Premium 3D Printer Filament PLA 1.75MM 1kg/spool, Black
Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm PLA 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!
PLA is a good choice for a printing material if you are looking for high accuracy and high resolution. It extrudes at lower temperatures, does not require a heated base, and has a very low shrinkage rate (0.3%). PLA is harder than ABS, but is therefore also a bit more brittle. Additionally, PLA is a plant-based plastic, which means that it is biodegradable and gives off a slightly sweet odor, like roasting corn.
This 1 kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.03mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 210° C (410°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.
The negatives of using PLA is that it is vulnerable to degradation from moisture, sunlight, and heat. Additionally, it is more prone to overheating during processing, which can cause dripping and drooping if it gets too hot.

Questions and Answers
PROS: good filament, colors look great, no clogging.
CONS: spool doesn't fit the monoprice maker select spool holder. no usage information on package
PROS: Half the price of MakerBot 1.75mm PLA Filament, good boxed packaging, sturdy fully enclosed spool, same results in final printed object as name-brand filament.
CONS: Filament unsprings from the reel easily if you don't keep a grip on the free end, feels thin and flimsy, filament is wavy and looks like it was rolled onto the reel by an epileptic (no offense to anyone with that horrible condition). Matt black texture, not shiney smooth. Not really a con if the printed product is shiny. Could be a pro if comes out matt and that's what you want.

At a few dollars a roll cheaper than what I was told was the best, most consistent filament, I can't imagine what paying the extra money is necessary for.
My only disappointment is that when I went to buy a second roll MP did not have the color I wanted/needed. In the couple of weeks I have been watching for colors, it seems that it is a bit of a gamble as to whether they will have what you want in stock. But I will return to MP when it is time to buy another roll.
