Been wanting a basic case for my PSP so I can just throw it in my bag and not worry about scratching up the screen. For $.82, you really can't go wrong with this. I bought 2, just in case one breaks. At this price, I would be totally willing to consider it a sacrificial case if I drop my PSP, but it seems pretty sturdy (I am not willing to throw my PSP on the ground for science).
As other reviewers have mentioned, the red part, which appears to some kind of sticker, does cover the memory access and power lights. BUT! A quick inspection of the inside revealed that the case itself has holes where all the indicator lights are, but the red stickers cover the top light on each side. So I poked a pin through the stickers and all is well. With a little bit of work, it would probably be possible to remove the sticker, but I don't care.
Another nice benefit is that with the case on, the power slider is now a little more recessed, so I don't accidentally switch my PSP off when my game gets intense.
This case fits extremely well for a PSP-2000 and is very protective - it's worth the price 100%. As other reviewers have said, you can use PSP with the clear plate over the screen closed as a screen protector. Though I also have a stick-on screen protector on the PSP, I may eventually remove it since this case does the job fine. This case is effective enough that I can just put my PSP in my backpack with no other protection required.
The sides are open to easily access the Memory Stick slot and the power switch - it's easy to press the shoulder buttons, too. On the bottom is a hinged flap for closing the case and it snaps closed securely with a click.
The red accenting is the only issue I have with the case. It surrounds the face buttons and control sticks and I initially thought it was tape, but with a little fingernail scratching, it appears to be paint. I knew it was there when I purchased it as you can clearly see the accenting on the product images, it presents one legitimate problem outside of aesthetic preference: the red stuff covers the two upper status lights on the device, the Memory Stick access light and the power light. While the MS access is not a big deal, the power light is a flashing indicator when the battery is low, and is now hidden.
Overall, worth the money, but a tiny design flaw prevents perfection.
PROS: Fits perfectly. Fits the PSP-2000 too. Protects the screen. You don't need to remove the case to access the UMD or Memory Stick.
Wow, this was a great find! I've been looking for a decent PSP case for awhile now and this one is amazing. I'm using it on my Vader psp-2000 and the clear back lets the Vader decal show through. The case itself is very sturdy, its already been dropped down a staircase and the psp is fine and the case doesn't even have a scratch! Another nice feature it how easily the case can be opened for if you even wanted to take your psp out, when I first got it I thought for sure the psp would pop out if it was ever dropped but its held fast while still opening up when I want it to. The ports are still easy to get at which is a problem I had on an older case. The last thing I thought was pretty awesome was that the piece covering the screen opens up so if it gets dirty you can just open it and look directly at the psp screen. What I like to do is get a piece of paper and tape it to the flap when I'm getting a glare and use it as a shield so I don't have to squint at the screen. The only complaint I have at all is that the screen flap is really hard to lock into place and also really hard to open, I'm always afraid I'm going to crack since the little pieces that hold it in place are really small. Overall GREAT buy, don't bother with GameStop or BestBuy, get it from MonoPrice!
PROS: Sturdy design, easy port access, easy to open
