I would like to use this PS to support 6 motorized shades. These shades are currently powered via 12v, 1.8a dc transformer. Will I have an issue using this device as a central power source?

Can I double the current to my camera by wiring together two channel outputs in parallel?
    Robert H S on Jan 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: In theory, yes you can double the current by wiring two DC circuits together in parallel. However, this depends on your load. Since this is not the intended use, I would recommend purchasing a power supply that is designed for your cameras.
Do these meet Level V or Level VI energy U.S. standards?

    Power Supply Review
Darn good power supply for the price!

PROS: This is a very sturdy high current CCTV power supply. I actually hooked up more than 8 cameras to this power supply using power lead splitters. I have had no problem with this power supply. I have had no over currents since I hooked it up. I have many different types of cameras with some having IR lights on them and the large majority of them had no problems working with this power supply.

CONS: The only problem that I had with this power supply was that my two pan, tilt, zoom cameras would not work with it. These cameras, however, have never worked with any other power supply except the ones that came with the cameras. These cameras were so sensitive to their power inputs that I had to power them directly with their supplied power supplies. I could not run their power through any long power cables (even using their own power supplies) like I do for all of my other cameras so I really do not consider this a real problem with this unit.

    Bad Batch???
We connected 5-cameras (.75 amps each) to the eight channel supply, which over taxed it, creating a roll in the video. We removed one camera and all the others cleared up. We tried this with various cameras connected to make sure it wasn't a camera bringing the system down, but this only happened when we connected the 5th camera. I would say it was a single issue, but we experienced the same thing in both of the buildings we were working on with this project. We installed a second supply and the cameras are now working properly. For the price, I would suggest using the 16-channel (cheaper) and only connect about eight cameras, which is what we did in the second building with no issues!

PROS: PTC resettable "fuses" and the price

CONS: Won't handle more than four cameras on an eight channel supply

    100% perfect
New ATT install in our server room prompted some equipment to need to be moved. This included an 8 channel DVR and the power box for the cameras. The old box was 2x the size of this one and was mostly empty space inside. Due the space on the new wall being a premiumn and the low monoprice on this unit I replaced it. Works great.

PROS: Not much to talk about. You plug it in and it works. Has more amps and is smaller than most typical 12 volt tan boxes on the market.

    Affordable but needs improvement
Its okay for the price. To save $40 but its up to you...

PROS: I installed 8 dome cameras by monoprice and Honeywell exterior cameras with IR and still can handle the loads.

CONS: It is not CE,UL or any standards in America. Pre-holes are not properly welded and hard to break the 1/2 inch cover. Inside sticker peel by itself. Power AC terminals have no safety cover. BE VERY CAREFUL:)

Easy Install - reliable power for all my cameras
Good solid product. It was easy to install except for the upper left screw hole is hidden by the circuit board. I just installed it with 3 screws.

I have purchased several CCTV power supplies from Monoprice and will continue to.

PROS: Like the higher current rating for an 8 port power supply

CONS: Doesn't like power surges at all. Totally destroys itself when it fails.

PROS: Great PS. So far, haven't had one fail. They seem pretty solid and I certainly don't miss the old school fuse design.

CONS: Could use more punchouts on the other sides, and wish the doors were removable for wiring in tight spaces. Otherwise, no complaints.
