    5.5X4 Inches Graphic Drawing Tablet

Graphic tablets aren't just for artists anymore!

A graphic tablet can be used as a substitute for a mouse, replacing a less natural movement with the more natural movement of the pen on the paper, thereby reducing the chance of Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI), like carpal tunnel syndrome. Of course, it also makes any drawing type of activity, including embedded signatures, simpler and easier to accomplish. Graphic tablets are also great for kids, allowing them to unleash their natural creativity into a form that is easy to email to grandparents and other relations.

This high-quality tablet from Monoprice is priced just right, so everyone can enjoy the benefits of a graphic tablet. Easy to install and use, once you try one you'll wonder how you ever got along without one!

Although this tablet is fully compatible with Mac® OS X® and is recognized by OS X software programs, the bonus software included with the tablet is incompatible with both Mac OS X and Windows® 7.

Please note that this device will work with Windows 7 but there is the possibility that the "Hot Cells" may not function correctly on some systems. We are currently working on a solution to this issue

    Watch out for the battery.
Works great except for the leaky battery that destroyed the pen.

PROS: I got the previous version of this tablet and it works great.

CONS: The battery that came with the pen leaked which made it inoperable, I tried to clean it but no luck. I had to buy a new pen for $10 from monoprice. I suggest you don't use the cheap AAA battery that comes with it. Put a name brand in.

    As good as Wacom

PROS: Does everything and works just as good as my old Wacom

nothing to compare to but works great
I have windows 7 and followed the quick start instructions. Worked perfectly the first time. I haven't used a tablet before but this one works great. Integrated with Photoshop perfectly. The "hotkey" areas are a nice bonus.

PROS: Easy to install. Photoshop recognized immediately. Inexpensive

    CONS: None as of yet

    Works great on Ubuntu Linux
I asked tech support which chipset was in this device and couldn't get a definitive answer. Having received it, I found it is identified as 5543:0004 UC-Logic Technology Corp. Genius MousePen 5x4 Tablet which (after installing the driver and calibration) works beautifully on Ubuntu. GIMP registers pressure properly. Instructions on setting up this tablet under Ubuntu (and probably other Linux distros) can be found here: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/TabletSetupWizardpen

PROS: Insanely cheap I got this on sale for under $20 and it works beautifully!

CONS: Was not free, had to wait for shipping

    Decent tablet for the price
Overall for the price it's a decent drawing tablet.

PROS: Love the size, it doesn't take up a lot of desk space. Very clean/neat design. Pretty easy to setup. Works very well with Paint. Great drawing tablet for the price!

CONS: The Annotate software doesn't work with MS Word 2007 as promised. Couldn't get Pen Commander to work at all :-( Pen is WAY too sensative and there are no settings to ajust sensativity.

    Pretty good product
Worked well out of box, installation was a breeze, pressure sensitivity is good. Solid product all around. Thinking of getting a bigger one in the near future.

PROS: Price, build quality, works in Photoshop, Word etc.

CONS: Some of the included software doesn't work with Windows 7 (not a deal breaker at all)

I myself have no prior experience with drawing tablets, but for a nice entry level drawing tablet it does the job. Its very responsive, lightweight, and worked with my preferred drawing software (Paint tool sai) near flawlessly. My only gripes are the booklet included shows an entirely different tablet with and on/off switch and buttons which this tablets does not have and im unsure about are using gestures with this tablet. Their is a disc included with software for using the gestures but I cant get them to work. in conclusion its a solid tool for digital illustration.

PROS: - Worked right out of the box

    - Lightweight

    - cheap

CONS: - "gestures" seem not to work

    Good Product
Excellent product for the price. Similar products are nearly twice the cost.

PROS: The price of the tablet gives value for money.

CONS: It would be nice to have a on-off switch.

    Mac compatible!
The description for this tablet doesn't mention it, but the box does list Mac OS X 10.4.11 through 10.6 as compatible. The included disc includes Mac drivers last updated in April 2010. Similar drivers on geniusnet.com had the same modified date. Once installed, the tablet works well in Photoshop CS3 with one minor bug: If you go back to the mouse after using the tablet, mouse clicks for drawing only work randomly. I'm thinking this could be a Photoshop bug since the menus and pallets always work fine. Or I'm missing a setting somewhere. Re-launching PS without the tablet attached is a quick solution (or just do all drawing with the tablet). I do plan to finally upgrade Photoshop, but I don't see this bug listed anywhere. On the down side, the pen is awkward to use. I have no problem with the weight or the battery inside, it's more about the low location of the buttons. I'm always pressing them accidentally. The setup app works well. I just wish that the folder icons down the right side of the tablet could actually be assigned to open folders. As it is, all edge "hot cells" can be assigned to run an app, hit a keystroke, or launch a URL (web or email). A little AppleScript may solve this. Lastly, the drawing area is 5.5 x 4 inches, which turns out to be very sufficient, but the overall tablet is a large 9 x 9 inches of mostly-hollow poly. This probably does make it more comfortable when drawing out to the edges, but sheesh, I have to figure out where to keep this thing when not in use. Now, as my first tablet, I need to acclimate myself. I don't see using this instead of a mouse. For the crazy low price, though, heck yeah I'm glad to have it around for certain things. Somewhere..

    PROS: Mac OS X compatible
Works well in Photoshop and other apps

    CONS: Pen is awkward
Overal dimensions are 2x drawing area
Folder icons cannot be assigned to open folders
