How many of the sensor heads does it include with the Product # 18533 and can you purchase additional heads up to the Max (5)?

BEST ANSWER: I comes with 1 receiver. There are no others for sale on Monoprice. Specs are not included in the documentation. I bought another 30-60 receiver. It didn't work.

Can an additional receiver be purchased?
    A shopper on Dec 30, 2016

Can I plug a cable from the emitter jack directly into my Yamaha (rx-v681 but model shouldn't matter as long as it has ir in) audio receiver using a male-to-male cable (as opposed to using an IR emitter device)?

Can I extend this using a standard 3.5mm extension cable? What would the maximum distance be if so?
    Austin B on Jun 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can certainly extend the cable using a 3.5mm extension cable. Such as our Premium 22AWG 3.5mm extension cables. The thicker 22AWG will assist in sending a strong and reliable signal. Unfortunately we would not have the maximum distance available, though I would recommend using the extension on the IR Emitter output of the IR repeater rather than using it IR Receiver input.

I added links to some of the extender cable lengths below. We do have more lengths available should you click on one of them you will find the other lengths.

    Does this support RC-MM?

description above states "kit comes with two transmitter cables, each with two IR transmitter bulbs". So it sounds like it can control 4 devices? Is this accurate?
    A shopper on Jan 22, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It only comes with (1) dual emitter cable if you need to control (4) devices then you will need a second dual emitter cable.
What voltage and amperage is the power adapter that comes with this? I misplaced the power adapter that came with mine.
    Evan R on Aug 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: 5V 1A 120-240V 50/60 with "M" connector. and I suspect it doesn't draw too much power that you could probably power it over USB with the appropriate cable. and Positive polarity center, and "M" is what RadioShack lettered the tip size of the standard 5mm? that everybody uses.
How should the it receiver be oriented? It does not seem to be able to pick up signals from multiple remotes even though it is a clear line of sight over about 8 feet.

BEST ANSWER: Still hoping to get an answer to this question before I am forced to join the chorus of bad reviews. As it stands, I am better off leaving the equipment cabinet door ajar than hoping that this receiver will actually see the signals from the remotes. Monoprice, anybody reading these?
Hello, is there a manual explaining those LEDs on the Blackbird IR repeater? I don;t see the green LED on my repeater anymore. Thanks
    New User U on Aug 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I believe there is. but one LED is for power which stays on. and the others are 2 IR receiver input activity and light up when there is IR activity on that incoming port.
Will this support Onkyo Stereo receivers? like TX-8020. Thanks!

From what I have read here in Q & A, this kit comes with one 2-bulb transmitter cable, although the ad says "The kit comes with two transmitter cables, each with two IR transmitter bulbs and 6 foot cord." I came looking at the kit to control just one far-away device (a motorized drop-down projection screen), so I also am ordering a 100-ft premium stereo mini-cable. However the concept of multiple transmitters gives the option to also control four DVD recorders. Ideally this 5-unit set-up would take one extra single-bulb cabled-transmitter (for the far-away screen) and one extra 2-bulb cabled-transmitter. My question is a request for a link for purchasing these two extra items, please?

    Works but range is terrible
The unit works well as long as you are within 10ft. of the sensor. However my room is 24x18 and from my couch I have to get up or really stretch for the sensor to respond (w/new batteries). If your area is small go for it if not look for a better option.

good deal with minor issues, and a cheap fix.
we happen to have a closet on the opposite side of the room and a fireplace on the other side which was just begging for all the equipment to go in the closet with the TV mounted over the fireplace. so needless to say IR repeaters were on my mind. then we got DirecTV and the wireless RF remote mode is horrible, it has a ton of delay but works through walls! And is nondirectional! ( and in that mode it also has the side benefit of being able to change the channels even when it's buried underneath stuff on the couch, say your bottom in the middle of a show you're watching! ) Yeah every day I cursed the thing saying I need an IR repeater. so the next order to monoprice I decided to order 2x as we decided to do a remote TV with the receiver in the basement as well.
they were really good however there seems to be a defect in the plastic over the IR receiver that blocks IR signals, it was easy enough to pop the plastic apart and then twist tie the receiver somewhere on the TV bracket(s) it does occasionally pick up random IR light signals and you can tell that by the LED blinking on the unit. however it works really well this way and at some point I will take the plastic pieces in cut out a square in tape over some red film and put them back together and I suspect that this will probably fix the issues.

we have a Visio TV which seems to have some trouble with the angles and distance of any remotes, so I made another IR transmitter with a short cable and taped it to the TV. so this repeater repeats the signal back to the closet and to the TV and it has solved that issue as well. I currently have the edge of the main unit wedged behind the mantel of the fireplace so it sticks up and I can see the lights blink whenever i use the remote which is handy to tell if the batteries are dead in the remote. if the light doesn't blink the remote is either not reaching the repeater or the batteries are dead, if the light blinks but nothing responds the batteries are weak and the remote is sending a signal of garbled data and the device doesn't know what it was meant to do with that data.

    Blackbird dual band ir repeater
Excellent value. Worked great with my Sony STR-DA7100 ES. I was able to connect directly into my receiver using 3.5 mm audio cable.

    BLACKBIRD DUAL BAND IR REPEATER
My experience with this IR repeater was that you get what you pay for. This inexpensive unit has low sensirivity for distance. It works
best when around 10-15' from remote control. Longer distances require a better built unit.

    Doesn't work
I cannot seem to get the item to function with my Arris Box from the cable company. Indicator lights come on but no reaction from the box I am trying to control.

    Only Controls Two Devices
This item is essentially useless for the overwhelming majority of the work that I do as I generally need to control more than two devices. I would rate the unit higher if it came with (2) transmitter cables to control four devices.
