My mount has become "loose" when I adjust the projector slightly from bottom up. Speaking specifically about tilt here. As I tilt the projector to get the screen to fit it is very very loose Is there a way to re-tighten or is it broken?

BEST ANSWER:Sounds like the screw is stripped. You can try to re-tap with an 8 hardness screw or replace the unit.
haven't got it mounted yet, however appears to be very solid. The packaging reeks of mold/mildew as if it had been wet and cooked in a warehouse for a while. Threw out a mounting pad that came with it as it smelled so bad. Figure I can make my own. They rest of the unit is metal and doesn't smell. Should work well when it's installed
I wanted to like this mount, it's affordable and looks good (better than many of the other mounts out there) however I've struggled to get it "tuned" just right and the limited adjustments on it don't leave a lot of room for mounting options if you don't get it "just right"
I also found that after I got everything squared away, it was very easy to knock out of place.
I think I'll stick to product number 8801 for one of my future installs
PROS: good build quality but more to be desired for perfection.
CONS: Can't adjust and hold 15 degree projector angles UP/Down compared to most other projector mounts and created my own shims to hold desired angles. I think next time I would stick with product number: 8801
Thank you for your review. To adjust the angle on PID 3009, you would have to move the adjustable arms along the track until it reaches the desired angle, then tighten the screws to lock it in place. However if you prefer a different form of angle adjustment and choose to purchase PID 8801 instead, you may do so at the following link:
For now if you prefer, I can assist you in setting up an RMA for a replacement if PID 3009 is not functioning as it should or for a return if you choose to purchase PID 8801. We do offer a 30 day return policy as well as a one year warranty on this item. We do not have an exchange policy so if you choose the latter, I can set up the RMA for you and you would have to purchase the new item separately. Please let me know how you would like to proceed. Hope this helps!
I purchased this mount during the labor day sale and the total came out to around $20 with shipping. For that price, this mount is excellent value for the money. I had earlier purchased a BenQ mount on amazon for around $50(free shipping) and the instructions provided were utter garbage,so I returned it.
The monoprice mount itself is good looking and materials are shiny and seem like good quality. The part that is secured into the ceiling is a little wide and has 3 holes in it. Unfortunately my wooden stud wasn't wide enough so I secured it using just 2 screws and it seems to be holding on pretty well.
The installation is pretty straight forward, but the final step that requires tweaking the screws to adjust the alignment of the picture was a little tricky.
Other than these minor qualms, I am pleased with the product.
PROS: Excellent Value.
Works very well with my BenQ w1070 projector.
CONS: The part that attaches to the ceiling is about 3 inches wide and has three holes. In my case, I was fixing it to a wooden stud and the stud wasnt wide enough to accomodate three screws. So I fixed it with two and its secured pretty well. So if you are planning to mount it onto a wooden stud in the ceilling, you may want to measure the stud to see if it will atleast accomodate 2 screws. If it can accomodate 3 thats even better.
Monoprice should looking into (atleast) conditional free shipping. (for example free shipping for purchases above $50)
For approx. 13 bucks this is a good product. It fits my Optoma HD33 with no additional hardware needed. Mounts are secure. 360 rotate works fine. Comes with 2 mounting lengths to make combo distances if needed. I just used the 'shorty' tube.
The parts of mine were not well machined so that there was some struggle assembling the tube onto the mounting plate. I ended up slightly trimming some inner plastic corners that were catching on the metal tube.
Oh boy, where to start on the swivel feature...what it takes to get the swivel function set really stinks. It is NOT mentioned in the instructions. I had to read through other reviews to verify the adjustment procedure. This is done via an allen screw on the bottom and a nut on the inside. When you have it in hand you will see. This is an adjustment that is virtually impossible to make and keep once the projector is mounted on it.
The instructions are not complete. No mention of swivel adjustment. Well, it DOES show a little picture that shows a left/right arrow and states 15 dgrees swivel. That's it!
But as I said, for $13 bucks it is actually quite good once you get over the humps. Do not mistake this for a $50 mount. There is a reason for the price difference. HOWEVER, I would recommend this to others.
I am pleased enough with my $13 purchase. Does what I need it to do. Thanks Monoprice.
It woked perfectly and I was supprised on how level my BenQ 1070 projector was. I didn't have to do any adjustments from the bracket side. There is a little sticker that says turn bolt outside. Since it is spring loaded it looked sturdy. You need to tighten the bolt. No diagram or step located in the instructions. I figured it out but could see how the sticker would be overlooked and a dropped projector. The quality is awesome and perfect for what I needed.
PROS: light weight, easy to put together, good quality
CONS: wasn't clear on how to tighten one of the attatchments.
