Best bang for the buck for 802.3af/at power. Using two of these units to power AP's and some VOIP phones. So far so good. It is a bit noisy thanks to the fans. If you are not installing it in a cabinet or server room the noise will be noticeable, so take that into consideration.
PROS: 1u rackmount or desktop mounting options. Cooling fan. Easy to see indicators.
I bought it for HD IP cameras. Works fine. The fan is always at full throttle and is loud. But with as many POE amps as this can deliver it may need good air flow so I will just put it in an out of the way closet to keep the noise away from me. It came with attachable rack ears so it will rackmount easily. I think the backplane has enough speed to handle my HD IP cams without choking up. Works with non-POE equipment fine.
I bought this because I saw the review saying it worked with the Ubiquiti PRO AP. Unfortunately I found out the hard way that all Ubiquiti products do not support 802.3af, some use 24v passive POE, which this unit does not support.
As others have said, the fan in this thing is much too loud to use in an office. I'll be putting it in the mechanical room of my house so I don't care. Otherwise, it does what it says and the price is fair.
