PROS: Small, Easy to pair, Pair up to 8 devices. Absolute best Bluetooth audio transmission due to aptX technology.
CONS: Probably about $20 more than it should be.
In my set up, I can't get 33 feet away from it with a clear line of sight to actually test at that distance. I can get 25 feet away from it, and it works fine at that distance. If there are obstructions between transmitter and receiver (Walls, Countertops, etc...), the signal can degrade quickly, but that's to be expected with Bluetooth RF.
Overall, I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it to anyone.
PROS: Small size
Multiple output options
Easy set up
CONS: Nominal distance between iPhone and this device seems to vary.
I have paired this thing using Bluetooth with 3 of my Android devices - they are Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10-inch and also with my HTC Sensation 4G smartphone. All 3 devices can pair perfectly and can stream music to this receiver without any problems. Although only one device can stream music to the receiver at a time. The Samsung Galaxy S3 sounds the best because it has an equalizer that you can tinker with.
The sound quality is just as good as connecting the speakers directly to my smartphone. I did a sound test, whether my speakers were connected to receiver via Bluetooth or through a direct connection, I can't even hear the difference....which is simply awesome.
Like one reviewer said....pair this thing up with your smartphone and it's like having a jukebox at your fingertips.
PROS: - works great with all 3 of my Android devices
- has both optical and 1/8" audio outputs
- compact design
- sound quality is just as good as a direct connection
- makes an awesome Bluetooth speaker system when hooked up to Monoprice speakers PID 605500
CONS: NO auto pairing. For example, if you pair this thing with your smartphone and then take your smartphone outside, and then come back in an hour or so, this thing will not auto pair with your smartphone after you come back.
You have to manually pair it up again. It's a bit of a downer but I can still live with it.
PROS: -amazing sound quality, especially if your broadcasting device supports the APT-X codec for bluetooth.
-digital out allows the use of a separate DAC, for even better sound quality.
-clean, simple design
CONS: -when the unit is receiving, but there is no sound, it goes to sleep. when it auto-wakes at the start of a sound source, it can make an unpleasant crackling noise as it comes to life.
PROS: 1 is working great at my home. Great sound quality, Good range, about 30-35ft, and easy BluTooth connection. I have a very large living dinning area. I have it on top of my system cabinet.
CONS: 2 was installed at relatives home. Range was poor, but improved some after moving it up & out from the low shelf . I plan to get a longer connector to move it even higher and away from systems to see if I can improve the range. It was no comparison to my 1 range .
PROS: -Simple to use
-Puts audio out of optical and 1/8" simultaneously (with the audio perfectly in sync too), which is great for receivers with two zones that don't share digital inputs well, or if you have two separate amps
-I've use this with an Evo 4g LTE and the audio quality with the aptX algorithm is phenomenal for Bluetooth audio.
-Nice and small
-If you have non-techie family with NFC enabled phones this is the perfect device for you
CONS: These really aren't cons, just more of a wish list
-Wish it used micro-usb for power, would make a great car accessory for those with automobiles with an aux jack.
-Range is okay but not great (I think it's more of a result of the Bluetooth standard), i'd say 20' with line of site, 10-15' with typical home obstructions.
-I think it's priced fair, but lower is always better...
I use this for audio only in my workshop, connected to my iPhone. iPhone sits 20 to 25 ft from unit. I have never had any dropouts or hesitations. Unit has worked flawlessly for almost a month now. The only drawback ( which is very minor) is that if you power the unit off, it does not automatically recognize your device next time you power it back up. You have to manually connect to Bluetooth receiver through Bluetooth settings on your device. But this really isn't an issue, and I am extremely satisfied with this unit in general.
PROS: No dropouts with iPhone. Decent audio quality Easy to install and set up
CONS: Have to manually reconnect after powering down- does not automatically recognize your device.
PROS: Great bang for your buck, simple to set up
This fits my need to play streaming music. It is the best value for quality I could find. I would suggest that a future version should allow a LED dimmer, remote part in and auto connect. Maybe a coax option will improve sound
PROS: + nfc makes for easy connection
+ apt-x is better quality and on par for streaming audio
+ optical spdif out for using an external dac
+ small and attractive
CONS: + bluetooth doesn't pair automatically to devices it recognises when it is powered on (I downloaded an android app to do this for me)
+ I notice a level of softness in the output (some of the punch and clarity is removed)
+ light is very bright and flashes
+ connection is sometimes flakey without walls from 5 metres away
This receiver is straightforward and does its job well. I haven't had any issues, and it sounds great. Do yourself a favor and get this for your living room. You'll be glad you did.
PROS: * Easy pairing with NFC for Jellybean (and straightforward bluetooth pairing otherwise)
* APT-X audio sounds great considering this is the only way audiophiles should listen to Bluetooth audio
* Simplicity: plug it in, power it up, pair it, listen.
CONS: Hardly a con, but this device is very light the cables connected to it are heavier than the device itself, so it can be difficult to get it to sit nicely on your entertainment center.
