Would these be suitable for outdoor use? They would be mounted to the house and would have "some" protection from the elements.
    Benjamin G on Jun 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think the plastic parts would be, likely need to better understand the type of screws and bolts in them to see if they are stainless steel. The connections though are a pressure fit with a tightening screw. The screw doesn't go into a groove though so I would have concern about heat or elements affecting this to make those connections come loose over time.

Excellent price and quality - on one small issue
I was amazed at the quality of these mounts for the price. The stalk is solid with several places to adjust, including the removable extension. The set screws made it easy to adjust and held well when tightened (my speakers were about 2.5 pounds. I really liked the fact that options for just about every combination of speaker and wall/ceilling were provided. These were one of very few mounts I could find that would accommodate the keyhole mount on the speaker. Once I got it installed it looked great!

Only one "fly in the ointment" - as I mentioned I have keyhole mount speakers. The bolt with a plastic spacer was great. The issue is with the keyhole nut. The instructions say to install it with the knurled (rough) edge toward the post. However the back of the nut was "stepped" but not knurled (rough) - as a result, the nut slipped on the smooth plastic on the back of the speaker keyhole, I tried pulling on the post to help tighten but it still slipped and then popped out. Very frustrating and added about 1.5 hours to the installation of four speakers. I finally got some lock washers and with alot of pulling got the somewhat tight. This could easily be addressed with a nut that truly was "knurled (rough)".

I noticed in reading your reviews that product issues are often forwarded to your design team to address. If you should decide to correct this I sure would like a set (6) of the proper keyhole nuts to provide me with a perfect installation.

    PROS: - Well made

    - Excellent pricing

    - Flexible mounting options

    - Attractive product

    - Quick delivery

CONS: - only one small one - but significant for me - with keyhole mount (see review for details)

Does not hold up over time. Dangerous!
Unfortunately there are no pros that can overcome the danger these pose. The mounts are basically three parts. There is a piece you mount to the speaker, a piece you mount to the wall, and then a hinged piece that goes in between. The problem is that the hinge piece only has plastic nubs to mount to. The set screw that is supposed to secure these simply presses against the plastic nub. This is not secure. Over time with humidity and any movement of the speaker or vibration they will simply fall off of the wall.

In order to solve this issue at a place I was replacing speaker cable in-wall I simply drilled a hole half way through the side of the nubs in order for the set screw you actually go into something and bite a bit. I do not think this is a proper solution or expectation that most people would have when buying these though. Also the set "screw" isn't really long enough for this use so you have to be careful not to drill too deep of a hole, but deep enough for it to hold.

The hinge piece strips out incredibly easily.

Overall, this is very much a danger as the speakers can fall off at any moment especially in areas of humidity or where vibration may be an issue... don't forget they are speakers so vibration is actually inherent!
Upgrade to the metal brackets and trust that you have a secure mount.

    PROS: Relatively low profile
Easy to install though can be tedious without proper tools (bit extensions, torx heads)
    Universal mount

CONS: Dangerous hazard of falling apart
    Screws strip threads too easily
    Slightly cheap feeling
Hinge does not hold even after tightening it

overall a great buy. im just complaining a little. you cant find better quality or price. frys has same thing for 50. thats just ripping people off. i bought a set and compared. mono price stuff was actually better. i told frys mono price has them for under 4$ and the manager got pissed. said they cant even buy them for that price. lol 50$? i told him to keep his mounts.

PROS: works good! holds up my 8 lbs perfectly.

CONS: wish it came with more extensions or sold separately. need 4 extensions and that means i got to buy 2 sets to get extensions.

    Flexible, cheap, sturdy!
These speaker mounts are fantastic. They cost next to nothing, include all hardware (even screws for the wall and plastic anchors!).

The mounts come apart, so there is an elbow piece, an extension piece, two 2-screw "flange" pieces, and two single screw mount pieces for certain types of speakers. The combinations are endless since everything is totally modular. You can put them together without the extension, or with, and the result is perfectly positioned speakers.

How does Monoprice stay in business practically giving these away for free?

They are fantastic. You wont be disappointed.

    PROS: Four dollars!

    Many angles and combinations possible.

    CONS: None!

Overall its a good product for most bose cubes (which is usually what i use these wall mount brackets for.) AV Services NJ

PROS: great price! forget the bose brackets @ $20 or $30 per pair

CONS: works fine with the double cube speakers. Had a little trouble with the "small" single cube speakers- alittle modification on the bracket was necessary.

    Does the job
Small, relatively indiscreet mounts for small speakers, at this price for a pair, it's hard to go wrong. I bought 2 sets and mounted my surround and rear speakers up on the ceiling and they work like a charm. All screwed into the back of my Polk speakers and are holding them without trouble. The color is a bit off-white, perhaps eggshell color or a cream, which is why I gave 9 instead of 10 on the rating. Still though, I would recommend these to anyone looking to mount small speakers on their wall or ceiling.

    More than decent
Overall a more than decent speaker bracket for the price. Well worth it. For the price you can't go wrong. Yes, it does feel a little flimsy due to its plastic construction and it does seem a little borderline to support a 10lb speaker but it does work surprisingly well. I wish the different sections were held together a bit better though... I can't help but feel the speaker's going to rip one of the sections out at some point and fall onto the ground, but this hasn't happened yet. It looks worse than it actually is.

    PROS: - Inexpensive
    - Easy to install
    - Flexible
    - Pivots

CONS: - Bends a lot with speakers close to 10lbs
    - Made of plastic versus sturdy metal

Review update for Energy Micro RCs
Update on my previous review. Buy a 1/4" X 1 1/2" replacement screws. Remove the black screw holding the keyhole inplace. Incert the 1/4" X 1 1/2" replacement screw. Tighten securly. Discard the mounts speaker connector. Place the mounts elbow joint over the screw and tighten the allen screw. Problem resolved. Now these inexpensive mounts work with Energy Micro RC 5.1 speakers.

PROS: Cheap, universal with some modding.

    CONS: Modding required.

    Works great!
Great mounts for the money, will hold 10lbs easily with proper use of drywall anchors.

PROS: Multiple methods for attaching speakers, easy mounting.

CONS: Attaching keyhole mount can be tricky and frustrating.

My satellites are 9lb and these do no even come close to holding them in place.

    PROS: Adjustability and installation option

CONS: The 10lb rating is overly exaggerated.
