    Works perfectly
Prior to buying this, I bought a similar device off Amazon with the goal of simplifying my home theater set up by having everything running through HDMI to my receiver, and a single HDMI cable from my receiver to my TV. Unfortunately, the one I tried previously had a significant degradation of both audio and video quality to the point it was unacceptable. I returned it and found this one on Monoprice and decided to try it. Both the audio and video are just as good as they were running through the component cables.

Don't buy this device if you are expecting it to improve signal quality, because it won't. But if you are hoping to simplify your set up and get rid of your component cables, this is a perfect device for you.

    PROS: Works exactly as described

    CONS: None

Works great, includes both 1080p video AND AUDIO
First off, there is a button on the side of this to switch between 720 and 1080. No paper clip needed to push a recessed button to flip modes.

I plugged this into the back of my WII, and connected the HDMI cable to my TV. Fired it all up, pressed the button to flip to 1080p, and both audio and video were handled well. The image was stretched since my old TV wasn't widescreen, so I went into the Wii options and set the display to widescreen, and everything was done. I don't think this could be any easier to set up, and the image is nicely upscaled.

This differs from some other converters in that the others often do not include audio or do so through an 1/8" mini jack. This puts it into the HDMI cable, where it should be. I didn't notice any lag times between the video and audio, so that worked well.

It's a little on the expensive side, but well worth it to me in that I didn't have to deal with any cables other than the HDMI to get audio working.

    PROS: * Extremely easy setup
    * Compact design
    * Includes audio signal in HDMI output

CONS: * A little big, but not bad

Works as advertised. Probably a little more than I would have liked to pay, but since I'm putting everything through a 5x1 HDMI switch to one TV, it's what I needed.

This is perfect. Just remember the Wii outputs at 480p and just because you convert that component/composite cable to HDMI you still will only have a 480p output. Not a 720/1080p. It does not upscale it. But it does let you use HDMI which is perfect if you are limited on inputs or just want everything as HDMI.

PROS: Simple, no setup. Lets you go from Composite/Component down to just an HDMI and Audio.

    CONS: None

Does the job, what more can you ask?
I needed an adapter to allow my Wii to connect via HDMI. Monoprice had this item. I got it and it worked great right out of the box. No configuration, no fuss, no muss.

PROS: It works. What more need be said?

CONS: $30 is a lot for an adapter.

I have a HDMI switch box so that all of my components can be neatly tucked away in a cabinet while my TV is mounted on the wall above a fireplace. I've also purchased a wireless WiiMote sensor bar from Monoprice. Both the HDMI adapter and the wireless sensor bar helped me get the installation I want.

PROS: This adapter does the job.

CONS: This costs a bit too much.

A lot of people with newer receivers that are HDMI only run into the problem of how to hook up their Wii, which of couse has no HDMI output- this device solves that problem nicely. The only problem is you're making a tradeoff- you will get vastly improved sound and simplified receiver setup, but you will lose a little video quality if you're used to plugging your Wii directly into your TV via component cables- the picture is very slightly blurrier/less detailed/less colorful in my opinion. But it's a very slight difference and I think the tradeoff is worth it, just be aware.

    PROS: works

greatly simplifies setup if using a receiver

CONS: video quality is less than using component cables directly into tv- picture is slightly blurrier, less detailed

can't tell any difference when using the switch that changes 720p/1080p

    a little expensive

    worked good.....for 3 months
I bought this to consolidate my wires using an cdmi switch, it worked great in the time i had it, but after 2-3 months it just stopped working. the power light illuminates but nothing is transmitted through the wii hdmi adapter to the tv.

PROS: can hook into hdmi switch to consolidate wires

CONS: stopped working after using for 3 months

    Response from Monoprice

Truly sorry to hear PID 9997 is no longer functioning for you. Does anything change when switching out the HDMI cable in use or testing on another HDMI port? We do offer a one year warranty on this item. Should the issue remain, I can assist you in setting up an RMA for a replacement if within the warranty. All I would need is your order number. Please let me know how you would like to proceed.
