The cable fits well with my iPhone 6S plus and Otterbox case. I was worried initially after reading 1 review, but decided to try it anyway. My decision to move forward with this purchase was definitely a positive one. I do plan to purchase 3 additional cables for the family.
Trust me, you won't be dissatisfied at all.
PROS: Length (6Ft)
In testing the Luxe Series Lightning Cable, I found that there were cable luxuries that were missing from my every day charge cable experience. The feel of metal interlocking with metal, the ruggedness of nylon to keep the cable together until the heat death of the universe. Normally, I'm more than happy to pay a paltry sum and get whatever charge cable happens to be available online, but I realized in testing this cable that I might be missing out. Monoprice has clearly created something useful and rugged that any long-haul user will appreciate.
First, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the connectors - two metal fixtures rather than the usual plastic make for a much more tactile and luxurious experience. I've had several of these plastic bits break over the years (despite Apple marketing their cables' longevity), so it was great to see the upgrade to actual metal. Next, the nylon material used in braiding the cable is also fantastically executed. I haven't yet put the cable in any precarious situations around sharp objects, but I would guess it would handle these all-too-common situations far better than your standard white plastic cables. Rounding out the stand-out features for me was the small charge light on the lightning end of the cable that indicates whether the cable is receiving power. While by no means an essential part of a standard cable, it was nice to see the light change color, green for "receiving power from source/full battery" and orange for "charging device now", the color scheme parallels what you'd find on any modern Macbook charger.
The cable comes in varying lengths, and the unit provided for me was long enough for any activity I would really need it for. My only concern when I swapped it out as my charging cable inside my car was that the cable was perhaps a bit too rigid, a more flexible cable might be more easily able to twist and turn and move, but in the end, it's a trade-off. A lighter and more nimble cable just means that you'll be replacing it sooner.
Overall, I was highly satisfied with this product. I've replaced it in regular usage in the car where I felt a more rugged cable would be handy and so far it's been proving to be a worthwhile change from my standard white Apple cable that came with my iPhone 6.
PROS: Sturdy, nylon-based cable
Rugged attach points for USB and Lightning connectors
Neat light at the end of the cable that lights up
CONS: Cable is a bit too rigid
Light might interfere in very dark rooms
PROS: Durable. LED Indicator.
CONS: The LED stays on Green even after you unplug it from the device (while the wire is still connected. to the wall power outlet).
PROS: Quality Materials
Sleek Look (looks better than apple cable)
CONS: if you get white it will get dirty after a while,
but thats a given.
First impressions of the cable were actually quite good. The packaging was as expected from Monoprice, just a modest plastic bag. Really that's all that's needed for this sort of thing letting the product speak for itself. Once unpackaged it has a very premium feel. The aluminum connectors are very solid and the braided cable is a nice touch for durability in many scenarios. For both of us the main thing it is going to have to protect itself from is cats, which a braid like that does great at. The only con initially is that the cable seems awfully stiff, reminding me of the Logitech G9/Alienware TactX cables that kinked.
A big difference that my friend noticed the first time using it was that the 6ft length was a serious improvement for most applications over the stock apple cable at 4ft. He was able to use it in bed without worrying if it would make it or not and tugging out of his hand. This length was not too long though where it would be unmanageable. After about a week of use the cable did seem too loosen up some but I do still wish it was far more flexible from the start. Monoprice just has to make sure that the flexibility doesn’t come at the expense of strain relief like the stock Apple lightning cable near the lightning connector. I see so many of them fail there on a regular basis that it’s a bit sad.
A big feature of this cable is the embedded LED in the lightning end. The LED seems to be either frosted or diffused through plastic making it a nice smooth flat even color. Even in a dark room the LED isn’t too bright to be annoying. It is however still bright enough to help assist in locating the cable in a pinch at night if you forgot to plug it in. One improvement on this design might be possibly putting it around the tip rather than on the side. This would allow you to at least somewhat illuminate the port that you’re trying to plug in to. I have a feeling that this implementation would not look as clean however which would be something to consider.
Overall it is a very good quality cable and is now going to be my friend's main everyday cable for his Fifth Gen iPod Touch. Both of us would recommend this over the similarly priced stock apple one based on our use of it. Those afraid to use 3rd party cables need not be of this one as it is Apple MFi Certified. The downside of this certification is that you can’t use your phone as a heat pack or campfire starter like many launch 3rd party lightning cables allowed you to.
PROS: -Apple Certified
-Longer than stock
-Charge indicator on cable
CONS: -Stiffer than preferred
-Led could be dimmer or better placed
PROS: Quality cable and connectors. The LED to indicate there is power is great.
CONS: Note: it does NOT fit into a LifeProof NUD iPhone 6 case. The body is to large. My wife has the NUD case and I have the Fre case. Would be a 5 star but the wife is jealous now, so it is 4 star, lol!
CONS: connectors do not have stress relief, still could break
costs much more than regular cable line

PROS: durability, fits our iPhones without issue
CONS: none come to mind
