What is the difference between Product #13809 and Product #18546? The only thing that I can find is that this one comes with an HDMI cable whereas the other comes with a DisplayPort cable (according to the near-identical manuals.)

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. You are correct on the contents of the units. Also, the 18546 will have an updated HDMI version to better support 4K using HDMI. Where the 13809 will have an older version of HDMI for 4K. I hope this helps, thank you!

    IPS or TN?
    A shopper on Jan 3, 2017
I'm having an insane time getting to the OSD menu... with no signal the device goes instantly to a non-responsive "power saving mode." Anyone else? I'm trying to drive this from a new MacBook Pro 13" (touchbar) and it's not working at all.
    Dustin S on Dec 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Had the same problem. Have you tried checking your connections and or the cable? Turns out the cable was not working. Switched cables and the screen turned on.
Does this monitor support the Adobe RGB color gamut or only sRGB? The description, stating that it supports "Adobe sRGB" does not make sense.
    David K on Jan 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It is TN, so not useful for any critical graphics or photo editing work. Color gamut difference between Adobe RGB and sRGB is not a concern if you such limited viewing angles resulting from TN design.
    Can brightness be adjusted?
    Andrew K on Dec 6, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. This item's brightness can be adjusted, you will have to go into the OSD(On Screen Display) to change it accordingly. I hope this helps, thank you!
How much does this weigh without the stand?
    A shopper on Jun 10, 2017
Does it come with a display port cable? The manual states both that it does and doesn't.
    A shopper on Jan 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is a DisplayPort cable included. Both ends are full sized DisplayPort. To use with my MacBook Pro retina 2015 I ordered a Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort cable, also from monoprice, that worked very well. Mini DisplayPort is compatible with the thunderbolt 2 port on most macs in the past 5 years
I need 2 monitors. Can these connected together for one larger desktop?
    Patrick P on Apr 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It depends on the hardware you are using. The graphics card in your computer MUST support two 4K video streams.

The way I'm using this monitor is as an extension to my laptop screen so I get a larger desktop, albeit, the laptop resolution is lower than this monitor.
Does this have a remote for volume?
    A shopper on May 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No Remote with this unit.
    How is this for gamers?
    A shopper on Feb 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I use an earlier model of this display; if you're a professional twitch gamer and need insanely high framerates, this panel probably isn't for you. For the rest of us, it's perfectly fine.
Does this monitor support 2560x1600 mode? Can the included stand be used for portrait display instead of landscape orientation?
    Randy V on Jan 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The stand won't allow you to swivel to portrait mode, unfortunately, but there are mounting holes (100 x 100 VESA) which would let you do it...
With VGA input will it show 2560x1600 or 2560x1440 resolution?
    John S on Jun 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't have a VGA output on a computer that goes to that high a resolution... but I'm pretty sure the answer lies in the screen ratio. The 4K resolution is 3840 x 2160, which is 1.777 ratio, and 2560x1440 is the same ratio, so I'm pretty sure the answer is 2560x1440

For Picture in picture - Is the PIP all monitor hardware driven - meaning no software is required to split or share the screen on either PC? Can I split and adjust size of each input from the panel itself - requiring no additional software to be installed on the PCs (no admin rights on one device).
    Rick M on Dec 11, 2016

Good price for UHD but not without issues
I got this monitor to replace the CrystalPro 28 UHD monitor that had a cluster of bad pixels. It appears this one only has a single dead pixel. There is some backlight bleed on the edges but not as bad as the CrystalPro. The VESA mount screws on this are not the standard depth so you must use shorter screws or a half inch worth of washers to get this to mount tightly.

    Cheap Price, Cheap Quality
The size and resolution are exactly what I wanted in a new monitor, and I should have know the price tag was too good to be true. The display always seems to lack a certain crisp sharpness, and it has a hard time with some color gradients. For instance, the windows login screen background has noticeable groups of (1cm x .5cm) boxes where the color gradient is terribly pixelated. I'd imagine the background they have up in the marketing/dispay images would look terrible as well. Overall the color is a bit pale, and I cannot calibrate it to balance out dark blacks and robust colors with correct hue, even when visiting forum sites for calibration tips. It was a great price, but I should have spent the extra $50 - $100 for a brand that hedges itself on quality over price.

A great balance between cost and performance!!!
Question... Are there better monitors than the Monoprice 4K one? Answer: Yes.

Question... Are there better monitors than the Monoprice 4K when factoring in cost. Answer: Probably not!!

So far, I have had excellent performance and it works very well with my 2017 13" Macbook Pro as an external display. I did have some trouble getting it setup properly with Ubuntu, but after fussing around with Xorg settings I was able to get it to work perfectly fine.

In general, I would highly recommend this monitor... especially, if you can catch it on special and maybe with a 15-20% off coupon.

    Great screen
I purchased this to replace an existing HD center monitor on a multi-monitor setup. The resolution is spectacular, color is really great and all pixels appear to be working.

The only issue I experienced is that the monitor often (most of the time) doesn't come back/is no longer recognized when the PC turns off the displays due to inactivity. The solution seems to be to turn off and back on the power. (Once had to unplug the monitor from power to have it turn on again).

    Clean, crisp picture
This monitor is as described. It is crisp and seems free of visual defects. I like it actually. Their are two things though. It is a 5ms refresh, so be aware if you need a lower rate. As functionality goes, I sometimes get a visual modulation seen in the screen. The warranty should cover that if it becomes a problem.

    Beautiful Monitor
The monitor has beautiful bright colours. Nice and clear for reading text. Only downside is viewing from an angle is off.

The stand is crap, I used a VESA mount instead.

The best 4k 60hz for work and play!
This second round of these the frame stand appears sturdier. However the monitors shutoff DisplayPort wise frequently and require you to unplug the power to regain screen.

Great 4k Matte monitor for the price
We buy this model of monitors for most of our users. Creatives who do graphic design where perfect color matching is critical get fancy expensive monitors, but everyone else, including me, gets these and loves them. Really sharp, pretty good color accuracy, refresh rate is fast enough. Have had a couple die early, but monoprice replaced them no problem, and for the price they are fantastic monitors.
