BEST ANSWER: The Titans are very heavy, harder for one person to install, but the scissor mechanism is about the same.
Will this support a 85" TV?
    A shopper on Jan 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: IF the mount will bolt up to the TV, and the TV does not exceed the weight capacity of the mount - then you can use this mount for an 85" TV.
If I have wall studs that are 16" apart and are not perfectly centered (both are to the right about three inches), am I able to install this mount in a way that the TV will be centered on my wall?
    A shopper on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You will have no problem centering this mount. Several holes in the mounting plate allow you to place the mount where you need it.
How wide is the mounting plate? If the studs aren't exactly where they need to be in the wall and there's no leeway with the mounting plate, the TV may not be perfectly centered.
    A shopper on Jan 1, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The mounting plate is about 20 inches wide. If your wall studs are 16 inches on center then you shouldn't have a problem mounting this. My house is older and has shiplap boards nailed to the studs, so I was able to just drill holes and use toggle bolts to mount mine where I wanted it.
Does this lock in place? Once extended, does it stay in place?
    JEREMY M on Feb 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Once extended, friction keeps it in place. There isn't any mechanism to lock it in place. Note that this mount also sags and tilts when extended, making the TV out of plumb. Used for a 40" TV at approx 50 lbs.. Hope this helps.
Can I install and 8000 series 65 inch Samsung tv on this bracket?
    A shopper on Mar 17, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I used it for my 75" Sony so it should be fine for your 65" Samsung
I have never bought a wall mount before but should be fine for a screen that lists vesa 400x400 correct? (Samsung UN55KU7500) Thanks!
    Eric B on Jan 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. Yes that is correct as the VESA range is listed as 50 x 50 to 750 x 450 which 400 x 400 falls within. We recommend double checking the weight of your TV to make sure it does not exceed the maximum weight allowed by the mount before purchasing.
Can the brackets support non standard VESA sizes like on some older LG OLED sets? Like 200 x 120?

Great Mount, would like to clarify others install advice
    1. The instruction sheet recommended drill bit size for the lag bolts is 4 mm (5/32"). This is an obvious error that monoprice should fix. The correct size for an M8 lag bolt is 6mm. I used a 7/32" (5.6 mm). It was tight, but not snap the bolt head off tight.

    2. The level on the mount is accurate for the piece that attaches to the wall, contrary to other reviews. The piece the TV attaches to is not locked to the wall plate, and therefore not automatically level as well. There are 4 screws that provide rotational/leveling adjustment. I'd suggest leveling that plate before mounting the TV, and tightening the bolts. Mine was way out. I broke a bushing on one, so just shoot for snug.

    3. When mounting the TV, have the screwdriver ready to lock in the bottom "safety bolts." If the TV is heavy enough to tilt the mount, then you won't be adding them later. It will be required to lock them in when you mount the TV.

    4. TV bracket tilt nobs can't be reach by human hands. I had a needle nose vice grip that got in there. Make sure they are facing out. I installed mine backwards initially, but thankfully before mounting.

    5. The mount drops a heavy TV about 1/2" from fully retracted to fully extended. I didn't know, and affects my installation. Not complaining.

I currently have my 84 lb 50" Plasma fully extended on the mount, and it just floats effortlessly. Great product!

    Pleasantly Surprised
Bought this mount to hang my 46" LCD in my condo. TV is a few years old so it weighs 55lbs or so. Steel stud construction. This TV mount is heavy duty - so it too is heavy. I was able to mount this across 2 studs with self drilling screws and use 4 toggle bolt-style anchors as well as the mount provides so many mounting holes.

I can pull the TV away from the wall and swivel it left and right and its sturdy as can be.

My only complaint is the the motion of the mount is a bit stiff. Its takes more effort than I expected to pull the TV away from the wall.

I have found great value in this TV mount. It's my first TV mount experience and so far so good. I would definitely purchase again.

    PROS: Sturdy construction

    Easy to install

    Great range of motion

    Fantastic price

CONS: Stiff to pull away from the wall

Mounting hardware feels cheap, but it works

    Better than expected
Ok, I don't buy a whole lot of stuff online, and I tend to have a healthy skepticism of reviews (what prevents a company from hiring a kid to make this stuff up and increase sales?). But after installing the above product [3725], I decided I would have to add my own praise.

It's well documented that similar mounts are 2-3X the price. I am decently handy so I figured even if there were some minor problems with the mount, I could fix it somehow.

There are no problems with this mount. It is excellent. Exceptionally well made, thick gauge steel on plates, aluminum arms, mechanisms work well, sturdy.. almost makes you wonder how they keep the QC this high at this price point.

I installed it last night while the mount is great, I would only change two things. One, one of the pictures has a minor error (does not show safety screw, so you need to think to figure out which TV back-mounting bracket goes right or left). This is not problematic. Two, it calls for a 5/32" pilot hole for the 5/16" lag bolts. I drilled mine slightly larger (general rule of thumb is roughly 75% the shank diameter, not 50% you can find tables online or ask your nearest handyman) to avoid overtorquing and busting the bolt heads while twisting into holes too small. I also used my own level - I found that the 2" level in the mount was a bit of gimmick and wasn't quite accurate.

Bottom line though is if you use the right tools (level, right pilot hole), it goes up perfect, snug, strong no regrets, amazed at mechanisms for adjustment, etc. Very high quality mount! Stop reading and buy it.

    PROS: Sturdy
Easily adjustable after mounting for perfect leveling
    Allen wrench, all hardware included

CONS: Instructions that could use a copy editor
    Mickey-mouse leveler

PROS: There is no better swing arm adjustable TV bracket on the market period. The nearest competition will cost you $200 anywhere and isn't as smooth operationally nor as well thought out. When you want all the bells and whistles but don't want to pay the price.....shop Monoprice and buy this mount.

CONS: I would always mount a TV mount with lag bolts into studs and they are not included (every other possible needed hardware items are) but it is so much easier to drive lag bolts due to the hex heads rather than a phillips headed bolt. I always have to take a trip to the store and spend an additional $3 OMG..... but I will live with that all day long LOL

    Fantastic mount
I bought this mount after looking around for a long time and being very nervous about some of the full motion mounts out there. Most of them never seemed all that sturdy or had cheap hardware. This mount is great, and man is it heavy duty. Mounted my 42" LCD in under an hour, all hardware (and then some) is provided. Once I got it hung on the wall I hung from the unit (175lbs) and it did not even flex. Impressive. This was my first purchase at Monoprice, and I have since made quite a few more.

PROS: very sturdy, easy to install, moves smoothly, price is ridiculously low for the quality

    CONS: none

Best mount for the money period!
After purchasing this ones little brother(PN 8589) for my daughters 32" in her bedroom I upgraded my none swivel wall mount in my bedroom (47" TV ). My fiance often rearranges the bedroom and sometimes it ended up with a less than desirable viewing angle to the TV. Well those days are over my friends this mount will come out far enough to nearly turn 90 degrees in either direction from the mounting wall. I couldn't be happier.
These mounts are STRONG! Provided they are bolted into the studs in the wall. I'm 6'2" ~ 225lbs and I could do a chin up on this mount. Obviously not recommended but it is really strong.

    PROS: Works as advertised
    Exceptionally strong
    Easy to install
    Looks great
    Swivels Baby!

CONS: Tilting feature is kind of weak but I wanted the swivel part much more and that is awesome!

    Product ID 5920 replacement
I purchased a 58" Panasonic plasma TV, weighing in at aprroximately 85 lbs. Originally bought product 5920 since it was rated at 200 lbs. It the design of the tilting mechanism would not keep my TV from leaning forward. It may be the weight distribution of the TV, but it just would not work despite modifications I made to try and strengthen the mechanism. The best part of this experience was the customer service provided by Monoprice personnel, namely Jimmy Nguyen. There was no issue it getting a replacement, from supplying the return postage, toassisting with the store credit. Great job!

Now for the replacement mount, part 3725. This mount went up with no issues. I did follow some of the other comments by using a 7/32" drill bit for pre-drilling the lag bolt holes. They went in snug, but not too snug. I think the recommended hole size, 5/32", owuld have been too small for the bolts.

The brackets for mounting the TV are much better for this model of TV and provide for a far greater choice in attachment location when tweaking the height at which you want to hang the TV on the mount. There are two locking mechinsms to control the forward/backward tilt (as opposed to one for the 5920)' and they work very well. While this mount is "only" rated at 175 lbs, it is my beleif that will hold any TV out there. You may need to consider the 5920 if you require more than 20" extension, but for my needs, it was excellent.

    Greet Mount!!!

PROS: Excellent mount, excellent design, excellent price, excellent service!

CONS: Such a popular mount, I had to wait three weeks because it was back ordered.

I have a closet that I have converted into an entertainment center. I wanted to be able to "put the tv away." This wall Mount Bracket, with its dual arm design, allows me to extend the tv at least 18 inches, which, when pushed back in, also allows me to close the doors on my closet. The wide range of motion makes it possible to see the tv from the kitchen. My expectations were a little extreme, but if you're looking for motion and a design that can handle it, this bracket is excellent. There's not a bit of sag. My tv is a 39 inch, which is on the smaller side of this bracket's capability, but I'm sure it would handle the larger sizes mentioned in the specs it's one solid bracket.

    PROS: Several:
+Product description (images/info.) matched actual product
+Wide selection of fasteners for various applications
    +Sturdy & well constructed
+Range of movement is all that I was hoping for
    +Dual arms

    CONS: Just one:
-If you plan to move the tv frequently, you may want to secure the contact points where the bracket engages the hardware attached to the tv. There tends to be some lateral movement. I intend to rectify this situation with a simple clamp or bolt.

    Great Mount for the Money
I received this mount yesterday and did the install. It's definitely a great product for the money, but there are some things that need work.

    The Good:
    1) Solid construction - the mount is made from heavy gauge steel and CNC aluminum. The connecting bolts on the arms are 1/2" steel, and have nylon washers for better movement (I'll comment on this later).

    2) Universal - this mount has all the hardware to mount pretty much all but the biggest TVs. You can save the hardware and mount a new TV when needed. However, you probably won't want to re-use the lag screws.

    3) Relatively easy to install - The instructions are fairly clear, and ultimately you're only drilling 4 holes and fastening 8 screws with a bit of measuring and leveling. A basic DIY’er could easily do the job. You'll need a buddy to lift bigger TVs though.

    4) Adjustments - You'll have plenty of range of motion with the tilt and swivel. I mounted the TV a little higher and tilted it down and it works just fine. It might be a little difficult to move through its range of motion but nothing a little grease or WD-40 won't fix. Remember you can always loosen the screws on the arms.

    The Bad:
    1) The Instructions/hardware - In the instructions it says for both the concrete and wood stud installation that you need to drill a 2.5" deep pilot hole with a 3/16: drill bit. I have two problems with this. The lag screws are 5/16" x 3.5" and will bottom out in the pilot hole before you ever snug up the wall mount. Also, 3/16" pilot hole is a bit tight for a 5/16" lag screw. The general rule is 3/4 of the diameter for soft wood (~15/64"). In addition there is a 5/16" shank that's about 1" long near the head of the screw. Technically you'll need to widen the pilot hole for the length of the shank or it will bottom out in the pilot hole as well. You'll find it difficult to find a 3/16" drill bit that will go 3.5" deep once put into your drill.

My solution was to use shorter screws (5x16" x 3"), a larger bit (7/32"), and to widen the pilot hole for the shank about 3/4" into the pilot hole. I also drilled 3" deep into the stud. Following the directions I broke off a screw in the wall. Unless the mount was designed to not have the screws tightened snug against the mount and wall (doubtful) the instructions probably won't work for most people.

    2) Missing washers? - After installing the mount, but before attaching the TV I noticed there was some play in the connection of the arms to the TV mounting plate. Upon closer inspection I saw there were not nylon washers between the plate and the arms. The connections couldn't be tightened because the plate is pretty thick and won't bend much. I corrected for the tilt by rotating the TV mounting plate as suggested in the Knowledge Base. I'm not sure if this is a design flaw, or a Quality control issue. It's a relatively easy fix with a couple of washers from the Home Depot, but it should be correct out of the box.

    Overall Opinion:
I really do like the mount and can appreciate the construction. The install was pretty simple, but the instructions could use a revision or more in-depth explanation for beginners. A paper template would also make things easier, but isn't required. The adjustments can be a bit difficult, but it you have a heavy TV (70lbs) it's to be expected. Right now my Panasonic P50V10 is sitting nicely on the wall. There is a bit of sag, but it's not noticeable. Those that are worried about sag should probably go with just a tilt mount. I would definitely suggest that for people with plasma TVs since they have a wide viewing angle.

Thanks Monoprice for the great product. I look forward to future purchases

    excellent quality @ cheap price
This is the fourth 8587 TV wall mounting bracket I have purchased from you guys over the past year. It is super heavy-duty and easy to install. I have recommended this particular item to several people and would recommend it to anyone who wants a quality product at a fair price.

PROS: Excellent quality, easy installation, excellent price

    CONS: None
