Questions and Answers
NOTE! On some sets, the VESA mounting holes are too close. This causes the bracket bars on the set to bump into the decorative covers on the wall bracket, necessitating their removal. You can (and should) check this before screwing the wall bracket to the wall. Don't rush installation. With a bit of patience and experimentation, it's possible to get the set at exactly the vertical and lateral position you want. I've done it, and am proud to say so. Be sure to use the right mounting screws. There are different ones for wood and concrete mounting.
CONS: Not worth docking a star for because this is more my apartment's problem, but I wish it came with more than 4 mounting screws. Four are probably enough/plenty to support the maximum weight if I was mounting to studs, but my old apartment just has a stacked 2x4s behind the drywall (crazy) that were a smidge softer than I would've liked. Thankfully I had 4 more screws lying around that worked perfectly.
Another thing I discovered is that although they include a lot of different sized screws to attach the bars to the TV, they didn't include some small/narrow enough for the TV I have. I went online and "chatted" with a rep who's immediate resolution was to process a refund, when what I really wanted was just some smaller screws. I needed M4 size screws and they only include M5 and up. He then tried to say it was my fault and that I should have checked the VESA pattern before I bought this. Told him I had, and that the VESA pattern for the TV (200*100) was well within the specs of the mount (400*400). His only suggestion at this point was for me to visit a hardware store or return the mount. Went back to the TV and tried using the screws that came with it to attach the stand to the neck, but the thread pattern was too wide. I then noticed that the neck was attached with screws. I removed the neck and discovered that those screws were the right size and was able to attach the vertical mounting bars. The rest of the set up was easy.
Would have given 10 stars, except for the missing hardware. Customer service rep had an opportunity to get back that 10th star with better service (instead of pinning it on me), but he failed. Otherwise, I've been happy with Monoprice.
PROS: Easy to set up
Good value for the price
Comes with lots of hardware for mounting to TV
CONS: Specs are a bit off
PROS: Simple installation, built-in bubble level. 4 holes in the wall and a few screws, and you're all set.
Also, includes the longest allen wrench you'll ever see.
CONS: It sits the TV really close to the wall, which is nice but you might have trouble reaching some of the jacks without taking the TV off.
NOTE: Because it is so close to the wall, I had to buy right angle connectors for both the HDMI (part 3850) and coax(part 6775). I expected that though so threw them in the cart when I ordered the mount. They only added $3 to the bill.
PROS: Very close to the wall.
Plenty of room for adjustments for my 43" TV.
CONS: Because it is close to the wall it was tricky getting the locking bar in place.
