    What's the country of manufacture?
    A shopper on Apr 13, 2018
BEST ANSWER: China but at 75% at 75% savings why would you pay more elsewhere? I’ve been using monoprice cables and cords for over 10 years and I have no complaints and I purchased over $1000 worth of product.
Condenser mic? Where does it's power come from?
    Daniel A on Dec 26, 2016
BEST ANSWER: As most mics do this draws power from the TRS connector (or audio jack) the on/off is more of an analog way to turn off/on the mic, since many people have concerns over an open mic connected to a computer/ other device.

Works surprisingly well, until it didn't.
Given its price, the microphone exceeds expectations. Obviously this is not a professional-level device, but it is very good value for its cost. I experienced no difficulties with installation or use (Windows 7 64-bit) and it has worked smoothly with gaming, Skype, and vocal recording. Sound is clear, and it doesn't pick up much background noise at all.

I have owned it for around 3 months, as of writing.

Update: 9 months into use, the microphone suddenly developed a fairly loud background buzz, rendering it unusable. The microphone saw light use, typically only a few hours a week, and resided on my desk. It's a $5 microphone, take that as you will, but my other Monoprice purchases have shown better longevity, so I am still a bit disappointed.

    seems amazing
I always ask people how I sound and what my levels are like. This mic gives me zero complaints. Plop it on your desk, jam the plug into your sound card and away you go...

    PROS: so affordable, its INSANE.
    looks decent
cord is sleeved in cotton which is always nice.

    Awesome cheap mic
This does the job. I use it while playing games and the guys I play with say the sound quality is good. I like the on/off switch. I can't ask for anything else.

Bought 25 and all work. Pretty good clarity, even with relatively high volumes. Nice fabric-coated wires to reduce pinches and kinks.

    Great mic!
Mic works well! I was half expecting a cheap feeling mic but this mic has a sturdy weighted base and feels well built. The cord is a woven type fabric cord not a rubber coated one. Not experienced with those cords but I hope it doesn't short out faster from normal wear and tear.

    PROS: -Cheap price
    -Quality sound

    CONS: -None so far

    It works
I was looking for a MIC to use while gaming without using my headset. This MIC now sits in front of my keyboard and does its job. I have no idea what the sound quality is since in game sound is rarely great quality in the first place.

    PROS: - It works
    - Long cord
    - Mute switch

    CONS: - None?

    Works Great
Works very well with my desktop computer. My daughter in South Korea says it sounds a lot better that the previous mike I was using to contact her via Skype.

Great microphone at an unbelievable low price.
The on/off switch is very convenient.

    PROS: Works beautifully, nice design.

This is a unique mic in that first it is black, second the boom fold down flat when you're not using it, and it has an off switch so you can be sure you're computer isn't listening to you. The cable is also very, very long (which is good if your computer tower is far away), but it also seems to have lots of kinks in it that I can't get out.

My only other comment is that like any mic under $100, it is omnidirectional so will pick up every noise. For $5 you can't go wrong though!

PROS: Boom folds down when not in use, off button, long, long cord

    CONS: Omnidirectional

    Has convenient on-off switch
Works pretty well with Dragon Speech Recognition software. Even with office background noise the microphone isolates my voice pretty well. Convenient on-off switch is on the front of the microphone stand. I don't have to click the icon on the screen to turn on-off the recognition software.
