Premium 3D Printer Filament ABS 1.75MM 1kg/spool, Black
Get outstanding 3D printing results when you use 1.75mm ABS 3D Printer Filament from Monoprice!
ABS is one of the most commonly used filament types in 3D printing. It has a high tensile strength and good overall toughness. It has a low density and is softer than PLA, which means lower weight and lower cost when printing large models. Hardness is such that no white dot appears when bending.
This 1 Kg spool features a thickness of 1.75mm ±0.10mm, with a roundness variation of only 0.05mm. It has a nominal processing temperature of 230° C (446°F). Thickness and roundness factors are laser measured at the factory to ensure accuracy over the entire length of the filament.
The negatives of using ABS is that it can give off a white smoke with a concentrated odor. It is best to ensure that the printing room is well ventilated when using ABS.
Additionally, it has a high moisture absorption rate. Depending on the overall humidity level of the printing environment, an opened spool can absorb enough moisture after a couple of days that high temperature printing could cause bubbles or pocks in the extrusion. It is therefore recommended to not open a spool until you are ready to print and to store any unused portion with with silca gel and/or an active dehumidifier to reduce the amount of moisture it can absorb.

No problems with ordering or delivery and the product arrives vacuum sealed. I have used this filament now for 5 print runs of 4"x4"x1" items on my Solidoodle 2 with no issues.
PROS: Good price, vacuum packed, good prints.
CONS: None so far.

PROS: Cheap, Prints well, hasn't clogged my extruder yet

The second thing that I noticed and I have loved this is that it has a larger radius spool and because of this the plastic doesn't fall off and get tangled the way the Octave stuff does when it is close to full. I bought white black and red and have probably done 15 hrs of printing without any filament issues. Now all we need is for Monoprice to start carrying more colors!
PROS: Larger Radius spool means less tangling cheap
Availability of colors
Speed of Delivery!

For the most part the the filament has been good. I had some white that was spectacular and I could not make a bad print.
The black... same way until halfway through I got a clog. Cleaned the nozzel(torch) and start up only to clog again a few prints later. Replaced the extruder and moved up to an E3D and sure enough clogged that one too!. So I tossed the last 1/3rd of that roll.
The green... worked like a champ after I dialed it in.
Red ... has not been very good. I cannot seem to find the right temperature to print this filament at.
The yellow... worked great until I left it out for a week. I went back to print and started getting pops. It had absorbed to much moisture. I don't think this is the fault of the filament but I've left other brands on my printer for a week (only printing on the weekend) and not had this issue.
Got another roll of Black and it prints really good but is brittle. If I put to much strain on the spool it bends the filament easily. Overall though it's printed pretty good when I can keep it from bending.
Overall I like the filament from Monoprice and I would say that 70% of the time I get excellent prints. I will continue to use their filament especially the white.
Good spool especially like the filament keeper holes
Generally Good quality
Low melt point
CONS: Inconsistent Quality
Doesn't react to acetone as strongly as other filament brands
