    Tuners and pickups

I recently bought one of these guitars and I would like to change the tuners for closed gear type instead of vintage. I'd also like to put pickups with a brighter sound to them. Does anyone have any insights on what I could use? Thank you in advance!

BEST ANSWER: These are great guitars for mod'ing. Grover 133N Tuners should fit right in to the existing screw holes. I've always been a Seymour fan. I light the classic Pearly Gates for the neck and a Jeff Beck in the Bridge. I am sure there will be a million different opinions and combinations. Seymour has a replacement policy that will allow you to exchange pick-ups if you install and remove very cleanly.
anyone know what the fretboard radius is ?
    New User U on Apr 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Using my radius gauges from StewMac, the neck measures exactly a 14" radius at the 12th fret.
I just received one of these. One of the pickups is pushed down under the body on one side. Could I fix this?
    Kenneth S on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The screws on the sides of the pickup are there for adjusting the pickup height.
Is that wood Solid or Vener? Mahogany back one piece? Solid one piece neck?
    A shopper on Aug 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in these Indio guitars. This 66 DLX has a veneer flamed maple top, the body is laminate, 3-piece, mahogany, the neck is solid maple with rosewood fingerboard.
Would I be able to put a Les Paul style pickguard on this thing?
    New User U on Aug 23, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in the new Indio guitars. Yes you can put a standard pickguard on the 66 DLX.

    Awesome guitar
I been playing guitar since 1983 and I already own your older rt66 Les Paul and Strat and I am totally blown away after purchasing the new Indio Les Paul.
All I can say is wow. Beautiful finish and the neck is incredible.
The action is set perfectly and stays in tune very well.
I also own a Gibson Les Paul Standard and your new Indio Les Paul
has become my go to guitar. Very fun to play and sounds great.
I was a little thrown off that it was fairly lighter than all my Les Paul's but doesn't sacrifice the awesome tone I am getting out of it.
The finish seems to be thicker then the older rt 66 models and more durable which is definitely a plus. I am very happy with my purchase
and the headstock style is really starting to grow on me.
I think I may be purchasing the Telecaster very soon.
    Bravo Monoprice.

    Buy With Confidence!
I friend of mine who is an accomplished and lifelong guitar player turned me on to Monoprice and their guitar lineup when I said I wanted to take guitar back up after a 40 year layoff LOL! I always wanted a Sunburst Les Paul but had not intention of paying Gibson prices. I could not be happier with this copy. Aesthetically it is beautiful and more importantly it plays really well. This is a very solid and well made guitar at a great price point whether you are taking it back up like me or just want to indulge yourself with another guitar for your wall. It's plug an play although I do highly recommend replacing the factory strings right away and having the action adjusted to your liking. It even comes with a gig bag which is nice. I love this guitar!

    Excellent Guitar & Price
This guitar came in great condition. It has good strings for an import (not brand name -- unlike Monoprice's acoustic). It did need a slight adjustment due to fretbuzz but there was no serious problem. Even brand new guitars from Fender and Gibson need adjustments.

A little background: I started playing a year ago. My friend lent me his Fender Jaguar. I then bought the more expensive Indio Stratocaster from monoprice. Over time, I picked up a G&L Asat Classic (telecaster), an Epiphone ES-335 (semi-hollow), an Epiphone G-400 (SG), and a $40 strat squier clone. Most recently, I got a 2017 Fender American Special Stratocaster. All of these guitars had different degrees of craftsmanship and quality to he tone.

I've had the privilege to use guitars of all qualities and understand where corners are cut for price. Basically, build quality and tone.

The Indio DLX (Les Paul) has an absolutely amazing build quality. The finish looks amazing, the neck has no fret sprout or problems. The switch and knobs all feel amazing. I like the head too. The head is very different than a Les Paul. It's more like a PRS or other Les Paul-ish modern guitar. This is a huge improvement over my Epiphone SG or ES-335 for tuning stability. Just for reference, the build quality on the DLX feels much better than Indio's high end stratocaster (though that guitars also great).

Finally, the tone is incredible. This guitar can play just about any music you put in front of it. The range of tones, depending on which pickup you use, is nearly endless. It can play really bluesy chords but can also sound really great with heavy distortion. Getting tone like this on a sub $500 guitar is tough -- which makes it more impressive that this costs $180-250 after sales, tax, and shipping.

If you like playing a Les Paul -- this is for you. The faults of this guitar are not due to Indio, they are due to it being an accurate Les Paul replica. The body weighs *a lot*, the neck is so big it's hard to have fun, and the single cutaway makes playing beyond the 12th fret a pain. However, you're going to find these problems on most Les Pauls (just like you'll have neck drop with all SG's).

5/5. Just expect to either adjust the intonation or pay your local guitar shop for an adjustment.

I have a Monoprice guitar Les Paul Style that I bought years ago which is much better made and and I can get all kinds of tones out of this one but the new one that I just got the tones don't change that much and the guitar is real light don't think I would buy another somewhat disappointed
