What is the minimum and maximum adjustable height for this monitor bracket and what is the maximum reach for the monitor from the pole??
    Jennifer S on Jun 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. From the bottom of the pole to the top of the pole you would be able to adjust the height to about 11.8". At the bottom it would really depend on the size of the monitor for depending on the size it would affect the lowest point it can reach before the monitor touches the desk. The arm will extend out a maximum of 22.8". I hope this helps.

Do the arms on this mount "nest" above each other? Meaning, do they go flat above each other? One to the left, the one above it to the right so the monitor is back against the pole? The one I have now only bends at 90° angles ( http://www.monoprice.com/product?c_id=113&cp_id=11326&cs_id=1082808&p_id=16245&seq=1&format=2 ) I need it to go all the way back to the pole mount.

BEST ANSWER: The arms do not nest, but if the pole is positioned properly, the monitor will go flat to the wall. I put the support pole to the side of the monitor, to allow it to go flat. I am using 27" monitors, and the mount supports the weight, and adjusts quite well. With my configuration, the poles are hidden behind other monitors.
how far away from pole can I place monitor?
    A shopper on Jan 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Not sure about an actual distance. I have this mounted on the back corner of my desk and the monitor is entirely outside the edge of the desk, so it will extend a fairly good distance. Mine is a 22", and pretty light. I wouldn't want to try it with a heavier monitor, though.
What's the diameter of the column? I'm looking to add another arm to an existing mount.
    A shopper on Sep 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Diameter is 1 and 1/8 of an inch.
What's the minimum thickness of the desk that this needs to clamp to?

I've been clamping product 5402 onto 0.5-inch-thick desks, but have needed to add a block to pass the minimum clamping length.
    Ricky W on Jun 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, you can clamp this product all the way closed, so there is no minimum thickness as long as your desk top is sturdy enough.

Great bracket, but be careful how you mount to desk with large displays
Despite my ignorance in mounting the product the first time, I should have seen this coming. My monitor was larger than recommended, although the weight was within spec, and my desk was not proper hard wood. I'll blame myself for that. I still find this to be an exceptional product. I love the space it creates under my monitors and how I can pivot them in, out and around whenever I want. I have 2 of these set up. I decided to go with 2 of these instead of a dual mount just because I wanted to be sure I could have them exactly where I want. They are mounted with about 1 foot between each other.

Make sure you bolt it properly to your desk if using larger than recommended monitors and don't use those 3 black screws!

PROS: Great length, feels strong, can manoeuvre any way you like, multiple mounting options, good cable management.

CONS: My desk does not have an overhang at the rear, so I could not use the clamp. I instead used the 3 included screws and screwed it directly into the surface of my desk. I mounted an over-size 27" LCD panel to the bracket. I could see it was torquing up on the desk where it had been screwed in, but appeared to be holding fine. 3 weeks later, I came home to find that it had fallen over and ripped out of the desk. Lucky for me, the monitor edge landed on my keyboard tray and was balanced there, and did not sustain any damage. I did not realize until this moment that my desktop surface was not hardwood, but cheap particle board, and the veneer had been ripped up when it fell over. I went to Home Depot, bought some 2 inch bolts that would fit the mount along with some washers and nuts. I cleared up the fibre stuff that was pulled out of the desk and drilled the existing holes through the desk, then re-mounted the stand with the new bolts, washers and nuts. I tightened it well and you can't even tell anymore that it had pulled out. Now it appears to be holding extra solid and nothing's going to rip it out again.

    A "good enough" mount
There are tons of really expensive monitor mounts and I'm sure that some of them are better than this mount. They also cost triple what this one costs. I've ordered dozens of them and they're all doing just fine (though they are sometimes a little loose and need to be tightened so that the monitors don't droop.)

PROS: Cheap, Monoprice is super-easy to work with if there's a bad one

CONS: The clamp is a little thick so double-check that you have clearance if you're mounting close to a wall or office panel. They are also a little bit loose and sometimes need some extra tightening.

PROS: A+1 Quality, sturdy and very well built with quality materials.

    CONS: none

    very sturdy and adjustable
Even with all that being said i would without hesitation buy from mono price and this product. shipping was fast and i received it undamaged.

PROS: This stand is very sturdy, once you get it into position it stays there. you can also make slight adjustments if you want with out loosening the whole thing. I also liked the fact that you can take out sections of the arms so that you can make it short for those tight squeezes between your desk and the wall.

CONS: The only con is that i had to but two arms and mount them to the same pole for the setup i wanted, because the double ones arms cant be individually adjusted for height. I have two 21.5 inch monitors one mounted portrait and the other in landscape. another issue is i had to take apart the section that turns the monitor into portrait to tighten the bolt, it would try to spin if i hadn't. this was due to my monitors mount area being off center, but it still had to be done.

    Rock Solid
If you are debating between this desk mount and the 5402, Stop, now click add to cart above. There, now you have made a very wise choice.

I love this mount! I am using it for my 27" HP monitor and it's like a rock, yet still flexible enough to move around when needed. I firmly believe Monoprice needs to double check the weight limit listed on this mount this thing is a beast.

My only complaint is with the mounting plate. I had to scrap a bit of paint off the inside where the arm attaches so it would slide in all the way. This didn't bother me because I knew it was gonna fit nice and tight without any wiggle or play, which is good.

It comes with the parts to mount it directly to the desk with screws (these screws seem a little short, I will problem get longer ones if I ever attach it this way) and the clamp attachment to clamp it to the side of your desk. When I opened the box I knew I had made the right choice buying this over the cheaper 5402 and you will too. Spend the extra money cause its money well spent.

    PROS: -High quality
    -Easy to setup
    -Looks Great

CONS: -Heavy (not that you'll be carrying it around much, unless you travel with it.)

My desk has a very small lip that I could use to attach the clamp to, so I was originally going to screw the back plate of the clamp (keeping the top connection to the mast) to the back of my desk. The holes that I would have been able to use were too big for screws so, although I didn't really want to drill holes in my desk top, I ended up using the grommet connection. I couldn't be happier with that decision. The grommet connection holds up nicely. I did have some trouble adjusting the height of the mount arm on the mast (the vertical pole) because the connector to the mast is extremely hard to tighten enough to keep the arm from sliding. I wish they had implemented some sort of worm screw/gear type of height adjustment. That would have really made this mount almost perfect.

All in all, this mount holds my monitor where I put it, so the initial setup is really the only complaint.

PROS: Has capability for attaching via a clamp or screwed directly to desk top.
*Holds up my 23.6" monitor with no sag (10lbs).
*Allows for monitor rotation to landscape (my 23.6" monitor can just barely clear the desk top with this stand at its highest)
*Strong and easy to adjust on all joints EXCEPT vertical (see cons).
*Comes with anti-scratch pads for the clamp to preserve desk top.
*Desk clamp can hook onto a thin desk (such as glass) without trouble.
*Grommet connection is very solid. The stand does not move.
*Individual joints can be tightened or loosened individually.
*Up/Down tilt is strong, though difficult to work with (see cons).

CONS: *The clamp is BIG. It cannot hook onto desks with a small desk top overhang lip (you need about 2" minimum of desk to hook onto).
    * The vertical adjustment is done with a friction clamp like some speaker stands. It does its job but is hard to tighten enough and is generally difficult to work with. You will feel like you're about to break the tightening lever before you get it tight enough to hold.
    * The vertical adjustment uses a plastic rather than a rubber friction pad. This lets the friction clamp rotate on the mast in some instances if it's not tight enough.
    * The up/down tilt adjustment is hard to tighten. It uses the supplied allen wrench to tighten a bolt but the allen wrench is not long enough to comfortably tighten this joint as far as you'll need to. I suggest pliers or some other method of increasing torque when tightening.
    * The cable clips cannot easily hold three or more cables. I suggest velcro or some other attachment system if you use more than two large-diameter (power, DVI, VGA, HDMI) cables.

    Perfect for my needs
This is the perfect monitor mount for my needs. I'm adding them to my desk by clamping it to the back lip of my desktop. Its better to have two of these than one mount for monitors that costs more than double. You have full adjustment in height, depth, swivel, rotate, and tilt. Arrange your monitors for your space. Working on a long list and want to rotate your monitor and view it in portrait, just rotate the monitor and adjust the display settings and voila. My new monitor stands are my favorite feature of my desk, now.

    PROS: Large Range of motion.
    Completely adjustable
Rotate the display for portrait or landscape
    Very Sturdy

CONS: The clamp range needs to be extended about 3/8" I had to remove the pad to fit it on my desk and it still barely fit.

PROS: Low Cost, Sturdy, easy to install and functional

    CONS: Instructions could be better
