Do you have to plug the power cord into an outlet for this 5 port switch to work? I want an easy way to split my wired ethernet connection into 4 more extensions so that I can hard wire my internet connections into my PS4, HDTV, Blu-ray and Roku from one ethernet cable that is hard wired connected to my FiOS router.
    Greg H on Jun 28, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. Yes, this unit will require the use of the power adapter in order to work.
What is the amperage used by this switch at 5V when all 5 ports are in use?
    Parthakumar R on May 29, 2018
What voltage power adapter does pid 15760 use? I'm looking for something that uses 5V.
    Keith K on Jan 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: It's 5 volts, but it also has its own power adapter so you can just use that.
Will this switch allow for using two separate routers from my modem?
    A shopper on Dec 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: That would be dependent on your ISP and MODEM. Some MODEMs can only assign a single IP address and will not talk to two routers. Some ISPs will only provide a single IP address, without an extra fee.
Does this need to be plugged in to a router directly, or can you connect it via an existing Ethernet outlet. I need more Ethernet outlets in a room that is on a different level to where the router is?
    A shopper on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This device is a network switch and can be connected (for more ethernet ports) to an existing router port via an ethernet cable (or ethernet outlet connected to a router). Hope that answers your question clearly enough.
Does this have to be plugged in directly to a router, or can it work when connected via an Ethernet cable from that router?
    A shopper on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This is a simple switch, which means you can connect it directly to any configure router via a straight through Ethernet cable (RJ45), to give you more output. In a normal setup:

DSL (or cable) Modem box buy, configure and connect to Router connect to simple switch to get more output

If DSL Modem box has built in Router then configure built in router then connect directly to simple switch to get more output

If use cable Modem box without a built in router then buy, configure and connect router then connect to switch to get more output.

Note only add a switch if and only if you need more output, because your router does not have any output slot left. Use the last output slot to add in the simple switch to get more output

A simple switch is like the power plug bar, the more power plug bar you add the more power slot output you have to connect to. Just keep on adding more switch in your network and you get more output to connect to the network you have setup (via the router).

    I hope this helps.
Are there mounting holes on the back?
    A shopper on May 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There are 2 small places in the back to slide the switch onto 2 small screws or nails. It does not come with the screws so you will need your own.
Does the switch come from you with a 110v ac to 5v dc power supply ?
    Bertrand Plante b on May 9, 2018
    BEST ANSWER: Yes it does.

    Excellent switch at Great Price
I wanted to hook up an AV receiver, Bluray player and 4K TV via a wired internet connection for better speed and reliability. Using an existing powerline adapter, I connected that to the switch and then ran an Ethernet cable from the switch to each device. For under $10, I considered this a great deal.

    Does the job
Needed a switch to get the ethernet output from my modem to connect to the powerline adapter and a desktop, got this guy and it did the job mighty well without any notable drops at my parent's place.

    Come on...
This box is just a few bucks and it works out great for light duty for me. I've got switches I've paid 10 times the money for, and this one can do the same work.

    5-port ethernet switch
So far it's been good. I had a problem initially with sending emails from my PC after I installed the switch; but after rebooting the modem/router it seems OK now (so far)
