Would you guys recommend this one or the 7975 indoor/outdoor version that's amplified? Going to be for a condo on 4th floor facing East with balcony/window, ideally keeping it indoors in Vancouver/Burnaby.

Does this antenna also pick up VHF fm radio frequencies?
    William L on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: most flat antennas lack the vhf dipole rods for vhf and fm frequencies. they are only uhf band. You would have to buy a separate, powered "rabbit ears" or other rod type antenna, and combine it into the output cable with a splitter in reverse.
Am I able to split the signal like the cable company does to feed multiple tvs in our house or would I have to purchase an individual antenna for each tv?
    Edward G on Sep 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't think the antenna produces a strong enough signal to do that especially if it is indoors. Another limiting factor would be the long cable run from antenna to second tv. A roof antenna would be your best bet. If you wanted to try anyway, all you'd be out would be cost of cable. You could buy additional antennas based on results.
how long is the cord? My TV is wall mounted above a console and I am not sure if I will stick it on the wall or put it on the console which would then require the cable to run up the inside of the wall to the TV.
    James M on Dec 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Just measured the cord and it is 10' from the bottom edge of the antennae panel to the tip of the connector. I know I've seen others that say they have cords 16' or so. Most of the time I get pretty good reception with the antennae
placed directly behind my tv but there are times when I need to move it closer to a window to get better reception.
Can this antenna be mounted on the wall vertically behind the TV without loss of signal? Also, can it be painted?
    Steve G on Feb 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I have this antenna in a 1st floor window and it gets a few channels. It works better in the upstairs window above the trees in my yard. If it is not in a window, it does not work well.

    Color me impressed
Bought this little antenna as a replacement for cableTV in our new apartment. So far, the reception we have received has been outstanding. We have a new TV too, so there was no need for a conversion box, just hooked it up to the antenna port on the TV and started watching.

PROS: Small and unobtrusive, good performance and so far no issues.

    CONS: None yet

    Fantastic Piece of Tech

I received this unit in return for a fair review.

All I can say first and foremost, this arrived at perfect time. The final Nascar race of the season was coming up and I cut the cord a long time ago with providers. So I was considering bugging a friend to watch it or maybe even local bar or something. A simple unpack, hook up and boom... Nascar in HD on my TV! Sweet!!!! Ok now that that exciting part for me is over, I'll tell you how I found the performance of this unit to be.

    Channels :

My Auto Tune detected 47 DTV signals in my area. After flipping through them, only about half were actually channels on air. But as promised, I was able to received Station emitting HD quality picture. The furthest station from house is 14 miles and there is a major airport right in-between us. I was able to get their station clear. As with the old rabbit ears, a little turn here and there of the antenna can make all the difference.

    Unit:

The antenna is the same size as a normal 8x11 piece of paper. It has a nice small round base that the antenna is secured to by sliding it in the slot in the plastic. It comes with close to 10' of antenna cord, so it does offer some option for placement. Velcro stick pads or base...there shouldn't be anywhere you can't place it effectively.

    Use:

Simply screw the antenna into your TV where your antenna input is. It maybe marked as cable or dish input. Run a channel scan if your TV has the capability and boom, you'll have some HDTV IF, and this is a big IF your local area provides it. I'm happy with the quality of the picture I can get on my 1080p set, and it reminds me why I cut cable in the first place...too many darn commercials!!! One thing to note, it does require pretty much "line of sight". A person walking past with a cell phone did cause the picture to pixelate for a sec , then return to normal.

    Conclusion :

For the money, you can't beat it if you want your local (if provided) HD channels. It's worth picking up in my opinion. This unit is going to the mother in law, but think I'll buy 2 more for rest of my house.

PROS: small, stylish, decent antenna cord length

CONS: lightweight, so can be moved by ceiling fan if it's pushing enough air. Recommend some sort of anchoring if using just the stand.

    Excellent small antenna
I recently installed a TV in the bedroom and wanted to get the local HD channels OTA. I wanted something that would work well yet not take up a lot of space. This has been the perfect answer to what i needed. We get 30 channels OTA and all the HD channels come in nice and super crisp. It plugged in easy and came with a nice small mount which i hid behind a picture frame on my dresser.

PROS: Small size, easy to use and install.
    Gets great HD picture.

CONS: No wall mount options for it or way to hide behind wall mounted TV. You could probably come up with way to make it happen since its so small and lightweight.

After so many over antenna failures...
This is the only one that has worked for me. I was skeptical after all of the others let me down. Plugged it in, channel searched and boom 46 channels located. I couldn't believe it. Channels are crystal clear. This is in my garage but, I am going to test in other locations of my house. If all is good, I will be buying more.

    PROS: i got many channels!
    crystal clear HD

CONS: Visible wire from connector but, who cares because its in my garage.

    Medium Paper thin Antenna
I plugged it in, scanned the channels and WOW- my side by side comparison of the Oscars via cable and over the air- no comparison! the antenna picture is sharper and brighter! Best $9.99 I ever spent!

PROS: Easy to hook up, cheap and works great

    CONS: None!

    Better than more expensive units
I recently picked up 2 of these antennae and I am quite pleased with my purchase. Living in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, I didn't know what to expect with reception. I did my research, almost purchased expensive Mohu antennae, saw that I have some stations coming from one direction and others coming from the opposite, and decided that a few bucks wasn't going to hurt just to try them out. Well, I am happy to say that I pull in 27 channels with little to no dropout even during cloudy weather or storms. We haven't had any big storms so I can't speak to its performance in something crazy, but so far so good. If you're cutting the cord and in the process of deciding between indoor, outdoor, amplified, or passive antennae, this isn't a bad one to check out to see how you do. It's cheap, easy to use, and does what it's supposed to.

PROS: Low cost - low risk, black (aesthetically pleasing), long cord, great reception

    CONS: None so far

    Works great
Antenna seems to work well enough. I am well within the 30 mile range so I can't speak to how well it works in the fringe areas.

PROS: Easy to mount on wall or in stand. Very unobtrusive if hidden correctly. Since it is so lightweight and small very easy to work with.

CONS: None that I can think of.

    Paper thin hdtv antenna
After reading reviews, I bought a few of these for older sets that don't have cable runs to them.I was able to pull up many channel call letters, but no video. It dawned on me that I still need a digital to analog converter to see any signal thru these antennae.. Looks like I'll be able to view many free channels with these antennae, as soon as I buy some converters!

PROS: Lightweight, black color blends in well with most decor

CONS: You will need a newer tv that can accept digital tv signals to fully utilize these antennae. Older TV sets will need a converter box in order to get video thru into ant in jack on tv

    Excellent antenna with great aesthetics
I purchased this for to pair with a 55' LG Smart TV to have some basic channels (primarily news/weather forecast in the mornings) in addition to streaming routine. since getting rid of cable service.

First, this thing looks great. It looks nice next to my TV in its base and doesn't look out of place where I felt i needed to hide it. Since it's black and glossy, it matches the small bezel around the TV. Setup was a piece of cake, plug it in, put it in the base, position it where you want to (if you don't have to 3m it to the wall) and run the setup on the TV. In a matter of minutes I was flicking through approximately 35 channels (NYC area). GREAT pictures quality and good sound. I am glad that Monoprice offered this just as I had begun my search for a decent antenna. This exceeded my expectations

    PROS: All black
    Base included
    Long enough cord

CONS: None - accept that the shipping option I chose was more expensive than the price of the antenna but not really a con.
