How does this compare to Active Curved HD5 HDTV Antenna, 60 Mile Range
    Product # 15954?
    A shopper on Apr 10, 2017
BEST ANSWER: For me this model works better in both my installed locations as I purchased one of each to test.
What are the dimensions of this product? It states in the description that it simply mounts on top of the tv, but what about for very thin LED tv's?
    A shopper on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's about 20" wide and will easily bit over and ride on top of the screen. What's not clear in the picture is the curve of the antenna that allows it to fit over the top. It's about 1.25" wide. The inside is covered with a soft material.
What does the HD5, HD6, etc designations mean in HD antenna descriptions?

BEST ANSWER: TV station antennas for my area are about 38 miles away. I cannot get any VHF channels with this antenna mounted in the attic.
Does this include a power supply?
    A shopper on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it comes with a power supply.
Would this antenna be great for FM signals?
    A shopper on Sep 14, 2017
How do I attach the power supply to the antenna?
    A shopper on Dec 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is an extra cable (coax connectors on both ends) with a little box. The power cord plugs into this box. (Antenna cable attached to this other cable, then the second cable attaches to the TV.
Can this be powered via TV's powered USB port at 5v 0.5 amp?
    Philip O on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but you'd have to do a few minutes of work and buy a 99 cent voltage booster from ebay.
The round connector solders to output, and a spare micro USB cable plugs into the input. Adjust potentiometer to 6v, and boom: TV powered. I'm pretty sure your TV's USB can output the measly ~120ma required.
Does the antennae require the amplifier to be plugged in?
    A shopper on Nov 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It doesn't seem to make a difference whether it is plugged in or not. It is not a good antenna.
Can this be mounted to a wall?
    A shopper on Jul 14, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The antenna does not have holes or slots for screws, but the concave semi-spherical shape of the bar makes it very easy. Two small nails or screws will do it.
On a separate not I've had this antenna for months and I do not recommend it. The promised 60 miles range is an exaggeration. In my experience it has about 35 mile range.
With all that was said above, - but will it work in a house with **Aluminum Siding**? That's why I have had to go to cable after digital conversion a decade ago.
    Dwight W on Jun 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I suspect that depends on how far away you are from the transmission tower. I use them in two rooms. I have a steel roof. I got better reception in the room closest to the direction of the transmission towers (where more of a signal could be received through the wall. Hope that helps. I will add that over the last month both of my HD4's have started to lose reception. Do not know if they are failing or local broadcasters have changed operations. However since one began to lose reception and then the other a week or so later I think there is a problem with one of the components.
Will this unit sit on top of a Samsung curved tv?
    A shopper on Jul 24, 2017
What is the effective range? I am located midway between two sources of TV signals, and they are both about 45 miles in both directions.

BEST ANSWER: I live about 20 miles from the location in Eastern New Orleans (Paris Avenue) where most of our local TV Transmitters/Antennas are. I was able to get a clear picture on our bedroom Toshiba TV when the flat, front surface of this antenna was facing east towards the towers. But when I rotated the antenna 90 degrees to fit on the shelf hidden behind the TV, signal strength dropped significantly. If all or most of your TV towers are in the same compass direction and you are close enough geographically, then this will probably work for you. But if your TV towers are scattered in different compass directions and/or if you need to conceal the antenna, then be aware that the directional nature of this antenna may lose some TV channels for your application.
My HDTV is from 2009. Will I need to buy a digital to analog converter in or for the antenna to work?
    A shopper on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The answer to your question depends on your TV rather than this (or any other antenna). All broadcasts now are digital and this antenna receives those. The only case in which you would need a converter would be if you are using an older, analog TV that does not have a digital tuner (as all newer models do). If your TV is an older one (especially if it is a CRT type) you might look up what kind of tuner it has in the manual -- or you might call the technical support number for the manufacturer to ask them this question.
Can this antenna be used outside USA?
    SHAMS S on Apr 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I would depend upon the country of interest. After doing an online search for "North American Broadcast Frequencies" the Channel-to-Frequency assignments are as follows: Channel 14 = 471.25 MHz to Channel 50 = 687.25 MHz. But when looking up European countries, for instance, those countries TV broadcast span form 40 MHZ to 225 MHZ, which is well below the reception coverage of this or any antenna designed for the North American TV market. International agreements call for these frequency allocations to prevent one country's TV stations from interfering with the TV broadcasts of adjacent country. It looks like you will have to shop for an antenna suited for reception in your native country.

    Works, but not great
The antenna is pretty simply to connect, but it still amazes me why not a single sheet of manual, instructions or specs was included with it.

The 60-mile radius seems like an overstatement.
Maybe my place is geographically challenged, (3 feet elevation above the sea level), but stations 40 miles away is about as far as it can reach. And reception is very sensitive to factors like position of antenna and its cable. I had to move the cable and find just the right place for it, and it seems that interference from other cables hanging behind the TV might be the factor. Which makes me wonder if this is related to the fact that antenna cable, (especially the stretch from the amplifier to the TV) is very-very thin. Another powered antenna I have has a much thicker cable and I did not see much interference there.

60 miles from tower is not a true statement in my case.
I live less than 30 miles from 4 towers that sit on top of a hill with no hills between my place and the towers and I picked up two signal that popped in and out. The one that is known as the strongest signal from the area I couldn't even pick up. The price is low enough for me to take a loss as to try and ship it back for a refund being the shipping is on me. I dealt with this company for a few years now and this was the first time I felt like I needed to return anything. :-(

Compact and cool looking. Poor reception.
Only caught 3 channels in the apartment on the top floor of the building 20 miles away from the broadcasting tower...
I was expecting at least 10 channels

    Works fine but...
I bought this because it was amplified and had much farther radius than my old generic flat antenna. It unfortunately gets exactly the same channels and has the same issues with the same local problem PBS and NBC channels that give me issues.

    Decent Quality
The channels that this antenna get are great! However, I'm not getting all the channels that I wanted.

I like the design of the antenna, but because it rests on top of the television, it does not allow me to move it very much to try to improve the reception on the channels I am not getting.

    Great indoor HD antenna
I got this antenna so I could use it for a TV that I have in my basement next to my bar. I got it so I could have the "other" NFL game on...aka the non Packers game. Setup is real easy, looks great, sits right on top of the TV. No complaints. I would recommend this one.

PROS: Sleek design, great value, easy setup.

    CONS: None

    Good not great.
I live in the moutons and I can't get channels that are 30-40 miles as the crow flies. Neat design that rests nicely on top of a flat screen TV. Had high hopes but not as good as I hoped.

Looks very nice, but doubts about effective range
I bought this to replace an HDTV antenna I own that is listed as having an approximate 25 mile range, though I actually find that the other antenna with the 25 mile range works better.

With a 60 mile range and minimal blockage, one would think the Monoprice antenna would do a better job picking up signals less than 20 miles away.

    Overpriced, not that great
At end of the day, it is all about placement. A simple pair of 'rabbit ears' for $9.99 will do as well as this.

    Not as powerful as advertised
I'm about 10 miles (19002) from from the antenna for primary channels and almost 30 for some others though signal quality isn't good for the strongest channels. I can see the antenna from my 1st floor window yet it struggles to hold on to a signal. All wires are clear from contact with others and another brand/style of antenna doesn't struggle this way. One of the flat ones is doing a better job than this one.
