The installation of this was easy! I installed it on a stud so I just predrilled a hole, then screwed this bad boy up. It's holding my 42" LCD (~40lbs) and I can swivel it around from one wall to the next, or in the corner as I like it. Very strongly built.
I really like this mount. I used 6 of them to mount TVs on the gluelam beams of a church recently. They worked like a champ on the 46" Samsung LED TVs. They were easy to adjust and easy to lock the tilt into place. I ran into a small problem with two 40" Samsung LED TVs. These use a 200x200 VESA mount, and the 7846 front plate has 200x200 holes if you don't use the "wings" so I thought I was golden. Unfortunately, the front plate has small slots and holes in the 200x200 positions and I had to use a saw and a drill to modify them so that the large screws (10mm in package slots "C" and "D") would fit through the mount plate and into the TV. This isn't actually very easy because you have to expand the upper slots all the way around (sides and bottom) so that a 10mm bolt can slide into the slot and come to rest in the proper position compared to the other slots and holes. I would absolutely have given this a rating of 10 if the front plate had been compatible at VESA 200x200 with the large screws supplied with it. (It is compatible with the large screws at 100x200 and 200x100, only 200x200 has the problem.) It appears to me that item 5921 is the very same mount, but missing the wings. If so, it will have the same problem with VESA 200x200 mounting.
PROS: This is a very sturdy mount, that is easy to setup and works very well. The cable guides were a nice touch. The appearance is very professional. A local church member saw me opening up the packages and remarked "Those must cost a bundle!". I had to agree that they look much more expensive than they are.
CONS: This is minor, but I had to modify the front plate on one of these to handle a Samsung 40" LED TV (6000 series).
I got this mount for my 51" plasma and it works great! Feels really sturdy and worked out great. I'd recommend this mount to anyone!
The one thing that was a pain was locating the mounting plate relative to the center of the TV. Make sure to DO THE MATH to locate the center of the wall plate relative to the center of 4 VESA holes if your installation requires. The 3 holes that hold the mount to the wall ARE NOT centered with the 4 VESA holes in the mount. If you don't do the math your TV MAY NOT FIT where it should have. It's a good 10% horizontal offset! The vertical is less, but still exists.
Overall, very happy with the purchase and quality. Just make sure to DO THE MATH if your installation requires something to be centered!
Mounted hundreds of TVs. I continue to order this mount because it works so well in so many situations...
...but has a steep learning curve. Too many times I intended to use this to mount a client's TV only to discover that the "petals" that make this such a flexible mount also tend to cover a vast expanse of the back of the TV. In fact, several times I have had to use a different mount in order to simply be able to plug in more than one HDMI cable.
If your TV has "edge-set" ports that run parallel to the front of the TV, you may be OK - the further out toward the edges of the back of TV they are the better off you are. But if your connections are anywhere near the center of the TV, you may be disappointed.
Nice mount in any case. Have hung in excess of 80lbs on it without incident. Like all "full motion" mounts you have to twiddle the various angles and adjustments to make it tight enough to hold still when you move the TV away from the wall, as even the strongest mount will not keep everything "square" - you have to adjust an angle here and there when moving the TV so it is level. Getting that tension just right is a PITA for this as well as any other full motion mount. But Monoprice makes it easier with a spring-loaded tension adjuster (why isn't that mentioned in the sales literature or owner's manual - it is a major selling point).
Be willing to invest some time to get it adjusted just right. Be willing to replace it if it blocks your TV's ports.
The instructions for installation were pretty easy to follow aside from the fact that the screws were too big. We had to run to Home Depot to get new screws but the mount fit our TV with no problem. The top of the mount does stick out a bit at the top but it is mounted high enough that you don't easily notice it. I like that the TV can be adjusted to any which angle even in our awkwardly shaped living room. The only con that I have is that the weight of the TV causes it to hang to one side after a while. Other than that, it was a great buy at a fraction of the cost of a similar mount.
PROS: -easy to install -large enough for big TVs (42") -turns/swivels in any direction
CONS: -screws did not fit perfectly -TV leans to one side after prolonged use
This is by far one of the best wall mounts available right now! Why pay $130+ at the local electronics store for a wall mount when you can buy the same/similiar one on monoprice for $35?! This one does everything that the higher priced ones at the store does! VERY strong. I hung my 43" plasma by myself! Yes, I did it myself and it was easy to do. I would definatley buy it again!
PROS: Wires are hidden by a plastic piece on the side of the bracket. Easy to hang with one person. Secured to wall by 3 screws (which are provided). Made of VERY strong metal/steel.
This mount is great. I bought two of them. Used one on a 400mm x 200mm and one was a 200mm x 200mm mount. Brackets were easy to install for the larger unit. All the holes line up just needed to run the screws in and out of the threads to clean the paint out first. I am surprised with how well the unit holds the weight, no deflection when load is applied. I had to use a few of my own screws to replace the junky ones that were included but I guess any similar product would have the same quality fasteners.
PROS: Looks great, sturdy, easy to install, lots and lots of positions to view the screen. The highest degree of tilt and swivel thats available as far as i know
Great product for the price. No way I could have got a better mount for the money. Just get a friend to help put it on your wall. Overall I recommend it.
PROS: Great product, It does everything I could want in a wall mount. I have a 55" samsung. There is no better mono stud wall mount for the price. It goes in all directions and tilts down.
CONS: A little difficult to assemble and you will need two people to mount unless you are really strong or incredibly gifted at mounting tvs. We had to hold the TV up and put the back top bracket on after held up to the mount because of the placement of the screws. This may only be because of the type of TV i have.
I needed to wall mount a 40" Sony Bravia that has 200 x 300 (200 height x 300 width) VESA mounting pattern. Since this mount does not list this size, I anticipated needing to modify the mount for my application. What I did was to use the upper and lower wings on only one side. This provided the needed 300mm spacing for the width. I did not use them on the right side. I also used the provided spacers so the metal parts were not directly on the TV. Since the VESA mounting holes are very low on this TV, I trimmed the lower wing so it was not visible at the bottom of the set. Aside from trimming the wing, no other holes or modifications were needed. The mount is rigid and sturdy when installed in this fashion. When installed as provided the TV will not be centered when the mount is folded close to the wall. By eliminating the wings on the right side it is now almost centered - within a few inches. There is no mention of this mounting option in the manual, but the result was a very secure installation for my VESA configuration. It easily supports this 17 pound, 40" Sony TV at full extension.
Except for initial leveling and holding the mounting plate to mark the mounting screw hole locations on the wall, no assistance was needed for installation. Just plan your assembly steps to avoid wrestling with a heavy TV to insert mounting screws. The provided assembly instructions are brief, but should be adequate for most DIYers.
The build quality and hardware where much better than expected. The metal parts are rigid and nicely finished. I always use the correct size bits to tighten hardware. I drilled pilot holes into the wall stud and avoided using too much torque to reduce the risk of damaging screw heads. This is especially important if using power tools. VESA screws on the TV should ALWAYS be tightened by hand. The result was no stripped heads.
The only casualty were the flimsy plastic retaining pins on the two cable guides that attach to the arms. All the pins easily snapped right off when placing them back onto the arms. Thank goodness for cable ties from my tool box - an easy fix to hold the cable guides in place. As designed these miniscule retaining pins are just not robust enough to do anything useful except to hold them in place during packing and shipping. The cable guides themselves are a nice touch, just not functional with the existing retaining pin design. Otherwise, this mount is a 10 out of 10.
PROS: Sturdy construction. Easy to assemble and install. Fits an array of VESA sizes. Hardware was better than expected for an imported product. The TV can be turned fully in both directions with the arms extended with no sagging.
CONS: Plastic cable sleeves have flimsy retaining pins that snapped right off. Needed cable ties to secure the sleeves in place. Plan to accommodate that the mount is offset to one side when folded.
