A great bargain!!! It was easy to install and rock solid with no wiggle in my Panasonic TH50PX80U plasma @ 78lbs using 6 of the included metric lag bolts and large washers. There is plenty enough room to use the 28AWG HDMI cables that have the large ferrite rings when the mount is set for 0 tilt. It will span 3 studs @ 16in on center but youll need to drill holes for the center stud as there are no holes at the center line of the mount (hence the 9 rating - perhaps MonoPrice could persuade the mfg to make a design change). Warning the included hardware is MORE than sufficient and theres no need to go out and buy grade 8 stainless lag bolts. If you pre-drill the holes for the lag bolts correctly by using a drill bit that is the same diameter as the bolt shaft (without the threads) it goes in quite easily with a cordless drill driver. A little bar soap rubbed on the threads can help as a lubricant if needed. If you snap a bolt head off then you didnt do your prep work correctly. Remember, were talking horizontal sheer strength, not vertical holding strength. There is just enough room in the oval shaped holes to span the 32in for the outside studs. The lag bolt will be at the outside edge of the hole. This could be improved by ensuring 32in falls in the center of the oval holes rather than using the Asian value of 17.8in for stud spacing.
Just mounted my 65" Panasonic plasma this morning, and I'm very pleased with the quality of this mount. Installation with my brother's help was a breeze, and I'm the farthest thing from a handy guy. My only gripe is with the instruction pages. I avoided a huge dilema by chance. The lag screws are listed as 3/8" x 3.5" however, I picked up extra screws at Home Depot in case I needed them, and they are beefier than the screws provided...turns out the provided lag screws are 5/16" x 3.5". Glad I didn't go ahead and drill 3/8" pilot holes! I would have had no idea the printed measurements were incorrect if I didn't actually purchase real 3/8" screws.
PROS: Sturdy, heavy-duty mount, price can't be beat.
CONS: Lag screw measurement is incorrect on the instruction page. Parts listing says 3/8" x 3.5" lag screws and instructions say to drill 3/8" pilot holes! The lag screws provided are actually 5/16" x 3.5. In fact, 3/8" lag screws wouldn't even fit through the holes in the bracket.
Not sure how to rate this b/c Monoprice didnt list the PDP-6020FD 60 Kuro as an incompatible model. From what I can tell about this mount, it seems pretty solid though. Also, since Monoprice doesnt refund the shipping, and I have to ship back, its almost not worth returning, considering its price.
I got this on the east coast in 4 business days! shipped out same day! Mad props to monoprice! I mounted my vizio 47 gv47l tv to this baby with no trouble at all. Took about 30-40 minutes. I actually got it installed by a pro because I'm too scared to do it myself, and he does 2-3 of these mounts per day, and he was amazed at how great of a price was for such quality. Most of his other clients spend between 100-300 for their stands that are the exact same quality! I'm in a high rise so I have steel studs, but that was not a problem for this mount. Definitely Recommend. Only con is that I would have gone for the smaller 2852. This one is too wide, and you can see the bracket if you view the tv from a 45 degree angle on either side. Even though 3 studs are ideal, I just kept it at two, i was able to basically swing my weight (180 lbs) on this and it didnt budge.
If you're looking for something that will span three studs, this will do it, but be aware that the hole placement in the back plate means you'll only be anchoring to two of them, regardless of how you position it. In practice, that turns out to be just fine I'm a big guy, and I can hang from the mounted wall plate with no problems. :)
I was worried that the tilt mechanism was going to be difficult to adjust once the TV was on the wall, but it turns out those fears were unfounded adjustment has been very simple, even with a 65" TV in front.
I would have liked a black option, but it hides behind a TV it's hard to get worked up about that.
PROS: Fantastic price Easy tilt adjustment Spans three studs
CONS: Can only anchor to two studs Only comes in silver
I did snap the very last lag bolt over tightening though after being forewarned here, so I will caution the next guy. I solved this problem by drilling another hole directly above (could be below) the hole I could no longer use. The mount is so wide I could have done the same to mount to 3 studs on 16 inch centers but did just the 2 outer wood studs with 2 lag bolts per stud pre-drilled with 1/8 inch drill bit worked great. Use soap on the lag bolts tighten till the washer rests flatly then done. On the last bolt I tightened till tightly not flatly so it snapped a big regrettable difference. Hope that helps. Oh and I used one of the 2 extra lag bolts supplied.
I was doubtful about the wall mount being so cheap. Boy was I wrong. This is a great mount. Very sturdy and well made. Came with all the bolts, but went to home depot to pick up another setup. Had metal frame and not studs inside. Had to make a brace on the other side of the wall. It all worked out great and very pleased. The mount does stick out about 5-6 inches with the spaces for the brackets. Wish it was alittle more flush, but gave me room to connect everything with it on the wall.
