Does this sub have 1 rca input or 2?
    Jay S on Mar 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Three. One LFE input and two for stereo low level inputs. It also has high level speaker inputs. Side note this sub is amazing for the price.
This subwoofer is at 4 ohms, my speakers are 8 ohms. Will this create any problem?
    New User U on Aug 22, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Check the subwoofer specifications yourself. Usually the difference between 4 & 8 ohms is addressed in the receiver/amplier. The amp wattage is rated at various impedance ratings (e.g. 100 w at 4 ohms, 80 w at 8 ohms 40 w at 16 ohms, etc.) Most receiver/amplifiers have a separate power supply to the subwoofer, which means no conflicts or imbalance with the other speakers. Where the problems occurs is when you mix different impedance speakers on matched channels, left & right front, left & right rear, etc. Since the subwoofer is on it own channel by itself, there shouldn't be a problem, especially on higher quality systems.
I need to keep the sub tucked away and on a smart AC outlet, controlled by Alexa or my phone to turn on/off - does this sub make an audible thump when powering on or off at the outlet (keeping the sub's power switch on)?
    A shopper on May 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, this sub has a soft relay to eliminate "pops" during power up/down.
    Does this support 220V?
    Adrian R on Apr 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: According to the manual (which you can download from the description page), the sub has a switch to select between 110-120V and 220-240V. However, you also have to replace the 2A125V fuse with a 1A250V fuse, and you'll have to buy the 1A250V fuse locally, it's not included and Monoprice doesn't sell them. You'll probably also need to replace the power cord with one that fits the 220V sockets in your country. Monoprice sells replacement power cords for some countries.
Does it come with the cable to connect it to the receiver?
    A shopper on Jan 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: No, cables are not included.

    8" subwoofer review
This is a great subwoofer for it's size. Power is good, as are the controls for Frequency and volume. Well-designed and a good match for my hybrid tube amp. don't be fooled by their 200-watt rating though. I thought the FCC had passed a rule that you can't advertise the peak-to-peak watts becasue it confuses people. The RMS power is closer to 100, but is fine. No complaints !

PROS: good size, power output, controls

    CONS: None!

Premium Select 8-inch sub shows subs have come a long way in recent years.
This thing rules. I sold home audio equipment for a large retail chain (now defunct) back when I was still in school. At the time, if you didn’t spend at least $500+, you were going to get cabinet rattles, speakers bottoming out, and really cheap, sometimes flimsy materials. I hadn’t really looked at subs again in the last ten+ years, so it felt like a huge leap of faith to buy a $100 sub and expect anything but disaster. I trusted the other reviews though, and gave it a shot.

This turned out to be a wonderful surprise. It will make all the bass you can handle in say a typical living room (and maybe too much bass for people on the outside of that room, because subs have a way of turning the room they’re in into a giant speaker cabinet, sending huge bass out into the rest of the house). I really like that it can work with older receivers via the speaker wire inputs, as well as more modern equipment with a subwoofer out line.

Bass is either accurate or not, in my mind, and the idea that say a 40Hz tone is going to sound really different from speaker-to-speaker is tough for me to believe. The real, practical difference between subs:

    1) Does the cabinet rattle and does the bass get distorted, or not?

    2) how much does it cost?

This one holds its own amazingly well on both questions.

    200 Watt Subwoofer
It's OK given the cost. I enjoy it .with my 5 surround speakers.
It' seems to "hum" even after adjustment. But again, it's good at $129.99

    Movies yes, music...not so much
Once I installed an isolation transformer to get rid of the hum (ground loop issue) it's much better. Of course, not a fault of the sub. It works great for movies, which is why I brought it in the first place. I only have a 2.1 system (with center channel) so it does a great job of bringing out the lows missing from movies. I usually have it turned off for music. I have noticed the power delay does not seem to work which a a little bit of a bummer but a great buy for <$100.

    Great value for money
I was hesitant to purchase this sub after so many reviews pointing out issues with quality and an audible hum noise. After many weeks of research, I kept coming back to this model due to the size and power at such low price. I went ahead and purchased it and have been using it for two weeks with no complaints whatsoever, for my room size this sub is more than enough, the bass is deep and not too boomy, I’m still playing with the settings to fine tune it, they sound great with my Martin Logan bookshelf speakers that now sound like if they have bass.
Overall, I do recommend this sub for somebody like me with a limited budget looking to get bass in their system. Before this sub I had a Polk sub that was 10 times worse than this one. My only complaint is the Monoprice logo attached to the grill vibrates and it’s distracting, I resolve that by removing the grill.

    Hope this helps somebody

    Great Value
Use this to augment bedroom ceiling speakers. Has great power perfect for 16X18 room. However, i think it sounds best facing the wall which means the controls are facing out. Just hide it behind a piece of furniture.

    Noisy Grille, Otherwise Impressive
The cabinet/speaker/amplifier all perform wonderfully for a subwoofer of this size and price point. Unfortunately the grille suffers from a poor design that would have been so simple to avoid. At any mid to loud volume, the grille fabric vibrates against the crossmember of the grille frame, and the Monoprice logo slaps very loudly. I have peeled the plastic logo off the grille, but the glue remains as it is embedded into the fabric fibers. It is an improvement but the vibration of the glue as well as the fabric against the crossmember is still quite audible. It is unfortunate that such a simple issue detracts from an otherwise great component. I now just run the sub without the grille full time.

A nice subwoofer for the price. It does not overpower the room but delivers effective low frequency boom. Delivery was quick as promised and installation was simple. You do have to buy the subwoofer cable separately because it is not provided.
