Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 1.75mm, .5kg/Spool Bronze
Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!
PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.
This 0.5 kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.05mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 180 ~ 210°C (356 ~ 410°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.
The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.
Questions and Answers
Hopefully others who may have run other PLA plastics can make comparisons, but as far as my experience with the Monoprice filament goes, it has exceeded my hopes. The finish on the completed parts is great,
PROS: Ease of use, finish and color are exceptional.
CONS: Seems Pricey, but I wanted good filament, spent it, and its been great,
Definitely don't use a temp around 220C. At that temp, the plastic just runs out of the 0.4 nozzle and retraction is useless as there's threads wherever the head moves without extrusion. The end result also adhered to the bed a little too well and had weak inter-layer bonding.
The color was much nicer than standard gold-colored filament, though, and I'm hoping to make it work better at a lower temp. I will try to update this review when I see success.
