I gave this a chance after seeing all the negative reviews about the ink, and unfortunately, my experience with the ink was pretty par for the course. It gave my printer a lot of issues, and never ended up working, despite a significant amount of troubleshooting. However, the customer service team was very fair and swift in issuing a refund. I was truly impressed with the way they handled the situation.
I was really excited to find a source for cheap toner. I was disappointed though when the first set didn't work and the second set only worked for 5 partial pages of text and ran out of ink. The idea to reduce the cost of toner is great, but these just don't cut it. FYI, I followed the instructions to a T and used them the first 2 days I had them.
I think the concept of not having incredible markups for toner is a great idea! But I would be willing to pay a little more if Monoprice increased the quality.
Printed for about a half dozen pages, then completely dried up and failed after not printing for a couple of weeks. Why do I even bother trying with these 're-manufactured' ink cartridges. I'm never buying one again.
CONS: I just bought black & color cartridges and my printer can't function with them in. I thought I was shipped the wrong thing until I read the package only to see it was what it was supposed to be. My printer ribbon thing can't move back and forth with it. I am open to the idea that I installed it wrong, but without any instructions I have nothing to compare it with. So frustrated!
I have bought ink from Monoprice for a little over a year now. The first black ink cartridges that I bought were item 7345, and they worked great! They have been discontinued, though, so I started buying these cartridges, item 8907. These newer cartridges have been of varying quality since my first order of them. Some of them work great with no problems. Others print with lines or streaks from their very first print job. The most recent issue I have faced is that the printer will sometimes spontaneously have an error, saying that the cartridge has failed or is incompatible with the printer—an odd thing for it to say when I printed a document earlier in the day with the very same ink cartridges installed. In fact, the past 3 of 5 black cartridges 8907 that I bought from Monoprice have had this issue, and it feels like a waste to have to throw one out simply because I can't get the printer to realize that it has, in fact, printed with these cartridges before. Cleaning and reinstalling the cartridges has not solved the problem, and I have not used the cartridges enough yet for them to be low on ink.
To summarize: when they work, they usually work very well with only a few exceptions. However, when the cartridge decides to quit or the printer decides that it can't recognize the cartridge, though, you have the potential of losing half a cartridge or more. What a shame!
CONS: Inconsistent sometimes treated as incompatible cartridges by the printer.
