Does it have a right angle plug?
    A shopper on Jun 10, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I bought 8 and 6 outlet surge protectors and they both have a right angle plug. Not sure when I bought this one and where it is now (probably the office). I'll try to remember to check.

Their surge protectors are great quality though...
Does anyone know what gauge wire this is?
    A shopper on Aug 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: According to the information imprinted on the bottom of the unit, it is rated at 15 Amps 120AC and 1800 Watts. The outside diameter of power cable is approx. 3/8 inch thick, I would assume they are using a 16AWG wire. I have been using these in my house for over 10 years and have yet to have one fail. Works Fine and lasts a good long time.
What are the four outlets outlined in green??
    JOHN G on Oct 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I assume for the larger adapter plugs. Also a possibility is to have it stay on instead of going into standby mode., by having a plug permanently in one of the green slots.
How long is the power cord?
    New User U on Sep 14, 2017
    BEST ANSWER: 6 feet

    An amazing power strip
Honestly, this is a fantastic power strip.

First, the price is truly right. Nothing else with this level of protection is this cheap.

The outlets spaced for bulky AC adapters are truly a godsend. What would normally occupy multiple precious power slots now only occupies one. Brilliant idea MonoPrice!

The USB charging is a neat little feature that saves me an outlet. The max capacity is 2.0A @ 5V, so if you plug in an iPad and a smartphone (which combined draw a theoretical 3.1A @ 5V) it clearly splits up the 2.0A of power between the twoI assume right down the middle. But it can charge both my phone and my iPad very quickly together, and as fast as the OEM iPad wall adapter if it's plugged in alone.

Then there's the peace of mind that comes with a high protection rating like this. I have a lot of valuable gear plugged in, and I want to know it's going to be safe.

All in all, a perfect product for college students, home (and regular) offices, apartments, and budget home theaters alike!

PROS: Plug guards, 4x. outlets spaced for bulky AC adapters. 2x USB ports. High surge protection rating.

CONS: LED power lights are a bit bright, but nothing a little opaque vinyl can't fix!

Also, no coax/phone/LAN protection inputs. Not a dealbreaker, especially because monoprice offers a powerstrip with those features.

    Bright Green Lights
These are very distracting. I cannot use this unit in the bedroom or in the livingroom as the lights are really bright and extend along the entire side of the unit.

Does anyone here know how these lights can be turned off or at least turned down? I do understand their purpose, but I don't need the protected/grounded status to be broadcast as a beacon throughout the room. Thanks!

PROS: Spacing and layout of outlets. Two 2.1 amp USB ports. Not larger than it needs to be.

CONS: Bright, very bright green lights that I cannot seem to figure out how to turn off.

USB not charging full rate! Easy fix!
As a few mentioned, the USB port does not charge at full rate. The reason is that the port itself does not have the lead where normally is the data lead in the USB cable to allow the phone to register it as plugged into the wall.

A work around is you hack up your USB cable and short the two lead together. There's 4 wire in the USB data cable that also charges your device:

    - black : ground

    - red : hot

    -yellow: data

    -green: data

If you cut it the wire in half, reconnect only the ground and hot cable. electrical tape the data lead to prevent them from touching on the end of the cable that plugs into the USB port. On the end that plugs into the device, you connect the two data lead to each other to short it out.

This will let your device know you are connected to the typical oem wall charger.

Unless Monoprice change the design to where the short on the data lead is built into the usb charging port of this unit, you will never get the full rate unless they fix that or you get a charging only usb cable.

CONS: USB charging port not properly manufactured.

Works well, but the bright beacon of green light haunts my dreams
This surge protector does what it's supposed to do, but the incredibly bright green glow makes it impossible to use bedside. You'd think there was a traffic light sitting next to my bed with the luminosity this thing puts out. It will work fine for you if:

    a) you need to light a lecture hall or small stadium for St. Patrick's Day
    b) your local airport needs runway lights
    c) you've been declared legally blind

    PROS: Lots o' outlets.

CONS: No cons, however If you start to dream of visiting the Emerald City every night, you may have to move this out of your bedroom.

    Bad USB Port Quality
I have purchased two of these units now. Right after purchasing the 2nd unit the USB ports on the first died. Monoprice replied to my review stating such and offered a replacement. I did not have an order number to supply because I ordered through rakuten and paid under a guest account. So I repurposed it and it's been doing great protecting some other non-USB equipment. Enter the second one that I am reviewing now. The USB ports just died on me tonight. Seems that this may be an issue on this unit, so if you purchased this with the intent of using the USB ports often, you may want to consider something else. I want to like the unit, but 2 for 2 with the same failure seems like a real issue.

PROS: Nicely layed out surge protector.

Feels well built and appears to be of decent quality

CONS: I'm 2 for 2 on dead USB ports

    Wonderful Power Strip
I use this power strip for my Karaoke DJ gigs. Everyone comments on the beautiful green indicator strip LEDs.
This is another great product from Monoprice.com .

PROS: The 110v outlets are sturdy and placed far enough apart to hookup all my equipment, even the ones with transformers.,
A very high level of protection is needed to protect the thousands of dollars in equipment I use.

CONS: I love the Green indicator LED lights, but I can see how they might be a bit much for the bedroom.

    Power Plug Not Flat
It's a good surge protector. Price is great. When it comes time to improve it please put a swiveling flat power plug on it instead of one that protrudes out of the wall 4 inches. Thank you.

PROS: I like everything about it except that the power plug isn't flat. It has plenty of outlets and they are spaced out nicely for the occasional brick. The power cord is nice and long at 6 feet. You can mount it flat on a wall. It's switchable and the 4320 joules is plenty of protection. The USB chargers are a thoughtful addition. I just wish the plug was flat...with a swivel too.

CONS: As I said, the power plug should be flat with a swivel.

    This is a beast
This has worked for me as a DJ for years now, never gives out or gives problems. Handles everything i throw at it. It just won't quit.

PROS: USB too? Thanks. I'll take two

    CONS: absolutely NONE
