I received this TV mount yesterday. The bolt in the elbow sheared right off in my hand just as I was getting ready to slide it onto the wall mounted bracket. Luckily the TV was not attached at that point. Since this TV mount is located in my daughter's playroom, we are really lucky it didn't break apart later on. I went to the hardware store and bought a $1 3" steel bolt to replace the hinge with and after fixing the issue myself and finally mounting the TV correctly with a nice tight, the TV sags downward a bit. This is not a heavy tv. In fact it is just a 20" Sony. I would not recommend using this mount for anything over this size and be sure to test the bolts thoroughly before hand. I feel a bit better about the mount now that I have a good bolt in place, but I will be shopping around for a better product later on today.
PROS: The backplate / wall bracket seems to be very sturdy when mounted correctly into a wall stud. The wood screw phillips heads didn't strip away like some cheaper screws would do when turning them. It has not killed anyone (yet). It was ~$20.
CONS: There are plastic clips holding the arm into the slot for the wall bracket that don't appear to be very good quality. The arm's elbow bolts may shear off before you even use it. The plastic cap on top of the wall bracket doesn't fit if you run the cables up through the framework. The arm bows slightly once the TV is mounted with a small tv.
Got two of these units for a dual 24" monitor setup on a small desk with no room. easy mounting on the wall, good articulation and movement. adjusting is a little tricky especially moving up or down. the arm is held solid in the wall mounted base based on weight and lever action in a channel. Without the weight the arm will slide up and down freely and the bottom is open except for a plastic push on cover. If you don't support the arm when you lift the weight to adjust the height then it can and probably will just drop to the desk or the length of your cords. Just be forewarned. Other than that I am pleased with the value and quality of the purchase.
PROS: Solid easy to install, about what I expected.
Overall I am satisfied with this mount, but it did need a bit of work before I could complete the installation. Namely, I had to pretty much completely disassemble the mount and tighten all the internal concealed fasteners to remove a lot of the slop in the various joints. This includes the 360 degree rotational joint post and both of the 180 degree hinges, all needed to be adjusted. Fortunately, removing the various plastic end caps, nylock nuts, phillips screws and snap rings needed to make the adjustments is not difficult. Note that this is in addition to the documented adjustment of the ball retention ring.
One thing to be careful of, there are some tiny clear 'rubber band like' pieces that are part of the arm assembly that goes inside the wall bracket, make sure not to knock these off as they are not easy to find after you've dropped them - especially if you didn't even realize they were there, or could come off...
PROS: Generally well designed, a fairly solid bracket assembly once it is adjusted
CONS: Not ready to go out of the box, needed to be disassembled and tightened before installation
These mounts hold monitors in desk with credence (no access to screw the mount to the tabletop) very nicely. Finally my desk looks clean.
My only gripe is that the silicon bands preventing the monitor up/down movement tend to slip when a big truck drives in the street (or when the kids push the top of the screen back). I had to insert some sticks cut to the length between the bottom retainer and the sliding piece to make sure they wouldn't move anymore.
PROS: Rather sturdy construction Looks nice Cleans up your installation Makes your desk more flexible in terms of layout.
I have 4 monitors in my office and my personal computer has a 30" and a 24" monitors. I started feeling like my wall of monitors was being counter productive. I bought this wall mount to put the 24" monitor above my 30" display. The description/schematics to me seemed like the mount was adjustable height wise and it is not, after drilling some holes and adding in locations to custom fit the swing arm stop "L" bracket, it is now adjustable to where I want the monitor to sit exactly. For such a low price I was amazed at how high quality build the monitor arm is. I have installed multiple wall mounts of this build as other family members have them shipped to their house. Once they adjust their monitor to where they want it, I move it.......
PROS: Works as intended
CONS: Everybody keeps trying to move my flipping monitor!
The mount is rated to hold 15kg. I mounted a TV that is listed at 10kg with its stand ( which I removed). The mount immediately started to bend at the hinges. I took it down right away for fear that my tv would come crashing down. This would be ok for on of the very light 22" tvs, not for anything even approaching its rated weight capacity. Monoprice sells better mounts than this.
