Questions and Answers
You just got to make sure it fits between the studs and there is at least 1 inch gap on either side for the flanges that hook up to the dry wall.
This is the BEST sounding center channel I've ever heard for this price! Hands-down. This actually replaced a Polk Audio CS-10 center channel for my living room because my home was pre-wired for 5.1 surround, but I never installed an in-wall center channel because I was afraid of poor sound. I finally broke down and installed this center channel to gain addt'l space in my living room and complete the install. My wife and I were both amazed, and we are now selling the Polk Audio speaker as we will not miss it.
Reviewer Note: I am using 6.5" Monoprice in-ceiling speakers for FR/FL, RR/RL, and now this center channel. I have a 10" JBL powered subwoofer. Stay away from passive subwoofers (garbage!). All hooked up using 14 gauge wire (not my choice, installer used it) to a Denon AVR-E400 AV receiver.
PROS: -Smaller than most in-wall center channels on the market
-Best price vs performance of *any* center-channel speaker I've found
-Backed by Monoprice's customer support
CONS: *not necessarily an issue specific to this speaker, actually applies to all in-wall center channel's*
As noted by previous reviewers, most homes will have a stud right in the center where the speaker needs to go. Often, these speakers are too long in order to be centered properly between left and right channel.
NOTE: No notable sound quality degradation, however, appearance is somewhat degraded since it's slightly off center mounted.
I'm only buying a third because this is for my father-in-law, I don't want to buy a pair and I don't think he will really use it loud or much at all.
PROS: Thin, moderate range and pretty. Nice cross-over.
CONS: Blows easily.

-calibrated and powered with an onkyo receiver and the speakers sound great.
-Very happy with this product!
PROS: -easy install
-great price (bought on sale made it an even better deal!)
PROS: Price, size, sound quality
PROS: Easy installation, grill comes off easily with grill-removal tool, was relatively easy to spray paint after masking off, before mounting. It is a good size compared to my 70" 3D HDTV, might be a little big for smaller TV's. You need to be sure you have enough room between studs when centered with your HDTV, on the wall. Plastic is thick and solid, the dog-ear mounts are well molded, and overall has no vibration when mounted, not cheap. The outer rim around the grill is narrow and looks great.
CONS: Would be great if came in black (as most flat-panel HDTV's are black).
I just installed this speaker as part of my home theater system (along with 2 pairs of 3-way Monoprice speakers as front and rear surrounds). This center channel really enhanced the overall sound stage effect of the system. Voices and other mid-range came through crisp and clear. For the money, this speaker can't be beat. I mounted all speakers in my ceiling as I wanted to minimize the visual impact of the speakers. The finished look is excellent and it has a surprisingly low profile. Obviously, being in-ceiling you need to be extra careful to make sure the grills are secure and some adhesive would be helpful. Mounting was very straightforward and the templates were spot on. However, you need to be extra careful to use the mounting template as I mistakenly used the paint shield template and barely had enough drywall to mount the speaker. Additionally, the design of the dog ear mounting system is a bit different than the 3-way speakers. I would say it is an improvement as the dog ears lock easier and more securely when tightening them down. However, there is not as much clearance range for drywall thickness so I could not use the framing system I had devised for the other speakers. This center channel speaker is lighter than the 3-ways so had I good confidence that attaching them directly to the ceiling drywall was no problem. As other reviewers have noted, I was a bit apprehensive purchasing speakers online, but I can say that this was a great choice and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this speaker again!
PROS: Super performance
CONS: Some supplied adhesive for the grills for in-ceiling applications would be very helpful.
PROS: sounds, appearance, price
PROS: Sounds great, looks good
CONS: Install tabs not the latest
PROS: quick and easy to install, great sound, nice quality
CONS: one of the levers that butt up to the sheetrock in the back broke off. Fortunately the other 5 worked fine.
PROS: Looks nice and sounded great for the first year.
CONS: After one year it has developed a buzz. I've never ran anything loud enough to cause damage and never changed my setup. It's always been straight out of the center channel on my Yamaha receiver. I will have to get a new one.
