I will buy one. But why does the picture show 22 frets and the description in full secs say 21?
    DWight F F on Jul 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your interest in this electric guitar. Technical error. Thanks for letting us know. The guitar does have 22 frets. We will fix description and specs as soon as we can.

Are these pickups focused on a "hot" tone or more of a "vintage" sound?
    A shopper on Oct 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Pickups sound great on distorted and clean sounds. Did not have to adjust them, which I usually do.
Do you have these guitars in a left hand model?

BEST ANSWER: Thanks for your interest in the Indio guitars. We do not have lefties yet.
What type of wood is the body made from?

I have seen one review saying that the veneer colour doesn't quite match the photos. Has that been the case for all of them or was it just an odd one?
    New User U on Nov 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: That may have been my review. The color on mine isn't an exact match - mine has hints of blue/green where the picture is all blue. It's actually quite beautiful; just not a perfect match. For the price of this guitar and how amazing it plays the slight color difference is nothing concerning for me.
What is the size of the frets?
    A shopper on Apr 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They seem to be about the same size as my epiphone. Smooth and well finished also. Plays well but is a touch more green than the picture shows.
Will the Cali DLX be available in colors besides blue?
    John L on Jul 24, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Its also in red check the electric guitars page.

    Better than expected
I'm a beginner guitar player on the cusp of being intermediate. My other electric is an Epiphone SG 400 pro and wanted to try a strat-like model. I have one of the earlier Monoprice precision bass initiations and it was solid but the electronics were noisy and I had to replace them immediately.

I thought I'd get this guitar and replace the electronics and maybe the neck someday.

But no, the tone is really great with the stock electronics and pickups. The construction, fit and finish is excellent. It's very nice looking. The maple veneer doesn't have much appearance of depth to it but its subtle pattern is nicer than solid blue would be.

It's heavier than my SG and I was surprised how much easier it is to play. I prefer this neck to the SG.

The jack is a little questionable, in and out at times. It came well set up and in tune. Nice job. I'll be interested to learn what my guitar player thinks.

How good a deal is this? Couldn't tell you. Is it as good as a full price Strat couldn't tell you .

    Surprisingly great
I didn't expect much from a guitar with this price and I have been pleasantly amazed at how much there really is here. The action is clean, the neck is perfect, the body is solid without being overly heavy, the pickups are remarkably quiet (which is entirely unexpected for single coils), and the sound is astonishingly rich.

The only small thing I might mention is that the blue color isn't quite like the picture. The guitar I received is definitely blue but the inner body has something of a greenish-blue tint. Certainly minor in the overall scope of things.

Really Nice Guitar - A Couple Of Tweeks, and You're Good To Go.
Ok. Having owned several of the less expensive models that turned out to be real players after some work I bit the bullet.

I think it's a great guitar and a great deal. I got mine for 15% less which paid for the shipping.

My particular unit did need some tinkering though. Of course I would do this to any guitar no matter the price to get it to my specifications. I also do set ups and minor repairs for local guitarists.

Here's what I did: The major thing was fret sprout. No big deal...filed 'em down. It was probably due to the fact that I live in the dry mountains near Aspen CO.. I also adjusted the vibrato so that I could pull it up further. Love the Wilkensen! Lowered the action slightly - easy - 2 screws. No truss rod adjustment necessary. I wasn't thrilled with the lacquer on the frets, but it will ware off with playing. Remarkably enough, the intonation was right on the money - which is rare. Oh I also ALWAYS remove the volume control closest to the bridge pick-up. Messes with the way I play.

So all in all a great guitar. Pair it with their 15w tube amp (which I own as well) and you'll have a rig that kicks a$$ And no, I'm not affiliated with Monoprice in any way other than as a customer.

    Quilted maple blue Indio Guitar
The blue is actually blue on the edges and aqua green toward the center. Beautiful actually. Plays well, setup was good. Pickups are good enough. I am enjoying it and can recommend it to anyone looking for a quality and good looking guitar at a decent price.

    Nice guitar for the money!
This is a very nice guitar! Plays and sounds great out of the box. Beautiful maple striping, love the blue color! I have many guitars and this one is very conpetative with my Fender strats. A lot of guitar for the price, fit and finish are right on!

    Great guitar!
Honestly - for the price, I don't think you can do better than this strat. I was super impressed with the setup out of the box - I really do think someone is checking the intonation and action before they ship as my guitar arrived perfectly set up.

Love the guitar - great tone... gig bag is a little cheap but other than that, this is a winner.

Really Awesome, but some setup work needed
Myself - 30 yrs experienced player.
Got this a week ago. Really fun to play and killer looks. Major fun-factor - plays easy and you wont want to set it down. Sounds great. The top does have more green in it than the photos show as other reviewers have noted - however, i like it a lot - maybe even better than if it was just plain blue.
Now, for the not-so-great: it does need setup work: the nut is plastic and mine arrived with someone filing the slots very wide and deep - they basically ruined the nut - but that's OK - I'm going to replace it with a good nut - no problem. Also, some fretwork required - there are some frets which fret-out (i.e. same note sounds on 2 adjacent frets). Again, that's fine for me - I'm comfortable doing some fretwork to get things back in spec.
Bottom-line: you can't beat it for the price, but understand that all budget guitars require some degree of work to get them playing well and this great guitar is no exception.

Indio line awesome, but color is off
I already own a Vision, and 2 California Classics. With a few upgrades they are equal to, or better than my 1992 Strat Plus, 1980 Les Paul Custom, and my 1970 LES Paul Deluxe Goldtop. When I learned that Monoprice announced a new series of guitars, I signed up for notification when they become available. 3days before my birthday, I put the Blue Burst Cali DLX into my cart. I already own 11 guitars, so I slept on it. In the morning I went back to the cart, and at checkout, shipping was pretty high. Amazon sells Monoprice items, so I checked, and it was cheaper to get it there. It arrived today, and the color doesn't match the pictures. It's blue around the edges, but green on most of the top. I'm not crazy about green.
