Do you have any information about minimum focus distances? For example, if the camera were positioned 2 or 3 feet from the subject would the image be in focus (using the 12mm focal length)?

BEST ANSWER: Yes you can adjust the 2.8-12mm varifocal lens to focus the subject as close as maybe 10 inch away. So 2 to 3 feet away should not be a problem

what adapter cables will I need to connect to a dvr with a video input. Is this weatherproof? What is in the box with this camera?

BEST ANSWER: If your dvr has BNC connections, which most do, you will need a BNC male male cable like item #628. Or make your own. You will also need 12v DC power.
The camera and a mounting box are all that comes with it.
For what it's worth, the camera has an amazing picture for $90.

Hi, I have a few questions on this vars-focal camera, #14652. Is this camera motorized? Does this include short HD-TVI BNC and Power cables? Also, will a "standard" software PTZ controller work with this? Thanks in advance!

Is this camera compatible with the 16178 TVI to HDMI Converter? I am not connecting the camera to a DVR, but simply to an HD video screen.

Monoprice TVI to HDMI Converter, AHD
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is. Connect camera TVI video cable to the input on the converter. Then HDMI to the TV/monitor. You do not need to loop out to a DVR. I have it set up this way and works great.

I don't see why it wouldn't. Camera has a Bnc video connection, the converter is Bnc in and hdmi out.

OK, Could be Better
Strange that the camera doesn't come with a power supply and that Monoprice doesn't even sell them. The camera worked fine for about two week then failed. No video. But I threw the box away and can't ship it back.
I still think Monoprice is great and I just got a defective unit. I have been buying cables from them for many years and will continue to do so.

Great for the price & my needs!
I bought this camera to use as a live feed from a stage and am quite pleased with it's performance. The zoom range gives me the flexibility I need and it switches from day to night vision and back again in a short enough time that it can be used to monitor scene changes with the lights out.
