Second order (RMA) - 10/5/2015 lasted till 3/3/2016
I've had two sets of HDbaseT product from monoprice. They perform excellent. However, This is my second unit to go out in under 1 year. Each product lasted just over 5 months. I'm very hopeful it's just a bad power supply. Have ordered a replacement from amazon. Very hopeful replacing the power supply will fix the issue. As a long time customer I expect a higher quality from monoprice.
PROS: - Inexpensive
- Easy to use
CONS: - The Ethernet port on the back is near the edge and makes it very difficult to get a shielded CAT-6A cable connected when installing in a standard electrical box
- Only lasted thirteen months
PROS: Potential to work over long cable runs
CONS: Poor reliability. Need for separate power source. Complicated troubleshooting, especially for a cable that may by hidden and poorly accessible.
PROS: Cost-effective for HDBaseT,
CONS: Short lifespan,
IR can't be used with 1/8" minijack from control system or to a device - must use the blasters that come with the product
Blasters don't stick to cover an IR port, but must be placed nearby
Blasters are large and ugly when placed near or on TVs (ugly)
PROS: * Reasonable price
* Ethernet ports for other devices
* Status LEDs
CONS: * External power required
* Silver color
* Only 100 Mbits
PROS: Works for Avatar 3D Blu-Ray
CONS: Wall plate did not come with the screws to attach to mounting box, which I found strange, but when I checked with Monoprice they verified it doesn't come with screws. I had to buy these screws on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00368CEZ2/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1. If you don't have screws it still works because it fits pretty snugly into the box, but I'm subtracting one star anyway.
PROS: Simple to get up and running. Works as advertised. Good finish and appearance
CONS: Can't fault this end of the pair. The IR cable length issue at the tx end isn't a problem here.
Other reviewers have said that the power supply goes bad after a few months. I can't comment on that since I received the unit yesterday. However, I will say that the USB chargers and other power supply items I've purchased from monoprice have been sub par. (TV mounts, cables, and even guitar have been great.) Apparently you can buy a replacement power supply from amazon that is better quality.
This receiver works in my setup, long term results pending.
Yamaha RX-V675 with BluRay, Xbox360, Wii (upconverted by receiver), and Uverse (Motorola)
Receiver HDMI out to a powered HDMI splitter (over High Speed HDMI cable)
standard speed HDMI cable from splitter output to TV
HDMI High speed cable from powered splitter to HdbaseT extender (PID 10680)
100' 24AWG cat 6A STP to this HDBaseT receiver
4' high speed HDMI cable to BenQ 1070.
There is a slight blackout if I turn the TV or projector on/off while watching the other unit. Assuming this has to do with renegotiating the handshake. Signal did return in a few seconds with each test as expected.
Good luck, we are all in this together.
PROS: Passes a 1080i signal consistently where 75' HDMI cable (PID 6062 with booster) would not.
Not dropouts from Yamaha RX-V675 with BluRay, Xbox360, Wii (upconverted by receiver), and Uverse (Motorola).
CONS: Cat 6a output on side doesn't fit into a standard 2 gang low voltage box. You'll need to buy a 3 gang box and add a blank or notch out the side of the box.
