The description indicates that this mount swivels both horizontally and vertically, but the pieces and and the instructions don't appear (at least to me) to allow it swivel vertically (e.g. up and down). Can someone confirm that it can be tilted up and down as needed?
I regret having to write this review, as I have been very pleased with multiple past purchases from Monoprice and recommended Monoprice frequently to friends and colleagues.
After I located this product for my sister, she purchased two of them and I finally got to install them this week.
On one bracket set, the supplied plastic wall anchors did not separate properly as the screw was driven into it in the wall. The symptom of this was that the screws wouldn't tighten and met a springy resistance. Solved this by removing the anchors from the wall and cutting notches in the tip of each of them.
Bigger issue was that on both of the brackets, the bolt supplied to attach the bracket to back of the Sonos Play 1 would not screw properly into the speaker. Problem seemed to be incorrect thread specification. I got the correct bolt size and thread specification from the Sonos web site, went to a big box hardware store, verified that the bolt supplied with the bracket was, in fact, incorrect thread, bought correct specification bolt, and was able to complete the install. Unfortunately, the replacement bolt doesn't look quite as nice as the supplied bolt, but, I didn't have correct size Allen wrench to install it, either. (Would have been nice had the bracket included correct bold and an Allen wrench for install.
I hope Monoprice is able to get this flaw straightened out with their vendor.
PROS: (1) Does the job to mount Sonos Play 1 speakers to wall - once have right bolts
CONS: (1) Bolt to attach bracket to back of speaker was wrong thread - had to buy correct bolts at hardware store
(2) Supplied plastic wall anchors failed to open properly when screws fully screwed in.
The screw provided does not fit into the Sonos speaker. I’ve seen that some people have got the right screw from Home Depot, I haven’t been bothered to do that yet. These mounts are still sitting in the box they came in.
Hello all, the Play 1 mounts I purchased are fine, they do the job. The mounting screws for the wall are absolute crap and stripped while trying to mount the speakers. I even drilled pilot holes and ended up having to use my own screws. Minor inconvenience but needs to be addressed by the manufacturer.
Other reviews had me worried about the bolt not fitting properly. I purchased 2 of these, and they are perfect. Hiding the necessary AC cable is up to you, but the brackets are strong and work as described. I recommend them and would buy them again if I needed more.
