My printer was running low on black toner, and my wife picked up a replacement remanufactured cartridge from another site (not sure which). When I got around to installing it, I couldn't make it work. Tried everything, nothing but printer errors.
That experience, plus the low review of this cartridge made me hesitant to try again with a remanufactured cartridge, but I've had a lot of good monoprice experiences, so what the heck.
The cartridge arrived, I pulled the tabs as indicated on the carton, and inserted, presto, no problems. Works great! Important note, I did not have to change the printer settings to allow non-Dell toner, so the cartridge is chipped, or whatever the 3100cn uses to distinguish between "real" toner and aftermarket toner.
PROS: Inexpensive, worked flawlessly, recognized as Dell toner
CONS: None so far (haven't verified if it lives up to stated capacity)
I was expecting an authentic dell cartridge that was refilled but instead received another type. It does fit in the printer but I keep getting frequent refill toner error messages and the thing leaks incessantly if you take it out to reset the printer (which I have to do most of the time to clear the error message). My printer and the surrounding areas are coated in black toner. Not a joy to have to clean at all. I will not be buying this item ever again.
PROS: The price
CONS: Bleeds toner like a stuck pig Not an actual Dell cartridge You get what you pay for
