HDBaseT no longer connects even when connected back to back. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
    A shopper on Feb 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Throw it away and purchase a different brand. I've had nothing but trouble with these.
Can I use the HDBaseT Extender (10680) to send one HDBaseT signal to two receivers?

    Great While It Lasted
This product performed very well for about thirteen months. Now I cannot get it to connect with the receiver.

    PROS: - Inexpensive
    - Easy to use

CONS: - Only lasted thirteen months

Inter-operates with Epson Pro G6770WU projector
My current A/V installation project has a ceiling mounted Epson Pro projector at the end of a 70 ft. cable run. Installing an active cable that might meed to be replaced behind sheet rock does NOT appeal. And 30 meter active HDMI cables that support 1080p are expensive! Since the Epson projector has an HDbaseT input, this solution puts all the active components for the link in the main equipment rack.

PROS: Best solution for a long cable run to a ceiling mounted video projector that supports HDbaseT.

CONS: As noted by others, does NOT negotiate HDCP. Projector status showed an HDbaseT link but no signal until I connected an HDMI splitter between the source and this device.

Working well with Panasonic Projector Digital Link
We purchased this for our church, half expecting to use Monoprice's return policy. After staring at the instructions for about half an hour and finally realizing there was nothing to learn from them, I just hooked it up and it works.

Our setup: Panasonic PT-EW640 projector at 720p with the "Digital Link" RJ45 connector. Cat5e cable running about 150 feet to the Extender in the sound booth. The extender plugs into the HDMI -to-Thunderbolt adapter coming out of the 27" iMac. It is also plugged into the network switch so I can interact with the projector's web page over the same cable. Works great. We have horrible RF interference in our location, and have tried all kinds of VGA, Coax, and other Cat5 Extenders. None have worked nearly as well as the Monoprice HD-BaseT Extender. Going strong for about 6 months, now.

    PROS: Small, Works great.

CONS: Documentation very sparse and not intuitive. No mounting hardware/brackets.

Works perfectly with our Epson Powerlite Pro G7500U
We got this device to use with our Epson Powerlite Pro projector, and it worked perfectly right out of the box.

I've had this product installed for a couple of months now and have been very happy with its performance. Set up was a breeze. I won't blame this product for the fabulous fun it is to run cable through walls and attics. I will thank it for only having to run just one. Now I've got HDMI and Ethernet where I want it. My setup is two cable boxes, two BDPs, PS3, x-Box, Apple TV, running HDMI into a receiver with HDMI1 out to a main viewing room and HDMI2 going to a 4x spitter with three of the outputs going to three different TVs - two of them via this tx and a corresponding rx wall plate. That's a decent amount of connections at full HDMI and I was most worried about every step in the chain being happy with the HDCP handshakes. I had a "moment" when that proved true when I started it 1st time, but powering everything down then up again was all it needed and it hasn't missed a beat. I haven't experienced any dropouts or reduced clarity or any other shortfall. I leave it on even when not in use to avoid any HDCP hiccups and it runs warm but not hot so I don't expect time to wear it down. As there's not so much available in Australia yet, I looked fairly wide for this HDBaseT tech and this is good quality at a fair price. (Note: I have given the same review under the rx wall plate as it is part of the same install)

PROS: Simple to get up and running. Works as advertised. Good finish and appearance.

CONS: A few more feet on the IR cable would be nice. This product would almost always be used to connect an AV hub to remote TVs. That means you need the IR to blast to a number of components. I've had to place this box out in front of the rack to give the IR emitter enough angle to reach all components.

    Great system, great price
Sends HDMI, IR control signals, and Ethernet up to 100 meters over a single Cat5e/Cat6 cable. Since HDBaseT is certified standard supported by many manufacturers (even though a single company makes the interface chips) devices from different manufacturers will work with each other (like HDMI itself). I actually had a different brand of receiver and the Monoprice transmitter worked fine. Has a nice metal case, so it works well in live events work. Did the full 320 feet (100m) with Cat5e solid wire cable, but not that far over Cat5e stranded.

PROS: Nice metal case HDBaseT works as advertisedno adjustments needed

CONS: The documentation doesn't tell you the function of the indicator lights. I found that the HDCP light flickers when data is being sent, regardless of whether the signal has HDCP content. I don't know what the Mode light indicates. The unit doesn't come with an IR receiver, just an IR blaster, so you will have to get one from elsewhere to control a projector.

Only worked for about a year
Same issue as another reviewer has pointed out. Mine worked for perhaps a year or so. By the time it failed to connect, it was already out of warranty. I purchase this as part of the kit that came with matching receiver.

The power supplies tested fine, so either the extender or receiver failed. Both also ran hot, so it could be poor design in terms of heat dissipation.

I suspect the failure rate of this product is fairly high. Monoprice should make some accommodations to customers who purchased this product to repair or replace them. $200 for a year of service is not acceptable.

    Works very well
These work well, and we've tested them to about 80m over CAT5e and CAT6 with no issues. The only problem we've seen (which we resolved by including a Monoprice HDMI splitter in our chain) is devices can't negotiate HDCP over the extender, so we've had to put a splitter off of the source which will do the negotiation, and then go into the extender. It would be nice if they found a way to do this negotiation within the extender so that another device is not required.

PROS: Product works well and is reasonably priced

CONS: HDCP needs to be disabled since extender cannot negotiate it. Also when using a bunch of these, the power adapters can get a bit unruly.
