I got this mount for my Epson 5040UBe. Unfortunately, the arms are not long enough to reach to the mounting holes on a projector this big. I had to make a plate that spanned the distance to the projector's holes. For smaller projectors, it probably works fine.
I was able to use the rest of the parts (just not the arms). The gimbal is good and functional.
You have to realize that you are hanging the entire projector on one small bolt (two if you count the second alignment bolt (which had no nut included--I remedied that. If that bolt ever pulls out of the plastic knob, it will fall--that's why I found a nut that could go onto that second bolt.
An OK mount, great price, but a few flaws. If I were going to redesign this, I'd make the bolts and plate it slides into larger in diameter (by 1 or 2 inches). This would also increase the stability of that part of the mount.
The ceiling base plate, tube, gimbal, etc are all good. Just the arms and slide mount knob/bolts need some beefing up.
I used this mount for a long time but eventually changed to a peerless unit that has an adjustment knob. Heavier projectors can be hard to align with this unit unless their weight is perfectly centered.
I now use this mount turned 90 degrees to hold upr my outdoor marine radio enclosure...
I used it on a Sony VPL-HW45ES projector. Worked well; was able to remove one of the arms and align to the 3 mounting holes on the projector. Note that the included M5 screws weren't long enough. I used screws and spacers from the extension mount Monoprice product ID 5466 and they worked fine. You can buy both spacers and screws cheaply at a hardware store, too. Otherwise buying both mounts is still way cheaper than any of the other compatible mounts you can find. Overall this is an awesome mount for an extremely low price!
Does exactly what I want it to do - holds my projector in place suspended from the ceiling and allows me to make fine adjustments. Was a piece of cake to install - took maybe 30 minutes to install and adjust.
I'd have given this 1 star but I accept some of the fault as my own for not realizing the universal nature of the mount wouldn't fit my Optoma HD142x.
As for the mount, upon reading directions you have to loosen the screws to the arms in order to move them. A quarter turn or so is sufficient, it breaks the screws free. They move. Within minutes (or seconds), the extremely short screws then fall out and the arms fall off, requiring reassembly. This can me mediated somewhat by removing the washers off the screws, but that doesn't allow much grip and, in general, is a bad idea.
Next problem was the ceiling mounting assembly. I have a drywall ceiling over ceiling rafters. There's no place for me to sink 4 lag bolts into solid wood. Furthermore, if I turn it 45 degrees so I can at least center two lag bolts, the projector (if I had one that fit onto it), would be pointed 45 degrees away from where my screen is.
Love it! Compatible with small to medium size projectors weighing up to 50. Mount came with a ton of hardware that should match your projector. Built-in cable management system is nice, cords run through the pole hiding cords. Also has a quick release if needed.
PROS: Great price, in stock, shipped fast, lots of hardware, easy install, looks great holding my Panasonic projector!
