Usually Monoprice's product are just as good or even better as other products on the market, but way less expensive. Sadly, this wasn't the case with this product. Once, I received the product it was even smaller than I expected and even lighter which is a pro. Once I took it out of the packaging and turned it on, the product paired with the closest device easily, but the sound of the voice in the device seemed a bit muffled. Once I started playing music on the device the quality was good and surprisingly loud. But about a minute in the sound would either switch back and forth between good quality to bad quality or the music would cut in and out. I tried two different devices, sometimes I would seem to get a bit of static, even right in front of the device. Phone calls seem to be a bit shakey on the device as well, but isn't as bad with static, just a bit muffled. Making calls is pretty easy with the device, as long as you speak close and clearly.
Another good thing about the device is that it seems to support different ranges. I seemed to have received the same quality no matter how far or close you are to the speaker. It's just seems for me, I couldn't get consistent good quality from it either way.
My advice is too buy one of the other cheap monoprice bluetooth boomboxes they are offering which have been received well (and around the same price) , or wait it out until this product has received has some more feedback and all the bugs are sorted out.
CONS: Bluetooth Cuts In and Out
Sound Quality Fluctuates
Some Static when playing music
I have bought this before in the past and they have and still work great but i purchased one around Christmas of 2015 and it stopped working after about 1 month of use. The on /off switch stopped clicking into place. the volume buttons also stopped working as well they are stuck in the down position. Now it plays nothing its just a red paper weight.
PROS: NFC, Two speakers, Stereo
CONS: Loud sound but lack of base, no forward or rever buttons to skip songs
It has ample volume for talk radio to be heard over a running shower. The sound quality is excellent for my purposes. I can't really speak to whether it would blow you away with every note of Bohemian Rhapsody or another bit of music, but it's more than adequate for casual listening.
Volume can be controlled on the phone or on the speaker.
I've been surprised at the battery life. Listened for hours on end, never died on me before I charged it back up.
- Crystal clear as a speakerphone, according to my wife, who was on the receiving end of the conversation.
- Adequate volume for use in the car as an internet radio speaker, for those without bluetooth functionality on the car stereo.
PROS: Compact size and light weight.
Ample sound output.
Long battery life.
Built-in microphone turns it into an adequate speakerphone when my paired cell phone rings.
The speaker talks to you when you turn it on, and when it pairs / unpairs, so you know what's going on.
CONS: Does not fly.
Failed to make me smarter or more breathtakingly handsome than I already am.
Now I'm just waiting for a "Big Brick". Seriously guys, you might as well put me down for a pre-order now.
On/Off switch, microUSB
NO HUMMING NOISE!! :)
CONS: None. Seriously.
PROS: Quality for the price
PROS: Easy Bluetooth sync. Well made. Good battery. Nice sound.
PROS: Small, very portable, NFC makes pairing very easy
CONS: + and - buttons change song, not volume. Battery life sucks (charged for 18 hours, lasted 3 hours playing music). Random high-pitched squeals when charging
However, given the low price of the Monoprice speaker, I can overlook any short comings. The light weight and rugged design make this speaker easy to take to the beach or to the back yard hammock.
I have yet to use this speaker as a speaker phone. I don't use that feature very frequently. Another reviewer might have better thoughts on that.
I've only had the speaker for a couple of days, so I can't comment on battery life. But, given that it uses Bluetooth V4.0, I expect the battery to last a decent amount of time.
My iPhone 4Sand iPad 2 are not NFC compatible, so I can't comment on that feature either.
Overall, I'm very happy with this speaker.
PROS: Good volume, sufficient enough for a mid size room.
Not much distortion at loud volume.
Nice design, non slip feet.
Not too heavy.
Pairs easily via Bluetooth V4.0, especially after the initial connection has been made.
CONS: Limited fidelity range. Bass is lacking.
At loud volume, the quality of sound is tinny and can get tiresome to listen to.
PROS: Sturdy feel. Great sound. Aux in. Very loud.
CONS: Lacks bass. Basically it has no low range. The bass is pretty much all from the mids.
