Can this be mounted directly to drywall or plaster?
    A shopper on Dec 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Being that it is 18" wide, you should be able to at least hit one Stud. Try to make that somewhere in the center of the mount and then use molly bolts on the sides. Again, as Steve said above, weight makes all of the difference. If it is a newer lighter LED TV, you should be ok. Older Plasma pushing the weight limit of the mount, no way!
which size padlock would be required for this wall mount?
    Jigar A on Mar 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you really want a padlock on this, you would have to use a "diary-sized" padlock...this would fit into the flattened end of the rod (the left bottom area of the image)...Are you putting this in a public place? If not, I would not bother with a lock

I purchased 2 of the ultra-slim low profile brackets from Monoprice (at a cost of $11.62 each) to mount two 32" LCDs. The first thing I noticed is the steel isn't as thick as other brackets I've purchased from Monoprice, but it feels sturdy enough to support a 35 lb. LCD w/o bending. This bracket is very low profile. The LCD sits about 1" away from the wall when mounted, so its necessary to attach cables before mounting as there is no room for even the smallest of hands to affix cables when the LCD is mounted to the bracket. I like the fact that this bracket has 2 electrical-box sized cutouts to accommodate in-wall cable runs and a sufficient number of mounting holes, so drilling additional holes to hit a wall stud shouldn't be an issue. Also, the bubble level is convenient, accurate and can be relied upon for a level installation. A bag containing an assortment of lag bolts, machine screws and fasteners for just about every application is included, as well as detailed installation instructions. I gave this bracket a rating of 9 for two reasons. First, I am mounting the bracket to a Sony LCD and found the correct diameter of the provided machine screws to be 1/2" too long for the back of the LCD. Rather than use a pile of washers (per the instructions) or shorten the screws w/ a hacksaw, I went to my local HD store and picked up the correct size screws for my application. While I was there, I also bought a handful of 3" x 1/4" lag bolts to replace the lag bolts that came w/ the bracket, since some reviewers had reported the bolt heads would break off during installation. I'm assuming they didn't pre-drill a wide and/or deep enough hole, which is why the bolts broke. Since lag bolts are only a few cents a piece, I bought enough to mount 2 brackets. Secondly, I don't care for the security bar. Other brackets I've purchased from Monorprice had metal clips that held the lower portion of the bracket in place. This bracket relies on a 1/8" dia. metal bar that laces through the bracket for security. There's a hole at the end of the rode for a tiny padlock to protect against theft. Problem is, the LCD sits so close to the wall once installed onto the bracket that I was unable to lace the bar through the bracket w/o cutting the end of it, which I did. All and all, its a decent bracket for the money and will do the job for which it's intended, albeit you might have to finagle it a bit in order to get it to work for you.

    Very slim. Easy to mount.
Easy to mount. Came with a relatively accurate bubble level built in. I had no problem mounting the bracket onto the wall. It was wide enough to span both wall studs. So slim I can barely get my hand behind the TV or look to see if hanger arms are on right.

The mounting bolts to mount the hanger arms to my Sanyo 32inch LCD was too long. I had to buy shorter ones from that big hardware store. That's explained in the installation instructions.

But the main problem is the safety bar. Imppossible to install when the mounting bracket is so slim. It does not align correct to lock into place. But it's close enough to work.

    Great wall mount
This is the third wall mount I have used in my home, the first was a tilt model from big box store for I think $139, and the bolts stripped on the tilt part. The next two came from Monoprice for less than $20 ea., and one has a tilt that is still holding fine. These are easily as good as, if not better than the high dollar one. Thanks Monoprice!

PROS: Works as good as any wall mount out there, very inexpensive.

CONS: Built in "level" isn't even close. However, having said that, I have another wall mount purchased from a big box store for over $100 that wasn't any better. Use your own level and it's great!
