The unit was well-packed and arrived in excellent condition. Floating mounts made installing easy--I had this screen installed in under an hour. Neutral black case looked fine. As others have noted, this screen has STRONG out-gassing smell. I am not especially sensitive to odors, but I installed this in a smaller (12 x 22) home theatre room, and it was absolutely TOXIC when I first opened the screen. I put fans and open windows on it 24/7 for a week, and it seems to be mostly gone now--although when the screen has been closed for a few days, and then is opened, I can still detect a trace of the odor. I will continue to monitor this. Adjusting the lower stop limit on the screen is fairly easy--a long yellow hex tool is included, and you simply have to look up inside the enclosure at the left end of the screen, and you will see the yellow plastic adjustment dial. It takes a little fiddling--raising/lowering the screen and adjusting the dial, but not difficult if you work methodically. The remote works fine, especially if you use the included remote IR 'eye' which seems to have a wider coverage than the built-in one. The motor is a bit more noisy than ideal. Sometimes it seems quieter raising than lowering. It would be great if there was some way to make this quieter--some way to lube, perhaps? I would not have paid $500 for this screen. It fit perfectly in my space, otherwise I would have returned it immediately. If the odor remains low or disappears, I would say I am just barely satisfied at $269. (I thought I briefly saw this priced at $249 on here.) I had considered contacting Monoprice to complain. Generally I have been extremely pleased with the items I buy from Monoprice--excellent pricing and outstanding quality. This item was an unpleasant surprise.
I apologize for the inconvenience you have had with the motorized screen, can you provide us with more information so we can better assist you to email@example.com. Thank you.

Don't waste your money on name brand screens. This is the one you want!
Save yourself a few hundred dollars and buy this screen instead of other name brand ones! Order was delivered within a week (item ships ups freight so you may have to contact monoprice support in order to get the tracking number).
Pros: Price. Item is as described. Screen was very easy to install and looks great.
Cons: I've read a few reviews that talks about the smell of this screen being bad. It smells like a cheap inner-tube or little kids arm floaty. Not a bad smell, but a smell. Lasted for maybe two days. Not enough to not invite friends over for a movie night as soon as you install it :) also, the motor is a little loud. Not a big deal to me because I saved hundresds of dollars by ordering this instead of an elite screen, da-lite, etc.
I ordered this in March of 2013 during a massive renovation of my 1963 home. It sat for several months before I was able to get it hung and installed. Since then, it's been flawless.
I did find it difficult to locate the up/down screws, but finally found it.
Also I thought I ordered the RF version, but instead got the IR one. Doesn't work as well in my application, but that's my fault.
Beware: if you loose the remote (as I did), Monoprice does not keep them in stock as their own line item. These IR remotes are also not supported by ANY universal remote I could find, and Monoprice Customer Service was completely unresponsive when I emailed them asking for the information required to incorporate this product into a service such as Logitech has.
PROS: Works as advertised, nice image
CONS: hard to find the up / down adjustments
the auto detect cable is 2.5mm, NOT 3.5mm! all of my av equipment has the 3.5mm receptacle
the port on the side is not RJ45, but maybe RJ11. I was hoping for something more user friendly like an html application that could be accessed by other programs
It's a great screen and a good price. The monoprice staff and instructions manual will purposefully tell you that adjusting the lower limit on the screen drop should only be attempted by a professional, but there is a tool included in the box which makes this adjustment very easy to do.
PROS: Design of the mounting bracket makes mounting the screen a breeze. The screen body has a good look and feel to it. Matte white fabric makes images brighter. Packaging was excellent.
Happy Food, House of Joy, and Monoprice are two restaurants and a distributor that I like to frequent. Any non-asian laughs at the effort of cleverness in naming these businesses, however, these places always offer excellent value despite their preconceived cheapness. A real name like Chung-Ho or Mitsubishi will always be better received if it's going to be displayed. I'm always proud to show off my Chinese fireworks during the 4th of July because there's no pretentiousness. This reviewer is just upset because my secret for many years is finally becoming mainstream. Monoprice deserves it!
PROS: Nice looking sturdy aluminum case with clever adjustable mounting points that fit into an extruded channel the entire length. This enables you to mount the screen in the exact center of a wall no matter where the studs are. Not even the high end screen makers could figure this out.
CONS: Motor is a little noisy, but wasn't an issue in the night club where I installed this. Screen material is fairly cheesy but well within price point and the audience won't notice. Although subdued, the Monoprice logo is prominently displayed on more and more of their products, which takes away from some of the magic. Unfortunately, until the Chinese start producing something that they actually invented (besides gunpowder), instead of making knock-offs of everything, the logo is associated with cheapness.
