How large of a space do you need to clamp this to? I have a desk which has a back which would leave only 3/4" to 1" to clamp to.
    Devon H on Nov 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, thank you for your question. Unfortunately this mount would not be the best solution for your particular need as 1 inch is not enough space to safely attach the mount to the desk. I apologize for the inconvenience
Can this be mounted upside down? I am looking for a mount to mount a small and light TV VESA 100 by 100 on to structural iron and to mount and Apple TV to the back of it.

    A shopper on Nov 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this mount will not work as designed if mounted upside down. The gas spring counteracts gravity at the right orientation to allow the monitor to hover, but if upside down, the gas spring will push towards the same direction as gravity and will push the monitor down and prevent easy adjustments. Hope this helps. A different option you might want to consider is to mount a gas spring on a wall. It would still be right side up but could give you options, check out product 16125 if it might work. Hope this helps.
How wide is the clamp? Will it fit through a desk grommet hole?
    Wade A on Nov 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this desk mount comes with a grommet mount that should work with the desk grommet hole you mentioned. But if you still need the measurement, the clamp itself is about 3.5"x4". Thanks for asking.
The weight limit is listed as 9kg. The Dell U3011 monitor is 9.3kg. Has anyone ever put the max weight on this thing? Does it hold? Does the extra 11 ounces make a difference?
    Mark M on Jul 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I haven't maxed it out but I have a HP 32Q 32 inch monitor on it (18 lbs, 8.1 kg) and no problems. Is your momnitor weight with or without the stand? My stand adds 2 lbs to the weight of the monitor...Good Luck
Can this be bolted to a wall or desktop, rather than clamped?
    Google E on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: this can be bolted to a desktop. It comes with an attachment for that specific application. You will have to drill a hole in the top of your desk to insert the bolt through. And then you'll have to crawl underneath the desk to tighten it. I do not believe that this could be used on a wall.
Could this be used to mount a 32" TV? The weight is not an issue, but I'm wondering if the actual mount will fit at TV.
    A shopper on Dec 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: To determine compatibility with a TV mount to your TV, please determine the VESA mounting pattern on the back of your TV. It is the 4 screw hole square formation on the back and it is usually listed on the TV specs or you can find out by measuring it yourself(measured in millimeters). Our TV mounts range from 50x50mm to 1000x700 and up so please check the TV mount specs for compatibility as well. I hope this helps, thank you!
Will this mount allow you to swing the monitor back and down so that half (or more) of the monitor is below the surface it is clamped to? I would use the clamp mounting method for the arm
    Douglas B on Jan 6, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I have an LG ultra-wide monitor on my arm. I even tried to spin the monitor around (with the back facing me) to see if I could get it lower than the table top. Any way I moved it, It only went down so far such that the bottom of the monitor was at table-top level, not below.
what is the width/depth of the portion of the clamps that sits on top of the desk surface? From the photos it looks about 4"x4"? Thanks
    Devon W on Dec 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's closer to 3 and 3/4" squarish, with the back narrower than the front. My desk is not stout and my monitor is large (34") so I layered a small plywood piece under the desk for reinforcement where the mount clamps.
Is there a wider bracket that can be used for this mount if my desk is thicker and the normal bracket won’t lock to desk?
    A shopper on Mar 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Not that I know of, but you don't have to use the clamp.

The clamp mount wouldn't work with my desk's overhang, so instead I chose to use the simple grommet mount straight through the desktop. To brace my desk's relatively thin surface I added a 6"x6" piece of 3/4" plywood, underneath the desk, drilled to match the bolts. It's clamped down _tight_ and is very stable with my Acer 34"
will this mount fit the imac 21.5'?
    A shopper on Jan 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Apple sells adapters so that you can use a wall mount, I would assume that it would work with this.
Is it possible to have the clamp be front facing? I'd like to mount it to the front of the windowsill behind my desk.
    Peter T on Jul 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The pivot near the base will not spin a full 180 degrees. It will go about 150 degrees (in either direction). Unless you need the absolute full extension of the mount, it should do what you need.
How do you get the bottom cable cover off?
    Chuck H on Apr 2, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I don't have mine in front of me, but the cover slides up (or possibly down) along the length of the arm then just pulls away.
What is the weight of the of the arm unit itself?
    A shopper on Jun 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi, this monitor mount is a little over 9 lbs heavy. Hope this helps. Thanks.
When adjusted to its lowest height, what is the distance between the top of the desk and the bottom of the VESA mount bracket?
    James A on Jul 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, the minimum height at the lowest setting is around 6.7".
Lost allen wrenches. What size are they?
    A shopper on Apr 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 4mm for the bolts, and 6mm for the adjustments.
Is there enough clearance from the desk to be able to rotate a 32 inch monitor 90 degrees to portrait mode?
    Jay L on Mar 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, you should have no issues being able to have a 32" monitor rotate 90 degrees to portrait mode. However, you may run into issues depending on the location of the mounting holes on your monitor. I would recommend raising it to its highest point to ensure it clears the desk. I hope this helps.
How do I rotate my monitor 90 degrees, from horizontal to vertical?

Do I need to unscrew the mount on the back of the monitor, rotate it manually and reattach?
    christopher a on Feb 17, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No, simply twist rotate the screen.
Going to be using potentially 2 of these. One with a LG 29UB55-B Ultrawide Monitor, 11lbs without the stand, and a 27" Acer Monitor. What would the minimum thickness of desk be that I can use to clamp onto? I'm looking at one that's around 1/2-1" thick and I want to be certain that is going to be sufficient.
    Brian R on Jan 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi, yes, those thickness measurements fall within the clamp's range of .4"-3.3". If you are planning on using two monitors, you might also want to consider the dual mount version of this product, (search 15525).
Could I mount this upside down from an overhead support to pull down or is it balanced for normal orientation only?
    Jason R on Dec 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Hello, due to warranty and safety concerns this has not been tested for overhead orientation. So it is not recommended to be aligned that way. Thank you for your understanding in the matter.
What is the size of the display pictured in the photos of this product?
    A shopper on Mar 13, 2018
I need to be able to move the monitor's up high in the morning and lower in the afternoons. Is this frequent movement of the monitors quick and easy? Do I need special tools to make the changes or can it all be done by handling the monitor in the direction I intend it to go?

Easy to install and works as intended
I've tried several desk mounting solutions for my home office and often found them lacking. Adjusting the height and position is always a giant pain in the butt. This product has two big things going for it:
    1) It attaches to even skinny desks firmly and easily.
    2) Once the mount has been adjusted to the weight of your monitor, it repositions very easily. Putting the monitor exactly where I want it is super easy now that it is dialed in.

One Note: The instructions mention that you need to tighten the gas spring in step 4. If you have a heavy monitor, just keep tightening until the unit will hold it up. It took me awhile, but I eventually got there, and now it's great.

PROS: - Easy to mount to even skinny desks
    - Mount clamp uses wide surface area and a thick handle and plate, confident that it is held well to the desk with minimal frustration to tighten/install
    - Very easy to reposition, move monitor in a wide range of motion
    - Included cable routing solution
    - Includes a spot to store the provided hex keys (allen wrench) that is out of sight
    - Great price for a gas-spring mount!

CONS: - None so far, my update over time if the springs start to crap out. Only had it a day!

Excellent Mount with just one con
I have a pretty heavy Dell 30" monitor mounted using one of these arms and its working great. The mount point on the desk is sturdy and all the axes movement resistances are adjustable except for the Rotation (clockwise, counterclockwise). I was not able to find and adjustment nut for that, so its really easy to modify the rotation even when you don't want to like when you're trying to reposition the screen. I took the arm apart to see if I could adjust the resistance to that movement, and couldn't find a nut to tighten. Would have been a 5 star review if this was possible. Otherwise great product!

    PROS: Sturdy
    High Quality

CONS: No adjustment for Rotation (clockwise, counterclockwise)

Geeat mount with 1 slight annoyance
This mount is very heavy, solid and works well. The adjustments are easy to get at and it holds an older 24 inch very heavy monitor without drooping. The designers overlooked one adjustment....After the monitor is mounted, there is not adjustment to hold/prevent it from spinning. The weight of my VGA cable on one side of the monitor causes it to spin slightly with no way to stop it. I had to "jury rig" (I'm from Chicago) extra friction into the mount to hold the monitor level.

PROS: Great mount at less than 1/2 the cost of my ergo mount...Built very well and adjustable except.......

CONS: For the monitor rotation issue

Adjustable Gas Spring Desk Monitor Mount 15" - 34"
I received this about a week ago and am very please with the unit. This was my first purchase of an articulated monitor mount and I saw this as a new item on Monoprice. I thought I'd try this mount and free up some desk space. It also looked ideal to have the ability to move the monitor around freely. I've been very pleased with this and all my purchases from Monoprice and ALWAYS recommend Monoprice to my friends and co-workers. I'm glad a friend recommended them to me.

    PROS: - Great price
    - Well made and well thought out.
    - Easy to assemble and install (took about 30 minutes total)
    - Allen wrenches for assembly and adjustments were included!!!

    CONS: Absolutely none.

    Adjustable Gas Spring Desk Mount
Works great. Reviewed the advertised weight capacity and decided to purchase. I have a 43" 4k monitor attached with an vesa adapter plate, which was below the weight capacity of the adjustable arm. I only had make an adjustment on the gas spring (tool included) and on the vertical swivel point. I am very happy with this device. it is working great and does not droop overnight.

PROS: Price and construction. Ease of installation. Included desk mounts and all tools.

    CONS: none

Awesome, works great for a 28 4K display, totally adjustable, holds position exactly where you want it.

    Works as expected
Works well with a cheap ikea desk. Relatively easy installation. Just be careful when you first load in your monitor. The tensioner is set to a relatively low weight so if you're not paying attention, the arm will let lose and your monitor will hit the desk when you first place it on. Make sure you tighten the hex wrench screw for awhile until its adjusted to your monitor weight. So far its working comparably to more expensive options. On my unit, the base rotation joint (the one that lets you swing it left and right) was a bit too tight initially, but loosened up after a few days on its own. Looking forward to trying out the double monitor version, or loading an ultrawide onto this one.

FWIW, I currently have a 24" older dell monitor mounted

PROS: Higher weight capacity than other options
    Relatively inexpensive

CONS: Installation instructions are a bit confusing with branched options (but relatively few steps so not hard to figure out)

    High Quality Monitor Solution
Wanted to get my monitor off of the desk and be able to move it where I need it for meetings and conference calls when seated at my desk. This is a high quality product, set-up was very simple and so far after adjusting the screws, it works perfectly.

PROS: Easy set-up, high quality, heavy duty supports the monitor very well. Able to really get into any position and move it around easily as well so it does the job.

CONS: Removing the wire management trays was a little tricky.

    Outstanding value.
This monitor desk mount was easy to install, and setup very well. I use it for my 4k 43" monitor at work. I have been using it for about 3 months now and it has not deviated from its original position. Very stable.
