At one fifth the price of a new HP branded cartridge, I had my doubts but took a chance since this is Monoprice. The toner cartridge was packaged well and fit easily into my LaserJet 5N. First couple of pages were a bit streaky but was printing clean by the third page. No problems as of yet.
PROS: This is a tremendous product. Unlike the 'refilled' toners you find on eBay, which in my experience give you perhaps a 40% chance they will actually perform properly these toners are clearly returned to factory new condition.
They work great and cost a fraction of the price of the OEM product.
Also - shipping is so fast you don't need to sink your money into keeping a spare stock on hand.
CONS: Only one CON - wish I had discovered these sooner.
This is my second order for the re-manufactured toner for my LaserJet 4 Plus. After several trying experiences with re-manufactured toners from other sources, this toner cartridge was perfect. I'm still using the one I originally ordered as it has not run out of toner yet.
PROS: No problems with leaking toner, hard to insert cartridges or broken cartridges. The toner was exactly like a new toner would be. I would recommend this to anyone that still uses the printers that require this type of cartridge.
For the price I had to take the risk. The first couple of pages were mildly streaked after installing this cartridge in my 5N. After the fifth page the prints looked great and have been excellent ever since. No issues that I can find. Will definitely buy again.
I finally stepped up to a laser printer by getting a hand-me-down HP 4M. I was pleased to find Monoprice offered a toner cartridgerefurbishedand the price was right. Especially when you consider that this is the X version (high yield) which will last me close to forever. It arrived within a couple of days, packed very well. The cartridge itself was sealed in a blackout bag with dessicant and looked fine. It is working without a problemprintouts are as crisp as with the OEM that the printer came with. Recommended.
Remanufactured housing shows its age in scuffs and wear, but that's just cosmetic. Cartridge works well, which is what really matters, and at a price I can get anywhere else. I only hope to find a source for inkjet at equally impressive prices.
The Monoprice 98X toner cartridge was working fine in my HP Laserjet 5 which has been running faithfully without a repair since 1995. Five months after first installing it I had a paper jam and when I reinstalled the cartridge afterwards the printer gave an error message of "Install toner cartridge." It had worked before and was heavy, indicating it was still full of toner. I pulled a real HP 98X from my HP Laserjet 4 and installed it into the LJ5 and it worked fine. I tried this cartridge in the LJ4 and it would not work there either.
PROS: The Monoprice 98X toner cartridge worked initially. I have a duty cycle of about 5 pages a week. Really lightweight.
CONS: Purchased at the end of November 2013. It died in April 2014, 5 months after it was installed, after approximately 100 total pages. The toner cartridge is still full, just not recognized by the printer.
