, so it ranges from very crunchy to a slight overdrive, but you can't turn it off completely.. If you turn the volume down on your guitar a bit it might take a bit more edge off.

    great for practice
great piece of practice equipment, in the few weeks i have had it i haven't plugged in my amp at home yet.

PROS: sound is good, function is compact and easy to use. pop a battery in and you are good to go. nice to be able to walk around and play with a distortion

CONS: control knobs are hard to read, especially when playing

it's actually working pretty well. Been using it with some gamified guitar practice software and it picks up the signal great. It's practice-amp quality sound into headphones, as well. Only downside is that it's a little unwieldy and floppy off the end of the guitar, and you can't actually have it plugged into the guitar and still see the controls at all

    Neat little toy
So I know a little a bit about guitar amps, and about amp-emulators. Our studio has real, hi-wattage tube amps from the likes of Vox, Fender, Marshall, Mesa, Orange, Peavy, etc. I have also been dabbling in amp emulators and "little amps" from the days of the original Rockman and Pignose, through the micro-Marshalls, right up to Pod HD, ReCabinet, etc.

This little guy sounds best with the gain and tone up high. It sounds a lot like a cheap version of the diode-rectification on a Marshall JMP (which is probably exactly what it is). I am guessing that the only concession to cabinet emulation is probably a simple HP/LP filter circuit.

The lack of any reverb or room-sound makes it hard for this little guy to sound anything close to "realistic" amp-emulation. But it's still kinda cool and fun to play with. Build quality is cheap and flimsy.

It is worth the $12 I paid for it.

    PROS: Size, price, fun factor

CONS: Flimsy, noisy build quality. No reverb.

    Mini Headphone Amp for Guitar-Overdrive
Sounds like an overdriven tube amp even comes with batteries.. Some of the other headphone amps on the market sell for 2 or 3 times the price, so I took a chance on the monoprice. Does exactly what it says it will do, very happy with the purchase.

I've owned the VOX version of this... While i have nothing bad to say about that version, i must say that the difference in price between the VOX Tube Overdrive version and this one makes this purchase a "no-brainer". If you're looking for something to get you through the times where you want to play guitar any and everywhere, but don't want to bring an amp everywhere you go, this is a must-have item. You simply can't beat the price, and the quality of it (in comparison to the VOX version) is no different. The negative reviews about this item probably come from the type of person who doesn't take care of their things, and then complains when it stops functioning as it should. It's just nonsense! Get one of these, you won't regret it.

This thing works great for my bass guitar. Worth every penny. I will probably buy a few more of these. You can't go wrong for the price.
