50 Watt Stereo Hybrid Tube Amplifier with Bluetooth and 5-inch Select Speakers Bundle
This bundle consists of the following items:
Enjoy the sound, style, and convenience of a hybrid tube amp with Bluetooth®. This hybrid tube amp combines the warm, soothing sound of a tube preamp with the efficiency, power, and clarity of a 50 watts per channel solid state power amplifier. Stream your digital music to the amp using the built-in Bluetooth 4.0 radio with the superior sound of the Qualcomm® aptX™ audio codec. Enhance your sound by connecting a subwoofer to the RCA preamp outputs. Not only does this amp sound great, it looks great, too! The black panels, lighted VU meter, chrome accents, and the warm glow of the exposed tubes present a minimalist retro look, which will enhance any home or office environment with a hint of old school styling.
There is no more important piece of equipment in your audio signal path than the loudspeaker. Speakers are the last link in the electromagnetic chain before tuning into acoustic energy. No other piece works harder, either. While many manufacturers focus on style and appearance, Monoprice does the exact opposite. For our new Select Series, we listened to what our customers want and then we spent countless hours listening to and evaluating speakers. Our engineers and audio experts have come up with speakers that will not only please your ears, but your wallet as well. Oh yeah, and they look pretty darn good, too.
Monoprice Affinity Premium Braided Speaker Wire combines great looks and durability with exceptional sonic performance, making it the ideal speaker wire solution for the serious audiophile. The 14AWG copper conductors have been tinned to prevent corrosion and the braided fabric outer jacket not only helps prevent damage to the jacket, but also won't scratch your speaker cabinets. Each wire is pre-terminated with color-coded, gold plated banana plugs at each end, ensuring that you can quickly and accurately connect your speakers to your amplifier. Backed by Monoprice's world renowned Lifetime Replacement Warranty, there is no better choice than Monoprice's Affinity Premium Braided Speaker Wire!

2. built-in bluetooth
3. simple controls
...Plus, the huge bonus: it's tube! It looks cool as all heck sitting on my shelf.
Now, the reason it got three stars? It actually doesn't sound that great. I'm an audiophile (just a poor one lol), and this definitely misses the mark for me. For reference, I am comparing it to my Equator D4 nearfield monitors, the only other stereo system I have set up in my apt right now. The D4s sound *incredible*. But even without that comparison, it's pretty clear that this system falls flat.
Drums sound amazing- probably better than any other system I've had. If you turn it up real loud, it gets better, but at low volumes there is a surprising lack of presence in the upper mids and a lot of muddiness in the bass. You can crank the HI EQ but it gets tinny real fast. In fact, the EQ controls aren't very useful at all because they seem to be on a tight Q.
I haven't tried it with any speakers other than those included. I've also thought about swapping out the tubes, which I know from experience with my guitar amps can make a HUGE difference. IDK. If I could go back, I would probably buy it again just because it has the perfect mix of features. Form factor was a big selling point for me. But if sound is your only concern, look elsewhere.
