1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate - White
Give your in-wall low-voltage cable installation a professional appearance using this 1-Gang Recessed Low Voltage Cable Wall Plate from Monoprice!
This single-gang wall plate features a 1.3" x 1.9" opening in the face for routing a low-voltage cable into a wall. It requires the use of a single-gang, low-voltage mounting bracket (not included).
- Dimensions Diagram (Oct 13, 2009)
- 1x VGA cable with built in 3.5mm audio
- 4x 24 awg HDMI
- 1x Cat 5e network
- 1x 5-RCA Component plus audio
- 1x USB extender
- 1x Toslink digital audio
I also bought the other sizes available here, but ended up not needing them.
This design flaw (as an engineer that's what I'm calling it) is the only reason I wouldn't give this product a 10.
PROS: Easy to install
CONS: No real cons with the plate, but when used with the single gang bracket (PID 7013) the results are less than desirable.
I would recommend not buying the 7013 Low Voltage Mounting Bracket from Monoprice and instead going to your local building supply store and finding a similar bracket with corner mounted screws. The centered screws used by the 7013 bracket obstruct the cables through this wall plate. It's fine if you only have a couple cables, but if you're running five or so, it is troublesome.
You can use this one with 1 gang - wall plate holder (which has 2 locking mechanism which will grip the drywall from inside). This face plate screws over the holder.
PROS: Innovative product
Super cheap price.
If you are going to run HDMI cables in the wall, don't underestimate the length you will need. It's amazing how those 6' cables don't reach as far as you think they will. I just made another order for some 10' cables that were 5 bucks each on sale. They are always the highest quality.
Monoprice is awesome for all this kind of stuff.
PROS: Easy to find almost everything computer and AV related online.
Reasonable shipping rates
CONS: Forgot to order the boxes that go behind these in the wall
